00:00And then you're like, man, you look like you could be my wife, like, this is feeling good.
00:03And then you're like, oh, you've got a boyfriend out in California that I know about.
00:07How about that?
00:08You look great.
00:08Nice.
00:09Yeah, my hair, bro, it's been like, I've been sweating all day.
00:12So it's like.
00:16I call it New Chapter, Same Me.
00:23This album I've worked on for like two years straight.
00:26I almost dropped it last year.
00:28And then it didn't feel like it was good enough.
00:30I didn't love it enough.
00:30So I just did it.
00:31I canceled everything.
00:33Now I feel like, wow, this is this is telling my story.
00:43I saw that Big X was wanting to put out a country EP, a country project.
00:48And I remember sitting in my studio being like, man, how cool would that be?
00:53Well, he didn't text me, so I guess I'm not on it.
00:55Right.
00:55And then like three months later, he texts me and he's like, hey, do you like this song?
00:59And I'm like, dude, yeah.
01:01What are you talking about?
01:02Do I like this song?
01:02He goes, do you want to put vocals on it?
01:04I'm like, yeah, of course.
01:06So I put the vocals on the song.
01:07First mix we got back.
01:08It was like, dude, this is insane.
01:11I was just I knew it.
01:12I was like, bro, that's that smash.
01:15That feels so good.
01:16Like, it's insane.
01:24A little story that nobody knows, Big X wasn't supposed to tease all the way.
01:29He did it randomly.
01:30He did it with this one version of the song that was like the first version we had got
01:34back.
01:35It wasn't finished.
01:36It hadn't been produced.
01:37Like nothing was done.
01:38Puts it out.
01:39And we're all like, all right, let's go.
01:41Let's go.
01:42So then I start pushing it.
01:43He starts pushing it.
01:44The reason it took so long to come out was because it wasn't done when we teased it.
01:49We weren't supposed to tease it.
01:50And now I have a freaking song on the rap charts for freaking Big X, dude.
01:53Whoa.
01:59I would say what inspired Different Nights, Same Rodeo is how my life has been like the
02:04last like three years, four years, kind of like I've been looking for a wife and I say
02:10it like looking for a wife, but it's kind of like, I'm just looking for my person.
02:12Cause I want kids.
02:14I want a family.
02:14I want, I want that life, you know?
02:17And I feel like I've been, you know, I'd meet a girl.
02:19Oh, she's got boyfriends.
02:20She's cheating on her boyfriend with me now.
02:21The girls always got underlying red flags that you don't see.
02:25And they're like, man, you look like you could be my wife.
02:28Like this is feeling good.
02:29And then they're like, Oh, you've got a boyfriend out in California that I know about.
02:32How about that?
02:33That's kind of what inspired Different Nights, Same Rodeo is just like continuing to meet
02:37these girls and think something is going to come out of it.
02:39And then all of a sudden red flags and it's like Different Nights, Same Rodeo, dude.
02:45Religiously was stories from kind of my teenage years and feelings that I'd felt through there.
02:50Now Different Nights, Same Rodeo is really kind of what my life has been like since famous.
02:56Girls on the road and touring all the time and feelings of that.
03:00And it's a new project.
03:01I call it new chapter, same me.
03:09I got the song a long time before I texted him the song.
03:13But the first time I heard it, I was like, dude, Luke would crush this song.
03:18Like, I love it, but I feel like Luke would crush it.
03:20But again, don't have his number, so I don't know what I'm going to do.
03:23You know, I'm not going to text his manager and try to get his number, you know.
03:26So I was like, ah, you know, God's plan.
03:27And I'll just let it flow, see what happens.
03:30And he ended up inviting me to Concert for Carolina.
03:33We became really good friends that day.
03:36And then at the end of the night, we played the show, just had an absolute night together.
03:40He's like, hey, man, like, here's this envelope.
03:42And I opened it and it was like this huge thank you so much, like handwritten note from Luke.
03:47And at the bottom, it had his number.
03:49And I'm like, holy crap.
03:51So then I still didn't text him because I was nervous.
03:53One day I'd woke up and I'd been wanting to send it, but I was like, nah, not feeling it.
03:58And then one day I was like, send through my phone.
04:00I was like, whoa, okay, send it.
04:02Holy crap.
04:03Paced around my phone, you know, for a second, like waiting for a reply.
04:06No reply, so I just quit.
04:07Took him a month, a month.
04:09He didn't reply for a month.
04:10But I had heard that from people on the inside, they were telling me like, hey, man, Luke's been jamming that song.
04:16He really loves it.
04:17Like, don't, don't think he's saying no.
04:19Like, he hasn't texted you back yet.
04:20He hasn't said no.
04:21Like, keep hanging because I think he's going to do it.
04:23And I'm like, all right, all right.
04:24One day he texts me, this song rips, I'm in.
04:27And I just like looked at my phone.
04:30I'm like, I got chills right now.
04:32Like, just that moment was like, like, holy crap.
04:37Like, I'm about to have a song with Luke freaking Combs.
04:39Let's go.
04:40And now we're like good friends.
04:41It's top 20 on country radio.
04:43Like, crazy, dude.
04:44Another one unexpected.
04:46Definitely didn't think it would happen.
04:47God is good, dude.
04:48You never know what's going to happen, man.
04:50Let's go.
04:50If you got something to prove, go on and prove it.
04:54Don't let nobody clip your wings.
04:56You could never imagine shooting a music video on Stagecoach stage, headlining Sunday night.
05:03Crazy crowd.
05:04Insane energy.
05:05Me and Luke Combs.
05:06Like, you couldn't even imagine that.
05:08And he's like, hey, we should do the video at Stagecoach.
05:10And I'm like, let's do it, dude.
05:12Like, he didn't have to do that.
05:13He didn't have to, like, let me come on his stage to sing my song.
05:16Like, you know, so, man, dude, shout out Luke Combs, bro.
05:19Like, that guy is an absolute dog.
05:21Has shown me so much love when I hadn't really earned it.
05:24Great, dude.
05:24Yeah, back up playing, baby.
05:25Let's go.
05:28I would say when we get in the studio, we just, like, flow.
05:32Like, I don't like having a thing we're, like, kind of chasing.
05:36I kind of just like to get in and then start riffing on a guitar.
05:39Start riffing on something.
05:41Like, get a vibe going.
05:42And then what does that vibe feel like?
05:44What are we feeling?
05:44And if we don't like it, switch something else.
05:46Like, I hate being locked on something.
05:47So, studio day could start out and get a song quick.
05:51Or I could start out and it goes till 2 a.m.
05:53Because I haven't found nothing I like.
05:54And then we quit and we go do it again the other day.
05:56So, it's, like, random.
05:58I love, my ADHD just loves getting in the studio and going,
06:02I don't know what I'm going to do.
06:03Because I feel like that's when I make my best stuff is when I don't know what I'm going to do.
06:06And all of a sudden it just comes out, you know, so.
06:08Ain't a thing change around here but the money.
06:11You try to mix it up but let me tell you something.
06:14When New to Country came about, it was kind of a song that was sitting in my notes folder on my app, notes app.
06:20And I didn't know what I was going to do with.
06:21I didn't know if I was going to put it out.
06:23I didn't know what to do with it but I always loved it.
06:25And I always caught myself turning it on and jamming it.
06:28So, I started thinking, man, I don't really have that party song, that fun one that kind of tells who I am.
06:34The whole thing around New to Country is kind of like the funny thing that I'm not.
06:39Like I may dress like I'm like not country and I dress like I'm in the city but I grew up in a village of 800 people in southern Illinois.
06:47And as country as you could possibly be, I was farming my whole life, baling hay, stacking hay my whole life, cattle, grain, everything, man.
06:56I was doing all the country stuff, man.
06:57And up until I got famous or whatever, like started doing music, I was, I'm still that kid.
07:04But I just dress a little different.
07:07But I'm still that same kid.
07:08And that's what I wanted New to Country to be, was just like, listen, you may think you know me, but this is how I grew up.
07:13This is how I was raised.
07:14This is how we do it, where we're from.
07:16I'm anything but new to it.
07:24Every single stop on the tour, I'm so excited for it.
07:28The first stop's in Indianapolis, Indiana.
07:30And that's like three hours from my hometown and it's sold out.
07:33You know I'm bringing the energy there, man.
07:35And St. Louis, Missouri, that's only two hours from me.
07:37You know I'm bringing that energy.
07:39Honestly, every single show on the New to Country Tour, energy filled.
07:43That's who I am, though.
07:44Like, I can't just stand.
07:45I'm having a hard time just standing here, man.
07:47I'm like, I just, I've got, I've got ADHD so bad that I've just got energy constantly.
07:52Like, so, yeah, bringing the energy every show.
08:00You are country.
08:02You can't be country.
08:03You are country.
08:03I am country.
08:05I just dress a little different.
08:07You are country.
08:08You are country.
08:09You are country.
08:10You are country.
08:11You are country.
08:12You are country.
08:13You are country.
08:14You are country.
08:15You are country.
08:16You are country.
08:17You are country.
08:18You are country.
08:19You are country.
08:20You are country.
08:21You are country.
08:22You are country.
08:23You are country.
08:24You are country.
08:25You are country.
08:26You are country.
08:27You are country.
08:28You are country.
