Film collective In The Frame makes their first community film 'Lucky Penny' on the Headland.
Transcript
00:00Stuart, so can you just tell me a bit about the project that you're filming here?
00:03Yeah, absolutely. So what we've got going on behind us is In The Frames' first ever community film,
00:09and that was set up because of massive popular demand by our attendees.
00:15It's a short comedy film written by a student from the Northern School of Art,
00:20filmed by local talent from Hartley Paul and the surrounding areas,
00:23yeah, with local kit and gear that we've kind of just amassed to make something a little bit special.
00:28And the cast and crew you've got here today, what sort of talent have you got here?
00:32So it's a wide range, and that's on purpose.
00:35We've got people who are industry-level professionals working behind us, as you can see,
00:40and we've mixed that with emerging talent or people who are hobbyists or with just an interest,
00:46so we can kind of upskill people so that when the investment that's coming into Hartley Paul and the North East happens,
00:54we're kind of preparing people to be ready to step into those roles.
00:58I'm Alice Padgeter, and I'm the co-founder and vice president of In The Frames.
01:02We're a community, we're completely open to anyone and everyone that's interested in film,
01:06whether that's from being a hobbyist, starting to learn education side of things,
01:12or whether to do it professionally, just interested in how things work.
01:16It's open to the public side of communities, anyone within the North East,
01:19in particular Hartley Paul, that is interested in the screen industries.
01:23And where are you filming in Hartley Paul?
01:25We're filming on the headland.
01:26Luckily, we've got some amazing locations.
01:28Obviously, the headland's having a beautiful sunny day today as well,
01:31and then we shot one just further into Hartley Paul at the Westview, Chile.
01:36And what sort of reaction have you had from people?
01:38Have you got a lot of attention?
01:39It's been a lovely, quiet day so far, so I wouldn't say we've had much impact,
01:45but then again, we try to keep ourselves to ourselves.
01:47The locals and the residents have been exceptionally understanding, very polite.
01:53I think they're used to getting films around here, to be fair.
01:55So, no, it's been quite well received,
01:58and we've had a lot of wonderful support prior to the actual filming from local organisations,
02:02supporting us with donations, in-kind support,
02:06and obviously free access to some of the locations that we need to film in.
