Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) June 29, 2025 (ANI): Kerala BJP President Rajeev Chandrasekhar condemned the UDF’s victory in the Nilambur by-election, attributing it to the support of Jamaat-e-Islami, which he labeled as an "illegal, anti-national, and anti-constitutional" group. He criticized the Congress for aligning with the Jamaat and claimed it was a dangerous political move. He also noted that the victory was due to CPM vote division and stated that the majority of Kerala would not support the Jamaat-e-Islami’s influence. On the Nilambur by-election, Kerala State BJP President Rajeev Chandrasekhar says, "...This is neither a victory of the Congress party nor of the UDF. This is a victory of Jamaat-e-Islami. This is a victory for Nilambur in particular. For the UDF, this has been possible due to two reasons: the active support of the Jamaat-e-Islami, which is an illegal, anti-national, and anti-constitutional organisation, and the division of the CPM votes... While the UDF views Nilambur as reflecting the sentiment of Kerala, the majority of Kerala is unlikely to vote for the Jamaat-e-Islami's mandate... It is an extremely dangerous and desperate political move by the Congress to bring the Jamaat-e-Islami into the mainstream..."

00:00I have said this very clearly, this is not a victory of the Congress party or a victory of the UDF,
00:06this is a victory of the Jamaat-e-Islami, and that victory is particularly, is very unique to Nilambur,
00:16and it is a victory that has been made possible for the UDF because of two factors,
00:21the active support of the Jamaat-e-Islami, which is an outlawed organization,
00:26an anti-national organization, an anti-constitutional organization, and the division of the votes of the CPM.
00:34So I think for those people who in the UDF believe that Nilambur marks some sort of a general sentiment of the people of Kerala,
00:46I can assure you that almost every other constituency, every other part of Kerala,
00:51the people will never vote for any Jamaat-e-Islami kind of a mandate.
00:56So Jamaat-e-Islami support and mainstreaming Jamaat-e-Islami by the Congress is a very, very, very dangerous political move by the Congress,
01:04a very desperate move by the Congress, and it may have worked in Nilambur.
01:08But across the board, across the state, the people of Kerala will reject this type of opportunistic political alliance.
01:15So how do you know, as was the performance of India in the UK?
01:19No, we, it is not a constituency that where we have had any success in the past.
01:26We fielded an extremely strong candidate, a good candidate, a very local candidate,
01:33a man of credibility and public service, advocate Mohan George.
01:37And we have, we are really the only party that has increased our votes in that election.
01:43And even though it is by a small amount, we not only retained our vote share, but we also increased our votes.
01:49So it is a vote, in my opinion, that has signaled to the LDF that people want development,
01:56people are dissatisfied with what is happening.
01:58And it is unfortunately also an election that has marked the formalization and the normalization of this type of appeasement,
02:07dangerous appeasement and opportunistic politics,
02:10where the Jamaat-e-Islami is allowing the Congress to have victories in a constituency
02:17where they have not done any work for the last 65 years.
02:19Sir, recently the Kerala, the Chief Minister of the Commission,
02:23he informed his displeasure.
02:25You think Madagama's future in the official province of Kaisalak,
02:29two ministers are already going forward?
02:33Look, it is not an issue that the party has anything to say about.
02:37This is an issue between the governor and the governor's office,
02:41which is the constitutional position, and the chief minister of the state.
02:44It is an issue between these two constitutional bodies,
02:48and I certainly don't want to comment on that.
02:51I certainly want to say one thing.
02:52I think the CPM is trying to, and it will fail,
02:56in trying to distract the people of Kerala from the real issues,
03:00the nine years of failures of the LDF government,
03:03the nine years of almost no progress in development or investment in jobs in the state,
03:09the high unemployment, the high inflation in the state of Kerala,
03:12trying to distract and divert the people's attention from those important issues
03:17to issues that are absolutely meaningless.
03:21Their opposition to Bharat Amba or Bharat Mata or the tricolor
03:25is an issue that is not really an issue relevant to the people of Kerala.
03:30People of Kerala want to know,
03:31when we gave you the opportunity nine years ago to serve us,
03:35to make our lives better, what did you do?
03:37You did not do anything except to become a B party of the Congress party.
03:42With the same corruption, with the same kind of appeasement politics,
03:46and no development and no opportunities for our youngsters.
03:49So this is the real issue.
03:50They are trying to divert the attention.
03:53The BJP and the NDA will continue to focus on the important issues
03:57that concern the people of Kerala,
03:58that is development, opportunity and prosperity for all.
