A major National Security Conference was held in Canada on June 29, hosted by the Canada India Foundation and TAFSIK under the theme 'United Against Extremism.' Experts from across the country gathered to tackle rising threats from extremist ideologies and foreign interference. The event stressed urgent, united action to protect Canada's domestic peace and national interests.

00:40From Canada India Foundation,
00:42we are doing this conference,
00:44United Against Extremism today, here in Canada,
00:48which we as Canadians feel is very, very important
00:53and timely for all of us.
00:56What we see here in Canada, what we experience here in Canada,
01:02we feel Canada is not the same.
01:04I mean, we are, as a community, going through a lot of threats,
01:10in terms of extremism, and this is not against any community,
01:14or any individual, or any organisation.
01:16This conference is for Canada, to preserve Canada in its pristine state,
01:22which we came to, and make sure that, you know, we address the current challenges we have as Canadians in Canada,
01:32in terms of dealing with extremism, and what communities are suffering here on daily basis.
01:38We need to call this out, and make sure government, policy makers, and everybody who cares for Canada,
01:46listens to us as citizens of Canada, and make sure they do their bit to help Canada be what it was, what it should be, and what we want for our children.
02:00National Security Conference in Paramount Space in Wong, Ontario.
02:05This is an extremely important event in the context of Canada and Canada-India relations,
02:10and this is also the 40th anniversary of the Air India Kanishka bombing, where I lost my entire family.
02:17I'm here to speak to everyone in the hope that we will be able to establish a memorial learning centre in Canada,
02:26and in India, and also bring in to effect, you know, this subject in the education system,
02:33right across Ontario, BC, and Canada.
02:36Yeah, I thank, of course, Canada-India Foundation and TAFSEC for organising this, and Ritesh Bhai in particular,
02:43and I reach out to both the Prime Ministers of Canada and India to, you know, to look at this very closely,
02:49and, you know, help us go forward in this.
02:52Today's important meeting is extremely important.
02:56I think it's probably one of the first public meetings in a long, long time that would highlight the question of extremism in Canada,
03:05particularly in the Indo-Canadian community, and how the politicians in this country haven't paid much attention to it,
03:14and how extremism, drugs, smuggling, and even the immigration rackets, all sometimes come together, coalesce, to create problems for our society.
