00:00Can you check if it's raining?
00:09No.
00:10It is not raining.
00:12When Max approached me with the script,
00:14I honestly couldn't believe what I was reading.
00:16I mean, you look at the title,
00:18and you think it's going to be about rain,
00:20about a literal rain check.
00:23And then you keep reading.
00:25Man, I was thrown for a loop.
00:28I mean, leave all your preconceived notions about rain checks at the door.
00:32I remember Nico saying his line and just being like,
00:35oh, don't mess it up, don't mess it up.
00:37It's going to be perfect.
00:38And it just came out.
00:40And yeah, it was.
00:42It was perfect.
00:43Despite Alex's really shitty performance,
00:45I was able to cobble together something serviceable in post.
00:49And I think it really goes to show
00:51that you can really craft a film in the edit.
00:54because I just had to go through countless unusable takes from Alex, of course.
00:59Alex, why'd you ruin it by laughing?
01:01You're making Nico break now.
01:03That's my bad.
01:04You're jeopardizing this whole thing, okay?
01:07I think Max went with the 18th take,
01:10which, you know, you really could have used any of them,
01:13and I think they all would have yielded the same results.
01:16But, you know, he's the genius.
01:18Really, the whole film hinged on Alex's line.
01:21Like, that was the climax.
01:22That's what everything was building up to.
01:23But really, I mean, Nico carried this thing.
01:26I have to say, like, working with Nico,
01:27it was like working with a true artist,
01:29like, in every sense of the word.
01:30You're a genius!
01:31When you get into a character like that,
01:33someone with so much hurt and want,
01:40it's hard to let go.
01:42And that was hard for me
01:44every time the camera's cut.
01:46He really embodied that character.
01:49And, you know, there was so much pathos to that character.
01:51And I know it was a little hard for him
01:53to get out of character afterwards.
01:55Can you check if it's raining?
01:56I just think the character really affected him.
01:57Yeah.
01:58Yeah, me too.
01:59Well, you didn't really have much of a character.
02:01Hey, can you check if it's raining?
02:02It's a shame that Alex couldn't quite match his energy,
02:04but, you know, when you're working with an indie film,
02:06you're gonna have restraints.
02:08Like, you can't always cast the people that you want.
02:10You know, we had to shoot it in one day,
02:12and, like, on a shoestring budget of, like, 5K.
02:14We had quite the bond on set.
02:16I couldn't have asked for a better environment.
02:18Damn it, Alex!
02:19He gave you gold!
02:21He gave you gold!
02:23That was a gold intake!
02:25That's my bag again.
02:27I was just so honored to work with both of these people,
02:31and, you know, I couldn't have asked for a better product
02:33to be a part of.
02:34But, yeah, it was an honor to work with Nico,
02:38and I hope that I get to work with him again.
02:41You get out of it, and you know it's worth it.
02:43You're making something that really speaks to people,
02:46because we're all checking for rain.
02:51And, uh, I really hope people enjoy watching it
02:55as much as we enjoyed making it.
02:56And, uh, I really hope people enjoy watching it
02:58as much as we enjoyed making it.
