00:00Soft inspirational music plays. Sunrise over a rural Japanese village in the
00:06early 1900s. A young boy, Soichiro Honda, watches his father work in a small
00:12bicycle repair shop. Success is not about never failing, it's about never giving up.
00:18This is the story of a man who faced failure countless times but never gave
00:23up on his dream. The man who built one of the world's largest automobile
00:27companies, Soichiro Honda. Young Soichiro Honda excitedly rushes to the scene
00:32upon hearing a loud noise. He spots his first motor car on the road. Growing up
00:37in a small village in Japan, young Soichiro Honda was fascinated by machines. One
00:43day, he saw something that would change his life forever. A motor car. He was
00:48mesmerized. And in that moment, he knew. He wanted to create something
00:53extraordinary. Soichiro was not a top student. In fact, he struggled in school,
00:58often preferring to work with his hands rather than study. But his passion for
01:03machines was undeniable. Transition scene to Honda, now a teenager, leaving his home to
01:10pursue his dream in Tokyo. He joins Art Shikai, an automobile repair shop. At just 15 years old,
01:17Honda left his village for Tokyo, where he began working at Art Shikai, an automobile repair shop.
01:23It was here that he learned the intricacies of automobile engineering. It wasn't just fixing
01:27cars, he was studying them, understanding every nut and bolt. After six years of hard work,
01:33he returned home and opened his own repair shop. But Soichiro didn't just want to fix cars,
01:38wanted to innovate. Honda saw an opportunity in the growing automobile industry. He spent years designing
01:46a new piston ring that he believed would revolutionize car engines. He was confident that
01:51Japan's largest car company, Toyota, would buy his design. Excited and full of hope,
01:56he presented his creation to Toyota. But the response shocked him. His design was rejected.
02:02Most people would have given up. But not Honda. Instead of quitting,
02:07he went back to the drawing board. He enrolled in engineering school and spent two more years
02:11perfecting his design. And then, success. Finally, Toyota accepted his improved design and gave him a
02:19contract. Honda thought this was the beginning of his success. But fate had other plans. After his
02:25contract was secured, Honda built his first factory. But soon, disaster struck. World War II began.
02:33His factory was bombed twice. Everything he had worked for was destroyed. Still, he didn't give up.
02:40He rebuilt his factory. But then, nature struck. A massive earthquake destroyed it again. He had
02:46lost everything. Most people would have given up. But Honda was different. Japan was devastated.
02:53People needed a cheap way to get around. That's when Honda had an idea. He combined a small motorcycle
02:59with a bicycle. It was simple, but revolutionary. At first, no one noticed. But as people saw how
03:07practical it was, demand grew. Honda began to produce these motorcycles in large numbers. And so,
03:15in 1948, Honda Motor Company was born. It started with motorcycles. And soon, Honda became the largest
03:22motorcycle manufacturer in Japan. Within a few years, Honda motorcycles dominated the world market.
03:28But Honda wasn't done yet. He had another dream. Cars. To compete with companies like Toyota and Nissan.
