00:00:00And now, the next case.
00:00:02All parties in the matter of Smith versus Edwards. Step forward.
00:00:05Real estate agent Chavez Smith is suing her former friend and client, Erica Edwards, for a loan to pay her mortgage payments.
00:00:14All right, well, this is one of those little complicated cases that Bert and I are going to try to figure out together.
00:00:19Ms. Smith, you and Ms. Edwards were friends.
00:00:22By the way, are you a licensed realtor?
00:00:24Yes, I am.
00:00:25In what state?
00:00:26California.
00:00:26According to your complaint, Ms. Edwards wanted to sell her home.
00:00:31Yes.
00:00:32And you had initially found a buyer, but that deal fell through.
00:00:35Yes, now.
00:00:36So you and Ms. Edwards entered into this rather convoluted arrangement.
00:00:41Yes.
00:00:41Whereby you would make the mortgage payments on her home.
00:00:45Yes.
00:00:46While you were trying to find purchaser.
00:00:49Yes.
00:00:49You might also rent the house while you were looking for a purchaser.
00:00:53Yes.
00:00:54And Ms. Edwards would be out from under the problem of the mortgage and she could go and live elsewhere.
00:01:01So far, is that about right?
00:01:02Yes.
00:01:02Yes.
00:01:03She did move out of the house and it is your claim that you made, I believe, four mortgage payments for her.
00:01:10Yes.
00:01:10She owes you that money.
00:01:12Yes.
00:01:12Ms. Edwards says that she found out that you had, in fact, rented the house, didn't tell her that you had rented the house, collected money from the new tenant, did not pay the mortgage on time, thereby ruining her credit.
00:01:29She is counterclaiming for ruining her credit and for the money that you got from renting her house.
00:01:36When did you move out of your house, Ms. Edwards?
00:01:40I moved out May the 29th.
00:01:42When was the first mortgage payment due?
00:01:45May the 1st.
00:01:47Is that the mortgage payment she was supposed to make?
00:01:49Correct.
00:01:49But you were living in the house the entire month of May.
00:01:52She gave me the okay to take that money to put a deposit down on the apartment while she put tenants into the house.
00:01:59Is that right?
00:02:00Yes.
00:02:01Yes.
00:02:01I.
00:02:02So you were supposed to make May's payment.
00:02:04Yes.
00:02:05And it's due on May the 1st.
00:02:06Correct.
00:02:07Did you make May's payment?
00:02:09Yes, I did.
00:02:09When?
00:02:10June 8th.
00:02:12Well, that's late.
00:02:13Yes.
00:02:14That's unacceptable.
00:02:15Do you understand that?
00:02:16No, because I didn't tell her that the payment would be made on time.
00:02:21I was helping her.
00:02:22No, Ms. Smith.
00:02:22I was helping her out of the situation.
00:02:23Ms. Smith, I read that.
00:02:24I read that in your answer to her counterclaim.
00:02:27And you said, well, I told her that I was going to make the payments, but I never said I would make the payments on time.
00:02:32It is presumed in the law that if you agree to take over the mortgage payment, it's understood.
00:02:38The same way it's understood if you say, I'll take over the mortgage payments, that you don't pay them in rupees or yen.
00:02:45You pay them in U.S. dollars.
00:02:47You don't have to write it out that you're going to pay them in U.S. dollars.
00:02:50You say, I'm going to take over the mortgage payments, and they will be paid.
00:02:53And they will be paid on time.
00:02:56You don't have to write on time.
00:02:57But, Your Honor, we didn't come to that agreement until after she had moved out May 29th.
00:03:02So you're saying you didn't come to the agreement to make the mortgage payment for May 1st?
00:03:07Until it was already late.
00:03:08Until it was already late.
00:03:09I see that.
00:03:10Is that correct?
00:03:11That is not correct, Your Honor.
00:03:13We made this agreement the beginning of May.
00:03:16When the beginning of May?
00:03:17Around May 1st, because there's a grace period for the mortgage up until the 15th.
00:03:24And Ms. Smith agreed to go ahead and use my mortgage money for that month to put a deposit down on the apartment where I was moving to.
00:03:32That's not correct.
00:03:33No, I believe you.
00:03:35That's not correct.
00:03:35Just a second.
00:03:36I believe you, and I don't believe her, that she did not pay May 1st mortgage payment on time,
00:03:40and you did not come to an agreement with her about this until after the mortgage payment for May was late.
00:03:45But then you had an agreement.
00:03:46Yes.
00:03:47So, June 1st, you should have paid June's mortgage.
00:03:50No, I paid June's mortgage because I paid May's mortgage June 8th, June 20th.
00:03:57And July?
00:03:58And July.
00:03:59I paid July and August late.
00:04:00When did you make the payments?
00:04:02I made the payment both in September.
00:04:05Well, that's unacceptable, Ms. Smith.
00:04:08That's unacceptable.
00:04:09So, she has a legitimate gripe if she had reasonable credit, and I don't know if she did,
00:04:14and she said that this destroyed her credit, that you made these mortgage payments late.
00:04:17Because she has legitimate beef.
00:04:19How much were the mortgage payments you made for her?
00:04:21It was $18.96, 41 times 4.
00:04:24Just a second.
00:04:24$18.96 and 41 cents.
00:04:28$18.96, 7584.
00:04:30Okay.
00:04:31Now, you put a tenant into the house.
00:04:34Yes, I did.
00:04:34When?
00:04:35They moved in in June, but their payment wasn't good until July.
00:04:38Why?
00:04:39Well, the house was vacant, and they were in a situation to where they didn't have anywhere to go.
00:04:43So, I allowed them to move in in June and pay me for July.
00:04:47How much did they pay you?
00:04:49$1,450.
00:04:50How much in total did you receive from these tenants?
00:04:52I received $2,900 from the tenants.
00:04:55The tenants also gave her $1,000 deposit.
00:04:58Did you add that in?
00:04:59Yes.
00:04:59No, they gave a $1,000 deposit, which was refunded to them.
00:05:03Okay.
00:05:03I am deducting the amount she was paid by the tenants.
00:05:07Do you understand?
00:05:08Yes.
00:05:08Show me your credit score before June, and show it to me after.
00:05:13I wasn't able to get the credit score after, but I do have it before June.
00:05:18Well, you have to show me both.
00:05:19How do I know that you were damaged?
00:05:21That's your counterclaim, that your credit score was damaged because your mortgage was paid late.
00:05:25Isn't that your counterclaim?
00:05:26Yes.
00:05:27Well, how am I supposed to see that?
00:05:30Okay, so you have no counterclaim that you can prove.
00:05:33I mean, as far as I'm concerned, if she paid your mortgage late, and you could show damages as a result of paying the mortgage late,
00:05:39I would give you a certain amount to compensate you for that bad credit, but you can't prove that to me.
00:05:44Okay.
00:05:45Is there any reason why you don't owe her for these mortgage payments, $4,684?
00:05:49When did you move back into the house?
00:05:52September the 15th.
00:05:53She never moved back in.
00:05:55September the 15th, the tenants moved out.
00:05:57But she never moved in.
00:05:58Who did?
00:05:59Nobody.
00:05:59She left the house vacant until she just recently sold it a couple months ago.
00:06:03I moved back to the house.
00:06:04Just a second.
00:06:05Hold it.
00:06:07Did you move back to the house?
00:06:08Yes, I did.
00:06:09In September?
00:06:10September the 15th, when the tenants moved out.
00:06:13And when did you sell the house?
00:06:15September the 19th, 07.
00:06:17So you sold the house four days later?
00:06:19Yes.
00:06:19I didn't move my stuff.
00:06:21My stuff was in storage.
00:06:22I was there at the house.
00:06:24Don't play with me, will you please?
00:06:26I'm not.
00:06:26Still, you're playing with me.
00:06:27How much did you sell the house for?
00:06:30$394,000.
00:06:31How much did you pay for it?
00:06:33$125,000.
00:06:34Why didn't you give her the mortgage payments that she laid out for you?
00:06:37What mortgage payments?
00:06:38The mortgage payments that she paid for you.
00:06:41The tenants that were there gave her the money for her to pay the mortgage.
00:06:45No, they didn't.
00:06:46Show me that.
00:06:46Yes, they did.
00:06:47Show me that.
00:06:47They're her friends.
00:06:48They were friends of hers.
00:06:49Just a second.
00:06:50Show me that.
00:06:51They were friends of hers.
00:06:53Bring a witness.
00:06:53And they did not want to be involved.
00:06:56Listen to me.
00:06:56These are friends that she moved into the house.
00:06:58Listen to me, my dear.
00:07:00She made mortgage payments totaling almost $8,000.
00:07:04According to her, she got rent $4.
00:07:07Were they month-to-month tenants?
00:07:08Or did they sign a lease?
00:07:09They signed a lease.
00:07:10They signed a lease that I was not aware of.
00:07:14What difference does it make?
00:07:15That was your agreement with her.
00:07:17She's not your mother.
00:07:18Why would she make your mortgage payment?
00:07:19Your agreement was she was going to rent the house.
00:07:22She was going to make the mortgage payment until such time.
00:07:24She's actually also.
00:07:25I'm speaking thick.
00:07:27Until such time as the house could be sold, then she would recoup her money and everybody
00:07:31would be happy.
00:07:33I mean, what do you think?
00:07:33This is a windfall?
00:07:34You think you get somebody else to pay your mortgage?
00:07:36You make $200,000 on the house and you don't have to pay it back?
00:07:39What are you, an idiot?
00:07:40No, I'm not.
00:07:41Judgment for the plaintiff in the amount of $46.84.
00:07:44That's all.
00:07:44Step out.
00:07:44Your counterclaim is dismissed.
00:07:45Thank you, Your Honor.
00:07:47Friendship and family really don't mix.
00:07:49I guess the moral to all this is don't get business mixed with friendship.
00:07:54At the end of the day, if somebody's trying to help you out as a friend, you would think
00:07:58that you would at least try to uphold your end of the bargain.
00:08:01Be wiser and know what type of people you're dealing with.
00:08:05I hate that it came to this.
00:08:07We haven't talked since last year.
00:08:09Sometimes people in your life are for a reason or a season, and I guess this was just a reason
00:08:13I helped her transition to wherever.
00:08:16And now, the next case.
00:08:18All parties in the matter of Zelichowski versus Ciardo.
00:08:21Step forward, please.
00:08:2223-year-old Sylvia Zelichowski is suing her friend's ex-boyfriend, Henry Ciardo, for an
00:08:29unpaid loan for bail.
00:08:31Henry claims Sylvia wasn't the person who posted his bail.
00:08:35I think I got the relationship right.
00:08:39He was the boyfriend of a girlfriend of yours.
00:08:42Yes.
00:08:43No.
00:08:44He got himself arrested.
00:08:45When were you arrested?
00:08:47Excuse me?
00:08:47When were you arrested?
00:08:48May 31st, my birthday.
00:08:50It was a great birthday present, ma'am.
00:08:52Do you think that I have a sense of humor, sir?
00:08:54No, ma'am.
00:08:55I have.
00:08:56You are absolutely correct.
00:08:57You do?
00:08:57Oh, yeah?
00:08:58Shh.
00:08:59I just want to...
00:09:00Do you believe you are an accomplished person?
00:09:06In what way?
00:09:07Like, in my life?
00:09:08Yeah, of course.
00:09:08In any way.
00:09:09Do you?
00:09:09Of course.
00:09:10This is not going to be a happy...
00:09:12Oh, no.
00:09:13What?
00:09:15No?
00:09:16Okay.
00:09:18If you think, sir, that this is going to be your party, your playpen, I am going to
00:09:24quickly disabuse you of that thought.
00:09:27Do you understand?
00:09:28Of course.
00:09:29Okay.
00:09:29What were you arrested for on your birthday?
00:09:31Ma'am, there's nothing to do what's going on right now.
00:09:33I'm asking you a question.
00:09:35I want to know.
00:09:35Ma'am, I'm telling you, there's nothing to do what's going on right now.
00:09:39The case that you were arrested for disposed of?
00:09:42Everything was taken care of, yes.
00:09:44Then you will answer my question and tell me what you were arrested for, Mr. Ziarto.
00:09:50Being a bad person.
00:09:52There's nothing in the penal law, sir, that makes that an offense.
00:09:55It's an offense to humanity, but not necessarily against the law.
00:09:59Well, that's it.
00:09:59What were you arrested for, sir?
00:10:02I don't want to discuss this on national television.
00:10:04Fine.
00:10:05You paid his bail?
00:10:07Yes.
00:10:08That's what the case is about.
00:10:09Right.
00:10:10And you want the money back.
00:10:12Right.
00:10:12He was arrested for being a bad person.
00:10:15He acknowledges that you posted his bail.
00:10:18He just says he never asked you to post his bail.
00:10:21That's his defense.
00:10:22It's no defense.
00:10:23Mr. Smarty Pants is going to pay his own bail because Mr. Smarty Pants was arrested for being
00:10:28a bad person.
00:10:29According to him.
00:10:31And probably a whole lot of other things.
00:10:33I mean, I don't know whether he was a pervert.
00:10:35I don't know whether he was a sexual molester.
00:10:37I don't know whether he abused a child.
00:10:40No.
00:10:41Well, how do I know that, sir?
00:10:42You're not telling me it could be anything.
00:10:44Somebody who doesn't want to be embarrassed in front of an audience of 10 million people
00:10:48doesn't come on court television.
00:10:50That's not the point.
00:10:51Judge him for the plaintiff in the amount of $500.
00:10:53Get him out of here.
00:10:54That girl did not pay my bail.
00:10:57I got proof right here that says her name's not even on the frickin' bail slip.
00:10:59I was the one that put up the money and he agreed to pay it back.
00:11:03I am a bad guy.
00:11:04Don't get me wrong.
00:11:05I'm not a frickin' saint.
00:11:05I just thought that he was a decent person starting his life over.
00:11:08You know, she's an idiot.
00:11:09She's naive.
00:11:10She's stupid.
00:11:10She's gonna be taking us the rest of her life.
00:11:12That's it.
00:11:13He's a lowlife.
00:11:14He's never gonna be anything.
00:11:15Anger was a gift.
00:11:16Lesson learned.
00:11:17And I gotta be careful who I lend money to.
00:11:20Case.
00:11:21All parties in the matter of Shaw versus Shaw.
00:11:23Step forward, please.
00:11:25Donna Shaw is suing her son, 18-year-old Adam Shaw, for an unauthorized cash withdrawal from
00:11:31her bank account.
00:11:33Adam claims he didn't do it.
00:11:36How old are you, Mr. Shaw?
00:11:37I'm 18 years old.
00:11:38What are you doing now?
00:11:39I am a pizza delivery driver.
00:11:41Graduated from high school?
00:11:43Yes.
00:11:43What do you want to be when you grow up?
00:11:45I'm kind of deciding between becoming a chef or a computer technician.
00:11:49You're good with computers?
00:11:50Yes.
00:11:50Your mother says you emptied her savings account.
00:11:53Did you empty her savings account?
00:11:54Yes, it was, because it was our savings account.
00:11:57When did you empty her savings account?
00:11:58It was the 25th of September.
00:12:00Tell me how that came about.
00:12:02I had gotten in a car wreck, and I had totaled my car.
00:12:05I called my mother.
00:12:05Who bought you the car?
00:12:06Uh, my mother did.
00:12:08And when you got into a wreck, whose fault was it?
00:12:10I would assume it was my fault.
00:12:12It was raining, and I slid right off the road into a ditch.
00:12:15Then you were going too fast.
00:12:17So your mother bought you a car, and you totaled it.
00:12:19You called her and said...
00:12:20I totaled the car, and now I'm out of the car.
00:12:22I need a car so I can drive.
00:12:24Well, where were you when you called her?
00:12:25It was about a week later, and I was at my girlfriend's house, actually, and I called my mother on my cell phone, because police told me they were going to call her and tell her about the accident.
00:12:34They never did.
00:12:35At least that's what she told me.
00:12:37So you mean for a week she didn't know where you were?
00:12:39Is that right?
00:12:40Yes.
00:12:40He didn't live with me then?
00:12:42Yeah.
00:12:42Who was he living with?
00:12:43His girlfriend.
00:12:44Okay, so now you call her a week later from your girlfriend's house.
00:12:47Go ahead.
00:12:48I'm listening.
00:12:48She tells me, well, I understand that you got in an accident.
00:12:52You need a car to pay your rent.
00:12:54We have an account together, as you know, because when I turned 18, that's what we went and did, is we made sure I was on the account.
00:13:02I had access to it.
00:13:04She told me I could have the money.
00:13:06I asked her, well, since the $3,000 is all that's in there, do you mind if I just close the account?
00:13:11And she said yes, so that's what I did.
00:13:13And a week after that, I went down and bought another car, and that's where all the money went, that and rent.
00:13:20Go ahead.
00:13:21The day that he turned 18, we went to my new bank, and I took my name off of his savings, and he opened a new savings and checking account in his name only.
00:13:31At that time, he had almost $5,000.
00:13:33He did?
00:13:33Yes.
00:13:34Off?
00:13:34Off of his.
00:13:35Okay.
00:13:36We both transferred our savings from a different bank to this bank at that time,
00:13:40And I have the proof here that he was a sole survivor.
00:13:44If I was handicapped or whatever, he could get the money out.
00:13:48But he had no access to this account, no debit card, no anything.
00:13:51So how did he get it?
00:13:53Well, apparently, this story that he told me was he went to the bank, and I didn't find out about this until a month after he did it.
00:13:59When I went to my ATM to transfer money, and it said I had no account.
00:14:03Then when I called my bank, they said, well, who else is on your account?
00:14:07And I said, nobody.
00:14:08I had completely forgotten that his name was even there.
00:14:11And so they said, well, Adam took the money.
00:14:13And I called him and asked him if he'd been to the bank lately.
00:14:16And he said, as a matter of fact, yes, I went there to take the $30 that I had left and change it to a new bank.
00:14:23And I said, well, did you get any extra money?
00:14:24And he said, no.
00:14:25I said, well, are you sure?
00:14:26Because somebody closed my account.
00:14:28And he said, well, it wasn't me.
00:14:30And I said, well, it had to have been you, Adam.
00:14:32Nobody else could have done that.
00:14:34And he said, maybe I walked out without the money.
00:14:36Maybe they closed the wrong account.
00:14:38And I said, why would they do that?
00:14:40Where's the money?
00:14:40It's gone.
00:14:41He said, well, I don't have it, but I'll pay you back.
00:14:43I said, if you didn't take the money, why would you say that you'll pay me back?
00:14:47He said, I'm your son, and I love you.
00:14:48I said, okay.
00:14:49I said, but they're going to get me the copy of the form.
00:14:51When it comes, I said, I'll call you again.
00:14:54And I said, I don't want to hear any more BS.
00:14:56On Monday, I called him, said, Adam, where are you?
00:14:58We need to talk about some way for you to pay me back.
00:15:01And I never heard from him, ever.
00:15:02Did I see the document that he signed?
00:15:06And then this is where he closed the account.
00:15:08I also have all the statements showing he's never put a dime in this account.
00:15:13He doesn't allege that he put any money into the account.
00:15:16What he says is that you told him he could take it.
00:15:19What happened to your $5,000?
00:15:21I didn't have $5,000.
00:15:22How much did you have?
00:15:23I had $3,600.
00:15:26What happened to your $3,600?
00:15:28It went towards rent.
00:15:29And after I moved out, after my crash, they told me...
00:15:33Why didn't you move home with your mother?
00:15:35Because my dad didn't want me to stay there anymore.
00:15:37That's not true either.
00:15:38Whether my dad was kidding or not, he told me that after I moved out, he was not going
00:15:44to let me move back in.
00:15:46That's not true.
00:15:47He was told he could move back in, but he'd have to pay rent, go to school.
00:15:49Is there any reason he doesn't get along with his father?
00:15:52They just don't like each other right now because he's stolen from us before and lied.
00:15:56I don't believe he graduated from high school.
00:15:58The school called and said he didn't.
00:16:00He's a very troubled young man.
00:16:02I know.
00:16:03What you did was you didn't take his name off the account.
00:16:06You understand that?
00:16:07Yes.
00:16:08You made it a joint account.
00:16:09Well, I wasn't aware that it was a joint account.
00:16:11It says a joint account with right of survivorship in our names.
00:16:16Upon the death of one or more of us, the funds in this account become the property of the survivor.
00:16:21But I was under the understanding that he could not touch it unless one of us died.
00:16:25It's not what a joint account is.
00:16:27That's what I thought it was.
00:16:28Well, it's unfortunate because I actually believe you that he went and took that money
00:16:33without your permission.
00:16:35He did.
00:16:36I believe that, but he has the legal right to do it in any event.
00:16:39He's legally protected from taking the money out of the bank.
00:16:43So there's nothing I can do to help you, Mr. Shaw, except to suggest to you very strongly
00:16:46that it is your obligation, even though he's over 18 years old, to try to get him the
00:16:50help that he needs because he clearly needs it.
00:16:53I don't know what the nature of his disability is, but he clearly needs some assistance.
00:16:58And even though you may be angry with him and your husband may be angry with him, I think
00:17:03that it's your obligation as a parent to get it for him.
00:17:06That's all.
00:17:06Because it was a gift.
00:17:10Why should I give a gift back?
00:17:11I guess I just learned a $3,000 lesson.
00:17:14And she told me that I could have it.
00:17:15So I took it.
00:17:17It wasn't his money.
00:17:17It was mine.
00:17:18I mean, are you going to say no to somebody handing you $3,000?
00:17:24I have a complaint and I have a counterclaim.
00:17:26Each of you claim road rage by the other.
00:17:29And, Ms. Lacey, you claim that the defendant assaulted you.
00:17:33Yes.
00:17:33The defendant denies that.
00:17:35So, I'm used to, quite frankly, hearing about these road rage incidents with guys behind
00:17:41the wheel of a car.
00:17:42Very rarely do I see mature women who get involved with that kind of stupidity.
00:17:47It's very distressing.
00:17:49When did this happen?
00:17:50March 12th of 07.
00:17:52What time of the day?
00:17:533.30 p.m.
00:17:54Where were you coming from or going to?
00:17:56I was going to a doctor's appointment southbound on Highway 99.
00:18:00Anybody in the car with you?
00:18:02No.
00:18:02And where were you going or coming?
00:18:03I was picking up my son, going southbound on 99.
00:18:07Okay.
00:18:08Tell me what happened.
00:18:09I was in the, there's a carpool lane and then there's three regular lanes.
00:18:15Mr. Sean was a carpool because she had her daughter with her, but she was in the regular
00:18:19lane and traffic was all backed up.
00:18:22So, I was trying to get to my doctor's appointment.
00:18:24I rushed around her in the carpool lane and came back over real quick.
00:18:29So, you cut her off.
00:18:30Well.
00:18:31Just a second.
00:18:31So, you cut her off.
00:18:33Well, I want, I, yeah.
00:18:35Yeah.
00:18:35Okay.
00:18:35Well, that's what you did.
00:18:36Just a second.
00:18:37Just a second.
00:18:38That's exactly what you did.
00:18:39You cut her off.
00:18:40Okay.
00:18:40Now, because there is no rule that if you have more than one person in the car, you have
00:18:45to drive in a carpool lane.
00:18:46The carpool lane merely allows you to be in that lane if you're more than one person.
00:18:52Correct.
00:18:53But there's no requirement that you go in a carpool lane if you're two people.
00:18:57Correct.
00:18:58I, I question you about that, Ms. Lacey, because you seem to indicate here that you were annoyed
00:19:03with her because she should have been in the carpool lane and not taking up space in
00:19:08the other three lanes where there was traffic.
00:19:11That's what you seem to indicate here.
00:19:12Correct.
00:19:13Well, that's ridiculous.
00:19:15I mean, that's the most ridiculous thing I ever heard.
00:19:17There were tens of thousands of cars on the road.
00:19:19You're complaining about this lady because she didn't want to go in a fast lane with her
00:19:23daughter.
00:19:23That's ridiculous.
00:19:24And then you did the wrong thing.
00:19:26You cut her off.
00:19:27Now, I haven't gotten to you yet, but we will because I have a feeling that both of you ladies
00:19:34acted very badly that day.
00:19:37So after you cut her off, what happened?
00:19:39I proceeded down southbound 99.
00:19:42I took the Florin Road exit and headed eastbound.
00:19:46There's two lanes on eastbound Florin.
00:19:49I was in the left lane and I noticed a couple of minutes after I exited Florin Road, I noticed
00:19:56in my rear view mirror, Mr. Shawn in the right lane.
00:19:59And she comes up, she's next to my car yelling at me and calling me a few names.
00:20:04She's yelling at you.
00:20:06What is she calling you?
00:20:06Is she calling you bad names?
00:20:08She's calling me bad names.
00:20:09And what did you say to her?
00:20:10I didn't say anything.
00:20:12I was like, you know, I was trying to get to my doctor's appointment.
00:20:15That's all I was trying to do.
00:20:16And she started calling me the B word and yelling at me for cutting her off, etc., etc.
00:20:22And next thing I knew, her car is over in my lane, hits my car.
00:20:27I'm looking and in my lane is a tan SUV.
00:20:32And my first thought was, this lady is going to make me hit this SUV in front of me.
00:20:36So I slammed on my brakes.
00:20:38She had so much force on my car that she ended up over in the left lane.
00:20:42And I took a right on to Palmer House, right here.
00:20:47And I came down here.
00:20:50She, because I wasn't sure, like, so I was scared to stop or anything.
00:20:55I got on the phone, was trying to get through to 911.
00:20:58She kept following me.
00:21:00And then I lost her.
00:21:01And I came back and she was parked.
00:21:04So I was trying to take a picture of her license plate.
00:21:06So when I got through to 911, I would have the license plate number.
00:21:10As I was focusing in on the license plate, I had my windows down.
00:21:15She gets out of her car, comes up to my vehicle, to the passenger side,
00:21:19starts screaming and yelling at me on how I hit her car, etc., etc.
00:21:24And I was like, no, I didn't.
00:21:26Next thing I knew, she reaches in to the passenger side window,
00:21:30grabs my purse out of my car.
00:21:32And I was in shock.
00:21:33I was like, wait a minute.
00:21:35That's stealing.
00:21:36That's my purse.
00:21:37So I get out of my car.
00:21:39I go around the back of my car.
00:21:41And she dumps my purse and throws everything on the ground.
00:21:45And I go to pick it up.
00:21:46And she rushes me, scratches me and everything.
00:21:50She is just going at me.
00:21:53And I was in shock.
00:21:55And I believe, excuse my language, but I think I said, what the F?
00:21:59That's assault.
00:22:00And she goes, no, your boyfriend beats you up.
00:22:03I'm like, oh, is that the way we play the game?
00:22:05And then she continues with the, these two gentlemen came out, pulled her off of me.
00:22:13I asked them if they would stick around and talk to the police.
00:22:16They said no.
00:22:17I went to pick up my belongings off of the ground.
00:22:22And when I went to stand back up, she pushes me.
00:22:26I didn't have a chance to brace myself or anything.
00:22:29I fell back and my head hit the street, twisted my ankle, bruise on my right arm.
00:22:36Everything's on the right side.
00:22:37Again, I get back up and start trying to retrieve my stuff again.
00:22:42And that's when the officer pulled up.
00:22:45Okay.
00:22:46Your version.
00:22:47That was totally a lie.
00:22:48Your version.
00:22:49My version is we were southbound on 99 on our way to pick up my son.
00:22:54We were in the carpool lane.
00:22:56She's tailgating me.
00:22:57My daughter noticed that.
00:22:58Don't tell me what anybody else knows.
00:23:00Just tell me.
00:23:01Okay.
00:23:01She wanted.
00:23:02What happened from your perspective?
00:23:03Okay.
00:23:03She went around on the shoulder to get around me.
00:23:06I wasn't in the number two lane.
00:23:09I was in the number one lane.
00:23:10She went around on the shoulder, started driving wildly.
00:23:13She was weaving in and out of traffic, got back in the carpool lane.
00:23:16I exited off the freeway.
00:23:18My daughter noticed when we were over the overpass, she said, the same car is getting
00:23:22off the freeway.
00:23:23Is that hers?
00:23:23I said, I don't know.
00:23:24So we were driving east on Florin.
00:23:26And then all of a sudden I saw a car driving up fast behind me.
00:23:30So I moved over to the right lane and lo and behold, bam, she crashes right into me.
00:23:35Where was the damage to your car?
00:23:38I've got pictures right here.
00:23:39See it.
00:23:40And you can tell.
00:23:41You have pictures of the damage to your car?
00:23:42Yes.
00:23:43And she hit me.
00:23:52Shh.
00:23:59Why don't I have any pictures of the front of either of these cars?
00:24:03Because I didn't hit her.
00:24:04She hit me.
00:24:05She's claiming.
00:24:05I said, why don't I have any pictures of the front of either of these cars?
00:24:11Because there was no damage in the front of my car.
00:24:13But if I had a picture of that, it would have been helpful.
00:24:16Okay.
00:24:17Because she sideswiped me.
00:24:19She didn't.
00:24:19I did not sideswipe you.
00:24:20No, no, no, no, no.
00:24:21This car looks to me as if this car, this is where the impact was in the front.
00:24:27That's her tire marks.
00:24:28That's where she crashed into me.
00:24:30And then you can see on my picture where she stayed on my...
00:24:34The damage to her car is mostly on the side.
00:24:37Right.
00:24:38Damage to your car, mostly over here.
00:24:43Marlene Lacey claims fellow motorist Sarah Roshan rammed her car during an incident of road rage.
00:24:51Sarah claims it was Marlene who ran into her.
00:24:55She is countersuing for the resulting damage.
00:24:57Okay, so she hits your car and...
00:24:59She tried to veer me to the right into a ditch where I had a picture of the ditch there.
00:25:04And then I managed to get ahead of her.
00:25:07So I passed the light.
00:25:08But she went to the right on Palmer House and tried to run from me.
00:25:11So I was like, uh-uh, she's not going to run from me.
00:25:13So I ended up backing up in the street and following her down the street.
00:25:18And she made a U-turn in someone's driveway.
00:25:21I came around behind her.
00:25:22She backed up and just crashed right into the back of my car.
00:25:25You could see the dent by the gas tank there.
00:25:27And then she managed to drive back down the street, went into a church parking lot.
00:25:32She did a donut in there.
00:25:34And I got a picture of the marks on the ground there, if you look at the picture.
00:25:38And she was heading straight for me like she wanted to play chicken.
00:25:41So I was like, this lady has no regard for me and my daughter.
00:25:44And first of all, why would I even hit her with my daughter in the car?
00:25:47Do you have a police report?
00:25:48Yes, I do.
00:25:49I'd like to take a look at the police reports, please.
00:25:56And I'm a commercial truck driver, so why would I want to ruin my driving record?
00:26:00That's my livelihood.
00:26:01I am a Class A truck driver.
00:26:03So I have no reason to be crashing into anybody.
00:26:13You told the police that after you took the pocketbook out of her car, which you acknowledged that you did, which was the wrong thing to do.
00:26:20You understand that?
00:26:21I understand.
00:26:22That she slapped you?
00:26:24Yes.
00:26:25Where did she slap you?
00:26:26Right here on the right side of my cheek.
00:26:28And that's when you hit her?
00:26:30Yes.
00:26:30You have photographs of your injuries?
00:26:32Yes, I do.
00:26:33Would you like to see them, please?
00:26:50You hurt her pretty badly, madam.
00:26:53You hurt her pretty badly.
00:26:55That's unreasonable.
00:26:56She hit me.
00:26:57I'm not sure about that.
00:26:58No, you say she slapped you.
00:26:59I believe that.
00:27:00But you assaulted her.
00:27:01She hit me first.
00:27:02No, I don't believe that.
00:27:04Not only don't I believe it, but even if she slapped you in the face after you took her purse, she's allowed to do that.
00:27:11Well, I didn't steal her purse.
00:27:12Yes, you did.
00:27:13I grabbed it, yes.
00:27:14Once, yes, you did.
00:27:15You stole her purse.
00:27:16You're removing it was not to steal its contents, was to make sure that you had identifying information about her, because she was leaving.
00:27:22You could have had the same identifying information by just taking down her license plate number.
00:27:27You chose not to do that.
00:27:29You committed a felony.
00:27:30You reached into her car and took her purse.
00:27:33You lost your temper.
00:27:33That's a felony.
00:27:34Well, anybody would under the circumstances.
00:27:36No, no, no, my dear.
00:27:38Well, not stealing the purse, but I was hot.
00:27:39No, I wouldn't have done it.
00:27:41I would have stayed in my car until a police officer came.
00:27:43I would have locked my doors, rolled up my windows, and said,
00:27:46Well, I called 911.
00:27:47You may have called 911, but you stay in your car, especially when you have your daughter with you.
00:27:52You don't know what kind of nut this is.
00:27:54All you did was say to me, this person was driving erratically.
00:27:58That's what you said to me.
00:27:58She cut me off.
00:28:00She ramped my car.
00:28:01And instead of sitting in your car and protecting your daughter, you got out of the car and stole a pocketbook.
00:28:06Actually, I got out of the car to estimate my damages, and she drove up alongside of me, started yelling at me.
00:28:12So what?
00:28:12So, further proof.
00:28:14But I was away from her.
00:28:15You weren't away from her.
00:28:17You walked up to her car and reached into her bag.
00:28:20You can't do that.
00:28:22You understand that?
00:28:24Yeah, good.
00:28:25I'm glad you understand it.
00:28:26And you should be more responsible if you have your child with you.
00:28:30Now, go ahead.
00:28:31I also asked her if she was on medication, and she said she was.
00:28:35It's very possible.
00:28:36And if she told you she was on medication, I mean, I know that you didn't ask it in a calm way,
00:28:40because if somebody rams your car, as she rammed your car, you're not calm.
00:28:45So you probably said, what are you on?
00:28:48No, I asked her, are you on any medication?
00:28:50And she said?
00:28:51Yes, I am.
00:28:51Was that before or after you assaulted her?
00:28:53That was before.
00:28:55You got me?
00:28:57In any event, you have medical bills?
00:28:59I actually don't have medical bills, except for, like, my prescriptions, so, like, $60 for prescriptions.
00:29:06Okay.
00:29:06Um, I also have a report from, because there's more injuries than the pictures, because when I fell, my head hit the ground.
00:29:14I'd like to see it.
00:29:14So there's, uh...
00:29:15I didn't cause her to hit her head.
00:29:17She did that on her own.
00:29:19Medical report.
00:29:20And my daughter can witness to that.
00:29:26I'm not going to call your daughter as a witness.
00:29:28Okay.
00:29:28I think you put her through quite enough.
00:29:30Marlene Lacey is accusing fellow motorist Sarah Roshan of ramming her car during an incident of road rage.
00:29:38What?
00:29:39It says in the police report that there's no visual marks on her face.
00:29:43No, I read that there were no visual marks.
00:29:45She was not injured.
00:29:47No, I understand that.
00:29:48Okay.
00:29:48I do believe, however, that you damaged her car.
00:29:51Okay.
00:29:51I think that she lost it, and I think that you behaved very badly that day, Ms. Lacey.
00:29:55Okay.
00:29:55Very badly.
00:29:56I think that you were in a rush to get to a doctor's appointment, and you were driving erratically on the road in order to do that.
00:30:01You placed a lot of people's lives in jeopardy, because that's what...
00:30:05You practically acknowledged that in your statement.
00:30:09But she's not allowed to lose her temper and assault you.
00:30:12Now, you were banged up.
00:30:13Yes.
00:30:14You were banged up.
00:30:15I'm awarding you $3,500 in fees for your pain and suffering.
00:30:19Okay.
00:30:19And for your medical bills, whatever they were.
00:30:22Okay.
00:30:23I'm awarding her $3,500 on her counterclaim to fix her car for the damage that you caused.
00:30:29Okay.
00:30:29Do you understand?
00:30:30Yes, ma'am.
00:30:30That means each of you gets nothing.
00:30:33That's all.
00:30:34Ma'am.
00:30:34If I was excused, you may step out.
00:30:36Well, she ran into me.
00:30:38You don't assault somebody.
00:30:39She did road rage.
00:30:40You don't grab their belongings out of their car.
00:30:43When she got out of the car, hit me.
00:30:45And throw them on the ground.
00:30:46And then try to gain sympathy from everybody that she's the victim.
00:30:50And leave marks and welts and bruises.
00:30:52And I am the perpetrator, which I'm the victim.
00:30:55I was on volume.
00:30:56Don't be on drugs and commit road rage.
00:30:58When she says I was on drugs, I was not on drugs.
00:31:01I was on volume from...
00:31:04All the three roommates, raise your paws.
00:31:07Very good.
00:31:08Ms. Davey, according to your complaint, you, this young lady, and this young lady decided
00:31:13to lease an apartment together.
00:31:15You signed the lease for how long?
00:31:17Till August 10th.
00:31:18Six months.
00:31:19And you were going to share the rent?
00:31:20Yes.
00:31:21We were going to split it three ways equally.
00:31:22According to your complaint, you moved in in February 2000 and...
00:31:25Um, we moved in the last week of January 2007 and...
00:31:29But the rent started in February.
00:31:31Well, we paid a little extra for the last week.
00:31:33We paid $100 extra.
00:31:35All right.
00:31:35Well, I did.
00:31:36That's not...
00:31:37I never knew anything about that.
00:31:39Okay.
00:31:40So, your complaint alleges that Ms. Hanson did not pay her rent for February and did not
00:31:47pay her rent in March.
00:31:49Right.
00:31:49And then you did what?
00:31:51Um, she called me one night asking to get into the house.
00:31:54And I was busy.
00:31:56I wasn't at home, so I didn't let her in.
00:31:57And I told her that I wasn't going to let her back into the house until she paid me the
00:32:02money that she owed me.
00:32:03So, you locked her out.
00:32:04Well, she was locked out.
00:32:05I didn't try to intentionally lock her out.
00:32:08She didn't offer to come pick up a key to get into the house.
00:32:11And I knew she could...
00:32:12Well, that's something I don't quite understand.
00:32:14You have an apartment.
00:32:15There are three of you on the lease and only two keys.
00:32:18Who wants to explain to me why there were only two keys?
00:32:21Yes.
00:32:21There were only two keys because we were the only ones on the lease.
00:32:23Brittany wasn't on the lease.
00:32:24And you have made a third key, don't you?
00:32:26We could have, but I just let Brittany use my key because she was working late one night
00:32:30and she needed to get in and I was at my boyfriend's house.
00:32:32Why didn't you go to a locksmith and make a third key?
00:32:35I don't understand that.
00:32:36How?
00:32:36I don't know.
00:32:37We could have done that, but didn't.
00:32:45Anyway.
00:32:45So, we didn't have the three keys.
00:32:47You locked her out.
00:32:48You locked her out.
00:32:49Now you want your rent.
00:32:50Yeah.
00:32:51She owes me for two months of rent.
00:32:52Okay.
00:32:52Now, Ms. Hanson says that she told you that she could not afford February's rent.
00:32:58You told her not to worry about it.
00:32:59And then she was going to pay you in March, but you locked her out first.
00:33:03Actually, Your Honor.
00:33:04That didn't require an answer.
00:33:07Well, that statement was incorrect.
00:33:09Well, I said what she said happened is this.
00:33:13So, now you have to be quiet.
00:33:14You have to sort of dust out the cobwebs.
00:33:17Now, I'm telling you what her defense is.
00:33:19Do you understand?
00:33:20I do.
00:33:20She has a counterclaim.
00:33:22She says that you locked her out, but took her property, took her clothes.
00:33:27And she can prove that because some of the clothes that belong to her, you are wearing
00:33:33on a website on the internet.
00:33:35Not Taylor.
00:33:36Brittany was.
00:33:37Brittany.
00:33:38One of.
00:33:38Whatever.
00:33:39And she wants her clothes back.
00:33:40That doesn't have anything to do with me.
00:33:42That also didn't require an answer.
00:33:48How old are you?
00:33:49I'm 19.
00:33:50Was that a question or an answer?
00:33:52An answer.
00:33:52And what do you do for a living?
00:33:54I waitress and cook at the World Cafe.
00:33:57And what do you do, Ms. Anson?
00:33:59I work at a coffee shop.
00:34:00And you?
00:34:01I am front desk clerk at the Holiday Inn.
00:34:03How old are you?
00:34:0419.
00:34:0519.
00:34:06You moved out when in March?
00:34:08The very first week of March.
00:34:10Give me the date.
00:34:11I think it was the 2nd.
00:34:13No, it wasn't.
00:34:14No, no, no, no, no.
00:34:14No, I think...
00:34:15No, let's not play with each other.
00:34:16You didn't pay March's rent on the 1st.
00:34:18You didn't pay March's rent on the 2nd.
00:34:20When did you call her and tell her you wanted to get into the house?
00:34:23It was the first Thursday of March, so...
00:34:25I have down the...
00:34:26That happened on the 7th of March.
00:34:28Sounds right.
00:34:30Okay, well then I was...
00:34:31Not the first or second.
00:34:32So you lived there 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th.
00:34:36Why didn't you pay March's rent?
00:34:37Because the rent was due on the 6th.
00:34:40And I told her that I couldn't give her March's rent until, like, that weekend.
00:34:44Why?
00:34:45Because my mom was giving me money for it because I didn't have a job at the time.
00:34:48And my mom got paid that weekend.
00:34:49Why did you move into an apartment if you didn't have a job?
00:34:52Because they needed me to be on the lease to get the apartment.
00:34:54Well, they didn't...
00:34:54Listen to me, Ms. Hanson.
00:34:56Ms. Hanson.
00:34:57They don't need an unemployed teenager to sign on on the lease.
00:35:01Listen to me carefully.
00:35:02They don't need an unemployed teenager to sign on on a lease in order for a landlord to say,
00:35:08oh, now they're really responsible because we have three teenagers, only one of whom has a job, maybe.
00:35:14That's not why they needed you to sign on, unless you had a job.
00:35:18No, not the leasing company needed me to sign on.
00:35:21Taylor needed me to sign on the lease so she could get the apartment.
00:35:23Because Brittany couldn't get a co-signer, and I got a co-signer.
00:35:26Who co-signed for you?
00:35:28My mom.
00:35:29Oh, great.
00:35:31Perfect.
00:35:32I wouldn't have been able to get on the lease without a co-signer.
00:35:35But she forged the co-signer.
00:35:36That's not true at all.
00:35:37Just a...
00:35:37Shh.
00:35:41Cute.
00:35:42They're cute.
00:35:43They should still be home and under somebody else's roof, but they're cute.
00:35:47Listen, you have to pay rent.
00:35:49You live in an apartment, you have to pay rent.
00:35:51I totally agree.
00:35:53Right.
00:35:53So you owe February and March as rent.
00:35:55I didn't live there for March.
00:35:56She kicked me out at the beginning of March.
00:35:58No, no, you lived there the first week in March.
00:36:00Then I would have paid her the first week of March, like day by day that I lived there,
00:36:04but they kicked me out of my house.
00:36:05No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
00:36:06Listen to me.
00:36:06I'm going to get to your counsel claim in a second.
00:36:08Okay.
00:36:09You may not be disappointed, but I have to explain to you that when you live in an apartment,
00:36:13you can't be a baby.
00:36:14And if you sign a lease and if you're supposed to pay rent, you say the first of the month,
00:36:18you have to pay rent.
00:36:19And you don't take on the responsibility of an apartment unless you can afford it.
00:36:24Yes, I am.
00:36:25Who lives there?
00:36:25I found two roommates on Craigslist.
00:36:27Are they okay?
00:36:28Yeah, they're great.
00:36:29Where is she living?
00:36:30Eureka, I believe.
00:36:32California.
00:36:33Okay.
00:36:33So she left?
00:36:34Yes.
00:36:35She moved out at the beginning of April.
00:36:37Okay.
00:36:37Did she pay rent in February?
00:36:39Yes.
00:36:39She pay rent in March?
00:36:41Yes.
00:36:42Yeah.
00:36:43She didn't pay right then, but she's paid me back.
00:36:45So you covered it?
00:36:46Yes.
00:36:47For both of them?
00:36:48Well, I covered it at the start of the month because she got her paycheck like the second
00:36:51week or something, so she didn't have it right then.
00:36:53And what was everybody's share of the rent?
00:36:55$250 each.
00:36:57Okay.
00:36:57Now, you're going to tell me about your clothes.
00:37:00Well, the day that they blocked me out, told me that I couldn't come back.
00:37:05You should have had your own key.
00:37:06I had my own key.
00:37:07I let Brittany use it.
00:37:08She didn't have her own key.
00:37:09No.
00:37:10That's your problem.
00:37:10You should have had your own key.
00:37:12Then nobody can lock you out.
00:37:14I went and got my own key after that, after they locked me out for a day.
00:37:17Fine.
00:37:17So you went and got your own key.
00:37:18So you weren't locked out.
00:37:19Yeah.
00:37:20But that day that they locked me out, they told me that they were kicking me out.
00:37:24I couldn't live there anymore.
00:37:25Well, they could have told you that, but that's not true.
00:37:27They can't kick you out because you're on a lease.
00:37:29Well, I didn't want to live there anymore after that anyway because they were...
00:37:33They were rude to you.
00:37:34Yeah.
00:37:34And they were bullying me.
00:37:35Okay.
00:37:35So you were rude to you.
00:37:36So I went the next day to get my things and I had to get a key from the leasing office
00:37:41and my room had been gone through.
00:37:43Half of my closet was empty.
00:37:44He was there.
00:37:45He couldn't vouch for me.
00:37:47I asked them for my things back.
00:37:49They had put locks on their doors and they wouldn't give me anything back and said that
00:37:52they didn't have anything.
00:37:53A couple of weeks later, a friend of mine was showing me Brittany's MySpace pictures
00:37:58and she was wearing my underwear on a photo of her topless and just an underwear and it
00:38:04was in...
00:38:05They were mine.
00:38:06You recognize your underpants?
00:38:08Yeah.
00:38:09You recognize your underpants?
00:38:11They're like specialty kind.
00:38:14They're not just like regular white underwear.
00:38:16They're like...
00:38:16You can buy them from like a boutique.
00:38:1919-year-old Taylor Davey is suing her former roommate, 19-year-old Camellia Hanson, for
00:38:27unpaid rent and utility bills.
00:38:29Camellia claims Taylor locked her out of the apartment.
00:38:33Miss Davey, just for my own edification, did you put a picture of yourself?
00:38:38Oh, me?
00:38:38No, no, no.
00:38:39I don't do that.
00:38:40Who did?
00:38:41This one?
00:38:42Brittany.
00:38:43Raise your hands if you put up a naked picture of yourself.
00:38:45I'm not naked.
00:38:47What is it?
00:38:47It's I'm in my underwear.
00:38:49They're not her underwear.
00:38:50I don't know why she...
00:38:50Why would you put...
00:38:51Stand up.
00:38:52Why would she put...
00:38:53Underwear.
00:38:55Please.
00:38:56Why would you put a picture of yourself on the internet in your underwear?
00:39:01One of my friends did it for his photography thing.
00:39:03He wanted American apparel looking pictures and there was one in my underwear.
00:39:07Very stupid.
00:39:08Okay.
00:39:10You live to regret that when you're 30.
00:39:12Maybe even when you're 25.
00:39:14Have you done anything like that again?
00:39:16Yes.
00:39:16Before?
00:39:18Maybe.
00:39:19No.
00:39:19Just once?
00:39:20Uh-huh.
00:39:22No, well, like, it's...
00:39:23There was more than one picture, but it's not that big of a deal, I don't think.
00:39:28It is a big deal.
00:39:30You have to think about what you're doing.
00:39:32There are all kinds of perverts and creepy people out there that sort of surf the internet
00:39:38looking for dumb young girls who put up pictures of themselves in their underwear or worse.
00:39:45Don't do it again.
00:39:50Okay.
00:39:50Okay.
00:39:51Sit down.
00:39:52Do you have any other proof that you took your clothes?
00:39:55I don't really have proof that they took my clothes, but I have a list of some of the
00:39:59clothes that they took, and along with stealing my clothes, they posted things about me on
00:40:04the internet.
00:40:05Like, they made a couple websites about me saying really, really horrible things.
00:40:09Because they've been harassing me.
00:40:11It's just showing what kind of people they are.
00:40:13They're not good girls.
00:40:14They're not good people.
00:40:15And they stole all my clothing, locked me out of my house, and are harassing me for it.
00:40:20No, I don't.
00:40:20I don't know whether she does or whether she doesn't.
00:40:22I have a pair of Roxy jeans and a pair of Gaff jeans that were given to me by her because
00:40:26they were a size 5, which doesn't fit her.
00:40:29That's not true.
00:40:29I never gave her any clothes.
00:40:30She wants them back.
00:40:32She can have them.
00:40:32Great.
00:40:33They've been denying that they've had anything this far.
00:40:35I haven't been to anyone.
00:40:35Listen to me.
00:40:36I have no time more to have less patience for this.
00:40:40You owe her $500 for rent for February and March.
00:40:44You're going to send her back her two pairs of jeans and anything else you might find that
00:40:49belongs to her.
00:40:49Do you get it?
00:40:51I do.
00:40:51Perfect.
00:40:52Thank you very much.
00:40:53Bye.
00:40:53Have a happy life.
00:40:54Parties are excused.
00:40:55You may step out.
00:40:56I moved out.
00:40:57I wasn't agreeing with the way that they were living.
00:40:59They have lived a lifestyle that maybe she wasn't happy with.
00:41:03The constant partying, the drinking, the drugs.
00:41:06You know, I do like to party sometimes.
00:41:09The stripping, all sorts of things.
00:41:10But I thought she was in on the whole thing.
00:41:12And now the next case.
00:41:14All parties in the matter of Mixon versus GladΓ©.
00:41:17Step forward, please.
00:41:18James Mixon is suing his former live-in girlfriend, Keisha GladΓ©, for the return of his furniture
00:41:24and baseball cards.
00:41:26Mr. Mixon, you and the defendant lived together for a period of time in her home.
00:41:30Yes.
00:41:31She unceremoniously kicked you out and kept some furniture that belongs to you.
00:41:35Yes.
00:41:36You want it back.
00:41:36Ms. GladΓ© says that you were nothing but a lazy bum during the time that you lived there.
00:41:42You paid no rent.
00:41:43The least you could do is leave the old furniture there.
00:41:46It's not worth very much anyway.
00:41:48She is counterclaiming.
00:41:49She says that you should have paid rent, but you didn't.
00:41:53And that you slashed her tires because you got mad at her.
00:41:55So let me make this simple.
00:41:57The fact that he should have paid rent, you are absolutely correct.
00:42:01But that doesn't mean he's going to pay rent because you allowed him to be a bum.
00:42:05True.
00:42:06So?
00:42:07You were an enabler.
00:42:10How long did he live with you?
00:42:11For a year and a month.
00:42:14And how many months of those 13 months that he lived with you did he pay rent?
00:42:18None.
00:42:19None?
00:42:22Why are you laughing?
00:42:23Because that was funny.
00:42:25No, she's not funny.
00:42:26I'm funny.
00:42:27James Mixon claims ex-girlfriend Keisha GladΓ© won't return his personal belongings.
00:42:33Keisha is countersuing for unpaid rent and slash tires.
00:42:38How many months did you pay rent, Mr. Mixon?
00:42:40None, like she said.
00:42:42You were a bum?
00:42:43No.
00:42:44Well, if you don't pay rent, you're a bum.
00:42:46We never had an agreement on that.
00:42:47You don't have to have an agreement.
00:42:49I was supposed to take care of the other bills in the house.
00:42:51She was supposed to do the rent.
00:42:52What other bills did you take care of?
00:42:54PG&E, water, and cable.
00:42:56How much was that a month?
00:42:58About $600.
00:42:59And you would pay all those bills and you have proof that you paid those bills?
00:43:02Yes.
00:43:02I'd like to see.
00:43:04Here's some of the bills.
00:43:06This doesn't go with that.
00:43:08And proof that you paid them?
00:43:10I got the receipts.
00:43:11If I gave her the receipt, it was only because she dropped me off at work early.
00:43:15What's the Salvation Army?
00:43:17We went and bought a computer desk and a TV stand that I paid for.
00:43:22She said, I don't do nothing, though.
00:43:23When did you buy this furniture?
00:43:25I bought it maybe a month after I moved in with her.
00:43:28I came in with a futon.
00:43:29I came in with a stereo set.
00:43:31I came in with that set of baseball cards right there.
00:43:34Oh, well, that you're going to get that set of baseball cards?
00:43:36That's mine.
00:43:37I don't have a problem giving it back to him.
00:43:39Can I see the set of baseball cards, please?
00:43:42Oh, one of my children would be bonkers over those baseball cards.
00:43:46I have to take a look at that.
00:43:47Are you a real collector, sir?
00:43:55Yes.
00:43:56I had those since I was in the sixth grade.
00:43:57Mid-condition or what kind of condition are these?
00:43:59Damn mid-condition.
00:44:00Really?
00:44:01You know, they're worth a lot of money.
00:44:03Mm-hmm.
00:44:03Are these Tops baseball cards?
00:44:05Tops and Fleers.
00:44:06Well, Fleers aren't worth as much.
00:44:08I know.
00:44:08That's why I try to stay more with Tops.
00:44:10See?
00:44:10I know a little bit about it.
00:44:12I see.
00:44:13Okay.
00:44:14Give him back his baseball cards.
00:44:16Put your bird.
00:44:17Surprised he left without them.
00:44:19I also had a pending restraining order, which granted me possession rights of the bed,
00:44:25the couch, the TV, and the lamps that he's here.
00:44:27Show me.
00:44:28You mean property restraint that number 13 is circled?
00:44:36Is that what you're talking about?
00:44:38Yeah.
00:44:38I actually filed it.
00:44:40It asked me what possessions that I still had for me to temporarily keep possession of.
00:44:46Well, you can't temporarily keep possession of his property anymore.
00:44:49He's going to pick it up.
00:44:50You have a temporary restraining order.
00:44:52You have to send somebody to get your stuff.
00:44:54Okay.
00:44:54Sorry.
00:44:55Within five days.
00:44:56Do you understand?
00:44:56Yeah, that's fine with me.
00:44:58I just want my rent.
00:44:59Just a second.
00:45:00Listen to me.
00:45:01You're not entitled to any rent.
00:45:02You didn't have a contract with him for rent.
00:45:04We had a verbal agreement.
00:45:05The whole initial reason why he moved in was because I needed financial help.
00:45:09Listen to me very carefully.
00:45:10Madam, if you let somebody live with you for 13 months and they're not paying rent,
00:45:15you don't come to complain about it now.
00:45:17He's getting his furniture back.
00:45:19He got his cards back.
00:45:21Now we're going to hear about your tires, and I don't want to hear any nonsense about rent.
00:45:25Okay.
00:45:25Okay.
00:45:28Judge Judy.
00:45:32Oh, tires.
00:45:33Well, my witness here saw him slash the second tire on that day.
00:45:39Your name?
00:45:40Leandra Whitmore.
00:45:41On what day did you allegedly see Mr. Mixon slash a tire?
00:45:45I forgot.
00:45:46No, don't look over there.
00:45:47Don't look over here.
00:45:48Look over here.
00:45:48I forgot what day it was on, but it was the same day as the first tire.
00:45:52We were at the studio recording.
00:45:53I'm a recording engineer.
00:45:54I record her.
00:45:55And I heard the car skirped by the first time.
00:45:57I was sitting at the computer.
00:45:59And I had came outside.
00:46:00When I came outside, I saw him by her left tire.
00:46:03Then he ran and got in his car and drove off.
00:46:05Did you tell her about it?
00:46:07Mm-hmm.
00:46:07I came right in.
00:46:08Did you file a police report that day?
00:46:10No, we didn't do a police report.
00:46:12Why not?
00:46:13Because that was the first incident of numerous amounts of incidents.
00:46:16What difference does it make?
00:46:17Because he, I kind of, I didn't want to get in it because he's family with my uncle.
00:46:22And I didn't want to say anything, but things keep happening.
00:46:25Did you ever file a police report?
00:46:26No, ma'am.
00:46:27I filed one later after his witness started harassing us.
00:46:32I mean, this lady, she has nothing to do with this case.
00:46:35She has nothing to do with me.
00:46:36She has nothing to do with anything that's going on.
00:46:38I agree.
00:46:38The only thing that I have to worry about today is, am I satisfied that he slashed a tire?
00:46:45I'm not so sure you saw anything.
00:46:46Sit down.
00:46:48I'm not convinced you saw anything.
00:46:50I am convinced that you're going to get your old furniture back.
00:46:53Okay.
00:46:53Five days.
00:46:53You make the arrangements to get it, send somebody else to get it.
00:46:56And who is this person?
00:46:57That's the neighbor.
00:46:58She, she's the one who pulled my clothes in when Keisha threw my stuff out in the rain.
00:47:02Absolutely not.
00:47:03She's a nosy hag.
00:47:05Listen to me.
00:47:05Whose neighbor is she?
00:47:06She's my neighbor.
00:47:08Okay.
00:47:08Well, good luck.
00:47:10Bye.
00:47:12He can have his beat up crackhead furniture bag.
00:47:16I'm happy with her decision.
00:47:18I only kept it because I wanted my rent.
00:47:20But like I said, I'm a working broad.
00:47:21So it's nothing.
00:47:22I tried to take care of the bills first and not go partying until all the bills was done.
00:47:26If I'm wrong for that, then I'll stay wrong.
00:47:28And now the next case.
00:47:31All parties in the matter of Trammell versus Moore Barclay.
00:47:35Step forward, please.
00:47:3624-year-old Christopher Trammell is suing his stepfather-in-law, Orlando Moore, and his son, 16-year-old Kendall Barclay, for the cost to fix his Chevy Blazer.
00:47:48Mr. Trammell, I assume it's this young man who is your wife's half-brother?
00:47:53Yes.
00:47:53And you're his father?
00:47:55Yes, ma'am.
00:47:55According to your complaint, this young man whose name is?
00:47:58Kendall.
00:47:59Kendall came for a visit?
00:48:01Yes.
00:48:01Visiting his sister.
00:48:02And you opened your house and said, sure, he can stay with us.
00:48:05It was during a holiday period?
00:48:07Well, the February recess.
00:48:08And while he was there, without your permission, he took your car and he crashed it?
00:48:13Yes.
00:48:14You want his father to be responsible for the damage?
00:48:17Yes, ma'am.
00:48:17And his father said, you know that he's nothing but trouble and that you should have watched him more carefully.
00:48:23Well...
00:48:23That's his defense.
00:48:25Why don't you sit down for a moment, sir?
00:48:27I'll get to you in a minute.
00:48:31Kendall!
00:48:33Are your hands in your pockets?
00:48:36No.
00:48:37Perfect.
00:48:37How old are you?
00:48:38Sixteen.
00:48:39Do I make you nervous?
00:48:40No.
00:48:41It's unfortunate.
00:48:42I will try to change that.
00:48:44Why would your father say that you're trouble?
00:48:47I am.
00:48:47What do you mean you are?
00:48:49Sometimes I make trouble.
00:48:51You make trouble at home?
00:48:52No.
00:48:53Where?
00:48:53On the streets.
00:48:54But you've never been in trouble with the police?
00:48:56No.
00:48:57You're lucky.
00:48:58Now, why did you decide to go to visit your sister?
00:49:01Because I wanted to spend time with my nephew.
00:49:03I don't understand you.
00:49:04When you're mumbling, make believe you're outside talking to your friends.
00:49:06I wanted to spend time with my nieces and nephews.
00:49:09That's a good thing.
00:49:10How did you get there?
00:49:11Chris picked me up.
00:49:12Your sister's husband?
00:49:13Yeah.
00:49:14Yes?
00:49:15Yes.
00:49:15So he's a pretty nice guy?
00:49:17Yeah.
00:49:17So he's a pretty nice guy?
00:49:20Yeah.
00:49:22So he's a pretty nice guy?
00:49:23No.
00:49:24Yes.
00:49:25Say yes.
00:49:26Yes.
00:49:27Do you have a driver's license?
00:49:29No.
00:49:30What does that mean to you when you don't have a driver's license?
00:49:33I can't drive.
00:49:34Tell me about when you took his car.
00:49:36Well, they were sleeping when I took their car.
00:49:38They were sleeping.
00:49:39So it was late at night.
00:49:40Yes.
00:49:41Where were you going?
00:49:42I wanted to ride up to Wegmans.
00:49:44I don't understand a word you said.
00:49:46I wanted to ride to Wegmans.
00:49:48I wanted to ride to Wegmans.
00:49:50And where did you get the keys from?
00:49:52They're on the entertainment system.
00:49:53So you stole the keys?
00:49:55Yes.
00:49:55And you stole the car?
00:49:57Yes.
00:49:57And what happened?
00:49:58I drove up to Wegmans and I came back.
00:50:01I don't hear you.
00:50:02I drove up to Wegmans and then I came back.
00:50:04I was going to park the car because my brother, he parks in a certain spot.
00:50:07I don't hear you.
00:50:09I drove the car to Wegmans and I came back.
00:50:12And then I wanted to get in the driveway.
00:50:14So I was parked in the wrong spot.
00:50:15So I had to move it.
00:50:16I went and moved the car and then I took off.
00:50:20And then they hit the next door neighbor's house.
00:50:21You hit the next door neighbor's house?
00:50:23Yes.
00:50:24What did you do?
00:50:25I didn't do nothing.
00:50:26And the cops came.
00:50:27So then they asked me a few questions and I answered them.
00:50:30Now you can stand up.
00:50:33Does your son go to school?
00:50:35Yes, ma'am.
00:50:36Does he have a job?
00:50:37No, ma'am.
00:50:38Why not?
00:50:38He is currently looking for employment.
00:50:41Well, when was the last time he had employment?
00:50:43He is 16 years old.
00:50:45There's only very few jobs in Rochester for a 16-year-old to do.
00:50:49So let me ask you this question, sir.
00:50:51Who do you think is responsible for him?
00:50:53To be honest, when Christopher came to my address and picked Kendall up, I figured he assumed full responsibility.
00:51:01Yes, he wasn't supposed to see that anything happened to him.
00:51:04But let's say that your son, while he was visiting with his sister and her husband, committed a burglary.
00:51:12Would that have been his fault?
00:51:13Yes, ma'am.
00:51:14Now, 16-year-old boy, who's almost as big as his father, knows the difference between right and wrong.
00:51:22And one way or another, sir, you have to teach him a lesson.
00:51:25And what lesson is he looking at this year?
00:51:28He wasn't arrested.
00:51:29No.
00:51:29So there were no repercussions from the justice system, right?
00:51:33As far as I know, yes.
00:51:34So what lesson do you think this whole process is teaching your son?
00:51:38I think he's pretty much learned his lesson.
00:51:40Why?
00:51:41What has he had to do as a result of this?
00:51:44He's gotten most of his privileges taken away.
00:51:47What privileges did he have taken away?
00:51:49No computer, no...
00:51:51No computer.
00:51:54What else?
00:51:55He has his PlayStation and iPod taken away from...
00:51:58Taking away someone's iPod, sir, is not exactly punishment for destroying this man's car.
00:52:07See, Kendall has an ADHD situation.
00:52:10So do 40% of the children, according to statistics in this country.
00:52:14They don't steal cars.
00:52:15They don't steal cars.
00:52:16They do, they do.
00:52:17Yeah, so do a lot of people without ADHD steal cars.
00:52:20You know, don't give him an excuse, Mr. Moore.
00:52:23You give him an excuse for doing the wrong thing, that he's ADHD, and I guarantee you, you're going to be looking for trouble forever.
00:52:31Forever.
00:52:32ADHD has nothing to do with stealing cars.
00:52:35He wanted to go to a store.
00:52:37He took the car to go to a store.
00:52:38He knew he had no right to take the car to go to a store.
00:52:41That has nothing to do with ADHD.
00:52:43That has to do with doing the wrong thing.
00:52:45That's the frame of mind.
00:52:46That's why he takes the medication so it keeps his mind focused off of things like this.
00:52:50I have 11 grandchildren, sir.
00:52:54I reared and helped rear five children.
00:52:57I know all about this ADHD stuff, and I know all about parents who will make excuses for their children's bad behavior and ascribe it to a learning disability.
00:53:09So, if that's, believe me, he was focusing on getting the keys and going to the store.
00:53:14Believe me.
00:53:15You're going to pay him, and he's going to pay you, and then there is a reaction to his action, and I guarantee you, sir, that's as good as any medication he takes.
00:53:28So, there's...
00:53:29Any medication he takes.
00:53:30So, there's no responsibility on his side at all?
00:53:33It would be different if he threw him the keys and said, take the car and go to the store.
00:53:37I wasn't there.
00:53:38He just told me what happened.
00:53:39He waited until they went to sleep, and then he went to the entertainment center where the keys were kept, and he took the keys.
00:53:44He told me that.
00:53:46Not him.
00:53:46You make excuses for him, sir.
00:53:48You're going to find yourself before a judge much more frequently than the one time you're going to appear before me.
00:53:54And you give him the excuse of having ADHD for excuse for bad behavior, you are committing a terrible...
00:54:02It's not an excuse.
00:54:02...terrible.
00:54:03It's an excuse.
00:54:05One thing had nothing to do with the other with regard to his taking that truck that day.
00:54:10And if you give him an excuse, you are parentally doing to him a terrible disservice.
00:54:15I, however, am doing him a service.
00:54:18Because unless you want to be out $4,500 yourself, what you're going to do is you're going to have him get a job,
00:54:25and every penny that he earns, he's going to give you until the $4,500 is paid off.
00:54:30Judge him for the plaintiff in the amount of $4,500.
00:54:32Yeah, I think that he should have been watched a little more.
00:54:38I didn't think I had to be up 24 hours to watch him.
00:54:40In the future, I don't think he'll be going over to his sisters.
00:54:43He knows when I told him to go to bed, he knows that he should have been in the bed.
00:54:47Miss Lager, these two young men used to be friends of yours.
00:54:56And it is your claim that some time ago, they vandalized your car while they were probably drunk, acting like fools.
00:55:04What's your last name?
00:55:05Boots.
00:55:05And yours?
00:55:06Boots.
00:55:07Are you brothers?
00:55:07Yes, we are.
00:55:08The Boots brothers.
00:55:09Yep, yep.
00:55:09You ought to make a movie out of them.
00:55:13They say it wasn't them.
00:55:15When did this happen, Miss Lager?
00:55:18On my 21st birthday, June 3rd, 2006.
00:55:20And where was your car at the time?
00:55:23It was at my boyfriend's mother's house, Denel the Foley's.
00:55:26That would be you?
00:55:27Yes.
00:55:28Could you stand up?
00:55:28Because you weren't there.
00:55:29Correct, I was not there.
00:55:31When had you parked your car in front of your boyfriend's mother's house?
00:55:35Well, I was letting her borrow it for quite some time because her vehicle was getting fixed at the time.
00:55:40What kind of car did you have?
00:55:41It was a 2001 Nibira Dew.
00:55:43Could you keep your voice up?
00:55:45I'm old.
00:55:45It was a 2001 Nibira Dew.
00:55:47What is that?
00:55:48It's a four-door silver vehicle.
00:55:51Nibira.
00:55:51Where is that made?
00:55:53I believe Korea.
00:55:54But I'm not sure.
00:55:55I never heard of it.
00:55:56I'm so pleased that you didn't.
00:55:58I'm sure it's a lovely car.
00:56:00It was a lovely car.
00:56:01Miss Foley, do you remember June 3rd, 2006?
00:56:04Yes.
00:56:04I knew you were home on June 3rd, 2006.
00:56:07Which one of the Boots boys is going to speak?
00:56:10I will.
00:56:11And what is your first name?
00:56:12Brent.
00:56:12And yours?
00:56:13My name's Nick.
00:56:14No, I think I want Nick to speak.
00:56:17Now, Nick, how far do you live from Miss Foley?
00:56:21Only like two blocks.
00:56:22You have any reason to be near Miss Foley's house?
00:56:25I'm friends with their kid.
00:56:26Keep your voice up, Nick.
00:56:27I'm best friends with their son.
00:56:28What's her son's name?
00:56:30Bart.
00:56:30Is that person here today?
00:56:31No, he's not.
00:56:33Your younger brother?
00:56:34Yeah, it was my younger brother.
00:56:35How long have you been friends?
00:56:37Since I was like two.
00:56:39Tell me about June 2006.
00:56:42No, no, no.
00:56:43Don't look there.
00:56:45Don't look there.
00:56:46Well, we're at her house.
00:56:53Sorry.
00:56:54We're at her house, like having a party or whatever, chilling, just a get-together.
00:56:59How many people were there?
00:57:01Just like four of us.
00:57:02Which four?
00:57:03The two Boots boys?
00:57:05Her.
00:57:06And then my girlfriend was there.
00:57:07And then her son was there.
00:57:09There were five of you there.
00:57:10That would be five.
00:57:11Let's count them.
00:57:11Four other than me.
00:57:12Nick, you want to count them?
00:57:14That would be five all together, right?
00:57:17And when had you started chilling?
00:57:19I'm not sure what time it was.
00:57:22Around nine or so, I'd say.
00:57:24Eight or nine.
00:57:25And then what happened, Nick?
00:57:26Uh-huh.
00:57:27We just had a...
00:57:28We were just drinking and whatnot, and then we left.
00:57:31Drinking.
00:57:32What were you drinking?
00:57:33Vodka.
00:57:34Where did you get the vodka from?
00:57:36I believe...
00:57:36No!
00:57:37Don't speak!
00:57:39Unless I speak to you.
00:57:42I want Nick.
00:57:43Don't speak.
00:57:44Where did you get the vodka from?
00:57:47I believe it was from her, because it was her 21st birthday.
00:57:50Jessica.
00:57:51Was she home?
00:57:52No.
00:57:52Well, where did you get the vodka from?
00:57:54We met up with them earlier on that day.
00:57:56And she gave you a bottle of vodka?
00:57:58Well, we...
00:57:59She purchased it for us.
00:58:00We gave her the money.
00:58:02So you gave Miss Lager the cash, and she went into a liquor store and purchased how much
00:58:10vodka?
00:58:11A liter.
00:58:12A liter.
00:58:13That's a big bottle, isn't it?
00:58:14Yeah, that's pretty big.
00:58:16And what were you mixing the liter with?
00:58:19Uh, we were just taking shots and drinking pop.
00:58:22Shots and pop?
00:58:23Shots and pop, yes.
00:58:25And then what happened?
00:58:26Nothing.
00:58:26We all had fun, and then once the night was over, we all went home.
00:58:31I didn't see Miss Lager's car.
00:58:33No.
00:58:34Miss Lager?
00:58:34Did you purchase vodka for them?
00:58:36No.
00:58:37I did not.
00:58:38No.
00:58:39I do not purchase vodka for underage minors.
00:58:42Why do you think they would make up that kind of story?
00:58:44To make it look good for themselves?
00:58:46Nah.
00:58:47They could have just said, you know, they found it.
00:58:50So I believe that you purchased it for them.
00:58:53It was my 21st birthday.
00:58:54Why would I purchase alcohol for them?
00:58:56I have no idea, because they were with your boyfriend's little brother.
00:58:59I wasn't even near them all day.
00:59:01I was with my mother all day.
00:59:02Okay.
00:59:03Miss Foley, tell me what you saw on June 3rd with regard to the Boots boys and Miss Lager's car.
00:59:10I was at home.
00:59:11My son Bartley came up late that night and said,
00:59:14Mother, Brent and Nick are out kicking in Jesse's car.
00:59:18You need to come out and make him stop.
00:59:19So I went down.
00:59:20I looked out the landing.
00:59:21Brent was on the hood of the car, the roof of the car.
00:59:24So I went down two more flights.
00:59:30By the time I got out there, Brent was off of the car, standing by the passenger mirror.
00:59:35Nick was standing in front of the car, trying to kick the headlight.
00:59:38And it said to me that he had kicked the headlight and it didn't break.
00:59:41And Brent said he kicked the mirror off, but it didn't come off all the way.
00:59:45And I asked him why they were doing that.
00:59:47And they were mad at Jessica, I guess, at the time.
00:59:50So why were you mad at Jessica?
00:59:52Jessica.
00:59:53Well, tell me why you were mad at her.
00:59:54I just want to know why you were mad at her.
00:59:56She stole a digital camera from my ex-girlfriend out of our house.
00:59:59Oh, then I don't believe that she bought you alcohol.
01:00:03There you go.
01:00:04See what happened?
01:00:05If you were mad at her, why would you give her money to buy you alcohol on the same day?
01:00:11She was always around anyways.
01:00:13Oh.
01:00:14I used to be best friends with him over there, her boyfriend.
01:00:17We all hung out every day.
01:00:18Now, she's the mother of your really good friend, right?
01:00:21Yes.
01:00:22So you know her for a long time.
01:00:24Most of my life.
01:00:24You go to her house?
01:00:25Put your hand down.
01:00:27You go to her house?
01:00:28Every day, practically.
01:00:30She sometimes gives you a sandwich?
01:00:32Yeah.
01:00:33You know?
01:00:33I eat over there occasionally, I could say.
01:00:35So you think there's any reason why she would lie about you?
01:00:38No.
01:00:39I wouldn't see a reason why she would.
01:00:40Why would she lie about her son's best friend, who she sees every day of his life,
01:00:45who she's very good to?
01:00:46Why would she lie about him?
01:00:48I don't know.
01:00:48Do you understand my problem here, Nick?
01:00:50Yes, I do.
01:00:51You know where I'm coming from?
01:00:53Sort of, yeah.
01:00:54Are you twins?
01:00:55No.
01:00:55Who's older?
01:00:56I'm older.
01:00:57What about your older brother here?
01:00:58Did he ever go over to Miss Foley's house?
01:01:00Yep.
01:01:01Eat at her house?
01:01:02We didn't really know much people in the area, so we were there all the time.
01:01:05And Miss Foley was always nice to you?
01:01:08Most of the time, yes.
01:01:09Can you think of any reason why she would tell such a horrendous lie about you vandalizing
01:01:13a car that she was driving?
01:01:15Huh?
01:01:16Maybe because Jessica's going to give her some money for it or something?
01:01:19No.
01:01:20Then you would have to say that she's a liar and a thief.
01:01:22She is.
01:01:23Miss Foley?
01:01:24Oh, not Miss Foley, but Jessica.
01:01:25I'm talking about Miss Foley.
01:01:28No, she's not a thief.
01:01:28Miss Foley is the one who identified you, not Miss Logger.
01:01:32Do you want to look at Miss Foley and tell her she's a liar?
01:01:35Nick!
01:01:36Yes.
01:01:37You want to look at Miss Foley and tell her she's a liar?
01:01:40You followed your brother.
01:01:42No.
01:01:43Say this.
01:01:44Miss Foley, you're a liar.
01:01:46I wish she wouldn't lie.
01:01:48That's what I said.
01:01:48Uh-huh.
01:01:50Evidently, you were a better friend than your older brother because you couldn't say it.
01:01:55Judge Judy continued.
01:01:58Jessica Lager says former friends Brent and Nick Boots vandalized her car by jumping on
01:02:04the hood and kicking the doors.
01:02:07Now, when you do something wrong, you're supposed to fess up.
01:02:11Now, it's possible that you two morons don't remember, because you were drinking a liter
01:02:15of vodka, what you did on the night of June 3rd.
01:02:19That's possible.
01:02:20How old are you?
01:02:21I'm 19.
01:02:22And you?
01:02:2321.
01:02:24Can I see an estimate on fixing your car in photographs, please?
01:02:27Are you still friendly with her youngest son?
01:02:47Not really.
01:02:49Was he also involved?
01:02:50Well, you don't know.
01:02:51Was your youngest son involved in this?
01:02:53He didn't.
01:02:54Nope.
01:02:54Was he?
01:02:55Just a second.
01:02:55Nope.
01:02:56He did not.
01:02:57Do anything to the car.
01:02:59Did you want to say something?
01:03:00I was going to say, I thought you were talking about him, but I am friends with her youngest
01:03:03son, yes.
01:03:04No, I asked if her youngest son did anything to this car.
01:03:08He wasn't there.
01:03:08He was upstairs the whole time.
01:03:14Did you hear what he said?
01:03:15He said, no, he wasn't there.
01:03:16He was upstairs all the time.
01:03:19He just let him go and go and go.
01:03:20And after a while, they just, you know.
01:03:22They'll sign off.
01:03:23They just sign off on it, right?
01:03:24It was in an accident.
01:03:26Yeah, her car was in an accident before that, and it was all dented, and she was trying to
01:03:31say that we did all that when it couldn't possibly.
01:03:33How much did you do?
01:03:34I didn't do nothing.
01:03:35Yes, you did.
01:03:36No, I didn't.
01:03:37No, yes, yes, you did.
01:03:38Now, if you said to me, listen, we got a little drunk, and we.
01:03:56No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
