Kolkata, June 25, 2025 (ANI): Dr. Archana Majumder, Member of the National Women Commission, addressed the gang rape incident that occurred at a South Kolkata law college. She stated that till now, they have not received the victim's or her family’s contact information from the police. Furthermore, Dr. Majumder expressed that the police have not been cooperating with the NCW in their efforts to address the case.
00:00This is really unfortunate that after such a heinous crime, the commission member is located in Kolkata and she is desperately trying to get contacts, her address, contact numbers, everything from police, which has not yet been served to us.
00:19I have not only contacted SP South Kolkata and I gave her, texted her message. She didn't respond. Maybe she is too busy. Then I talked with the local OC. She said, yes, ma'am, right now I am sending. But you talk with our senior. Then you need to talk with the further superior.
00:40The commission is asking about the victim's location, victim's address. And that is denied now. And you know from my medical source, being a doctor, I know local, I am local.
00:52So I inquired yesterday she was taken to Kolkata National Medical College Hospital where her medical was not done. It is 72 hours crossed.
01:01And yesterday they said she will go to Kolkata Medical College. There she was not sent there. Today she is supposed to go to NRS Medical College. That also under question.
01:12So they are intentionally, I will say intentionally, they are delaying medical examination. You know in rape case it has to be done as early as possible.
01:22And it is not done by police. At least from day before yesterday when the complaint is lost, she should have been her medical test immediately. And so many medical college hospitals are there.
01:33If they have any issue, the central government has got AIMS, has got, they have a command hospital, ESA hospital, so many.
01:41So doing a rape case post medical test, medical legal is not a big job. So they are not doing, neither they are communicating with commission, they are not caring.
01:52They are, they have intention to do the same thing as they did in case of R. Jigar. I believe so.
01:59As a member in commission, trying to work for the victim, we want to know her location, how she is, is she protected, the family is protected, or their, what is being done.
02:11We are concerned with the welfare of the girl, which is not done, nor commission is intimated. This is a, not only unfortunate, there is a, you can say, law and order mismanagement.
02:26It is not expected.
02:27What step do you take in Hindi?
02:30What step would you take after?
02:35I had a talk in the morning with our chairperson, and they are also communicating with other departments, so they will let me know within one hour what to be done,
02:45and we, as well as we will write letters for the memorandums or office letter.
02:51Accordingly, they are bound to serve us the numbers, the location, everything, but delay will not get back.
02:58The time is, the two days' time that we are after the girl, and she is not getting any contact, what is being done.
03:06That is to not, don't open it to public, but we should know.
03:11We are commissioned, we are here to see what actually happening, but they are keeping us in dark.
03:18This is not expected.
03:19They should cooperate for investigation, for welfare of women in the society.
03:25Such a heinous crime that has to be worked together, hand in hand.
