9 missing after cloudburst hits under-construction hotel site in Uttarakhand

A sudden cloudburst in Baligarh, along the Barkot-Yamunotri road in Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand, has left eight to nine workers missing at an under-construction hotel site. Rescue operations are underway, with police, SDRF, and NDRF teams deployed, according to District Magistrate Prashant Arya.

01:09Well, at the moment, NDRF and SDRF personnel are undertaking rescue operations.

01:16We know that in the past 24 hours, the incessant rainfall has wreaked havoc in many parts of Uttarakhand,

01:26including Uttarakhand, wherein the Balcoat area was impounded by incessant rainfall last night.

01:33And at 3 a.m. in the morning, there was a heavy landslide, which washed away a road, as well as under-construction hotels,

01:44labor's hostel as well, in which 8 to 9 laborers are missing.

01:49There were around 18 to 19 laborers that were residing in that area.

01:54Now, after that, the roads have been cut and the Yamunotri highway is also being blocked.

02:03As so far, the Garhwal commissioner spoke to India today over the phone and he told us that the Tarang Yatra has also been suspended

02:11in lieu of the heavy rainfall and red alert in as many as 5 districts.

02:17So, the rescue operations are on. There are many landslides in Chamuli district as well, and the government has

02:25awared people who were traveling to hill to stop by in nearby, in safe areas, and the government is also providing shelter

02:35to the people who are on way to Jardham shrines.

02:38Now, the big question is that regularly the incessant rainfalls are creating havoc in many parts.

02:47There was an under-construction site as well, whether the warning was given to them or whether they were constructing the site in the drain area.
