00:05I'm from Hawaii, and this is my second year on the Challenger Series.
00:10My first year was definitely very challenging.
00:13We're at the Belita Pro.
00:15Iwawang looking to advance.
00:20I'm not the strongest turn of the heat so far.
00:22I kept losing first round, and I kind of got stuck in that.
00:26Ooh, again, another little era.
00:28It was very discouraging, and I had a really hard time getting out of that.
00:34I wasn't really happy with myself and my surfing.
00:38My mindset was the biggest challenge to overcome.
00:46So far this year, I already feel so much better and stronger mentally.
00:51This is my first year traveling by myself without my mom.
00:54I really like my mom being by my side,
00:57but I also like having the independence.
01:01I do want to work on my competition.
01:03Surfing, I feel a lot more confident just free surfing,
01:07but I want to start surfing like myself in competition.
01:11I get performance anxiety when I'm chasing scores.
01:14Surfing is such an individual sport that every decision you make comes with a lot of pressure.
01:19If I'm going to have a future in professional surfing, I need to learn how to overcome that anxiety.
