00:23Bird of Paradise is the max period.
00:27I was there about 10 years ago, I was there.
00:30Papua New Guinea was very dark.
00:33The people were so bright dark.
00:35And suddenly I saw this bird, this big contrast,
00:39the beauty, the colour, the colour of the bird,
00:43and I said, okay, let's try it.
00:45But I'm not going to paint a bird, or I'm going to draw a bird,
00:48but I'm going to get the beauty, the colour, the energy of the bird.
00:53And it took me four years to get it done.
00:55Yusuf Ghani adds, amidst the darkness of the forest,
00:58the radiant bird appeared like a dream,
01:00leaving a deep and lasting impression on him.
01:03He described being almost hypnotised by its beauty,
01:06an experience that stayed with him long after returning to Malaysia.
01:10He explained that moment of awe eventually evolved into Cenderawasi,
01:14Energy and Emotion, a series focused on aesthetic exploration.
01:18Using oil and charcoal on canvas, Yusuf blends layered colours
01:23and tonal contrasts to reflect the bird's vibrant spirit and emotional depth.
