00:00Suspension, Brakes and Tires
00:02The bike comes with adjustable suspension, 41mm upside-down forks at the front and a
00:08side-mounted rear shock. It's comfy and well-balanced on the move, though the front does
00:14dive a bit under hard braking. If you're into customizing, you can upgrade to Olean's suspension
00:19for a premium touch. Braking is handled by dual four-piston Brembo calipers at the front on 320mm
00:27discs, which are super effective. The rear brake is okay, but the ABS can be a bit intrusive.
00:34It can be turned off, though, which is nice for off-road rides. Tire choice varies by model.
00:40The more road-friendly version gets Metzeler Tourant's Next Tires,
00:44while the adventure-inspired one gets Michelin Anarchy Adventures. For most riders who'll stick
00:50to pavement, the Metzeler option makes more sense. Build quality and style
00:55Moto Guzzi nailed the design. It's got character, solid build quality, and no cheap plastic in sight.
01:04The steel tubular frame adds a rugged feel, and little details like the eagle-shaped LED DRL
01:09add flair. It's definitely a head-turner, whether you're at a cafe or on a trail.
01:15Special Editions and Accessories
01:17There are some cool limited-edition versions, like the Guardia d'Honor, made to celebrate Guzzi's
01:2475-year collaboration with Italy's cuirassiers. Only 1946 units were made, each with a numbered
01:31plaque and extras like crash bars, LED spotlights, and a taller Turing screen. Priced at around £12,500,
01:39it's a collector's dream. Moto Guzzi also released a V85TT travel version in 2020, which includes heated
01:48grips, a larger screen, panniers, and special paint. While the extras add value, over £1,600 worth,
01:57the travel version costs only £900 to £1,100 more than the standard or premium model,
02:04making it a decent deal if you want those features pre-installed.
02:07That said, the left pannier is small, thanks to the exhaust, and the heated grips don't get very
02:13warm. Price and Competition
02:16The base V85TT starts at around £11,099, going up with extras or special editions.
02:26Compared to rivals like the BMW F850GS and KTM 790 Adventure, the Guzzi is priced similarly,
02:33though the others offer more power and features like quickshifters and electronic goodies.
02:38The BMW's smoother twin is better for long-haul rides, while the KTM's 95 brake horsepower and WP
02:46suspension give it a sportier edge. Still, the V85TT shines with its retro styling, mechanical simplicity,
02:54and quality finish. It's not trying to be the fastest or most tech-packed bike out there.
02:59Instead, it offers a soulful, versatile ride with enough touring and adventure chops to keep things
03:06fun. The Moto Guzzi V85TT is one-of-a-kind, a retro-inspired adventure bike that blends old-school
03:13charm with modern capability. It's not quite as aggressive as the BMW F850GS or KTM 790 Adventure,
03:21but that's the point. It's designed for riders who want something with personality, comfort,
03:28and just enough off-road ability to handle occasional detours from the tarmac.
03:33At a glance, the V85TT stands out with its 80s Docker-inspired styling. It's got that distinctive
03:40Moto Guzzi Transverse V-Twin engine, popping out from under the tank, giving it a rugged and unique look.
03:46It also means you get that familiar V-Twin rumble, though it can create some vibes at high speeds
03:51that might bother riders on longer tours. Comfort and ride experience. The riding position is super
03:59comfortable. The 830mm seat height makes it accessible for most riders, and the narrow seat
04:05helps with the reach to the ground. You get a good upright riding stance with an easy reach to bars and
04:11pegs. The screen provides decent wind protection, though it only adjusts forward and backward using
04:18the toolkit, not ideal on the go. A taller screen is available as an optional extra. The controls are
04:25simple and intuitive. Cruise control and menu switches are easy to reach and understand. The TFT
04:32dash is bright and adapts well to changing light, even in mountain shadows or direct sun. It also supports
04:39smartphone connectivity for calls and basic NAV. Although you don't get a full map, just turn-by-turn
04:45prompts. Engine and performance. The V85TT is powered by a 90-degree 853 cubic centimeters V-Twin engine,
04:55making just over 79 brake horsepower. It's based on the older V9 platform but reworked for more power and
05:02torque. You get 90% of the torque by 3750 RPM, which makes for a punchy and fun ride in the mid-range.
05:10It revs up to 8000 RPM and features a neat three-stage shift light. However, the engine can feel a little
05:18vibey at motorway speeds, and the mirrors become almost useless under heavy throttle.
05:23The gearbox is mostly smooth, but the shift between third and fourth can be clunky. A quick shifter would
05:30be a welcome addition here, especially on a bike at this price point.
05:35Verdict
05:36The Moto Guzzi V85TT is a bike for those who value style, character, and simplicity over cutting-edge
05:43performance. It's happy cruising through town, exploring the countryside, or munching a few hundred
05:49miles on a relaxed tour. Just be mindful of the vibes, the softish suspension, and the occasional
05:55gearbox quirk. For many riders, that classic Guzzi charm is worth it. It may not outgun its rivals
06:03on paper, but it might just win your heart in the real world.
06:06The Moto Guzzi V85TT is a very similar type of movement of the
