Speaker Emerita Pelosi responds to the closed-door briefing on U.S. strikes on Iran.
Transcript
00:00What Trump is saying is that Iran's capability to build a nuclear weapon has been totally
00:07obliterated.
00:08Is that an accurate statement for the president?
00:10Let me just say, I'm almost sorry I went into this briefing because almost everything that
00:17was there is in the public domain.
00:19A little bit additional information.
00:21So we can't really discuss because it would be confirming or denying what we have seen.
00:29There has been no evidence presented in the public domain.
00:36Let's just talk about the public domain that talks about obliterating.
00:41Obliterating is a very total word.
00:45So perhaps with further information, we do know in the public domain that the enriched uranium
00:55is still there.
00:58And that was never part of the goal.
01:01So let's just say, very clearly, Iran cannot have an agreement.
01:08Progress has been made to make sure that doesn't, to, not ensure, but to take us closer to making
01:16decisions.
01:17So let's just declare that victory.
01:19Israel is our friend.
01:20It is in our national security to be, their national security is in our interests, in our
01:23national security.
01:24So in terms of Israel and Iran, we're all not going to move them up.
01:25We're all on the same page.
01:26By and large, I think, on the same page.
01:27I can't speak for a Democrat, but by and large.
01:28So if you take those two things, and then you go in the way it did, it made progress.
01:47Rack about that.
01:48But don't define it in a way that's yet to be proven.
01:51Do you think the president was right to authorize this mission?
01:54Oh, no.
01:55No, that's a different question.
01:57But again, not to.
01:58Why do you say no?
01:59Well, because the Constitution of the United States says that he should be coming to Congress.
02:04And even if he, since he's evolved the Constitution, at least it would have been smart for him
02:11to talk to Congress about it.
02:13I mean, I have 30 years experience and intelligence.
02:16From over 20 years of that, I was in the Gang of Eight or the Gang of Four.
02:21And sometimes they expanded into eight.
02:25And this, we have always had, from all the presidents, the full intelligence of what they were going to do.
02:34Whether that was a vote of Congress or not, at least it was a sharing of information.
02:39Before Iraq and I opposed it on Iraq, we had all of the data that they had, by and large.
02:46Last question, I'll let you go.
02:48What did you, what's the reaction to what happened in New York this week with Zoran Mondani,
02:52a Democratic Socialist winning the nomination for mayor?
02:55Does that concern you at all?
02:56Their election is still in process, but congratulations to the nominee for the Democratic Party.
03:02My focus politically is strictly winning the House.
03:06So that's where my focus is.
03:09I appreciate it.
03:10That's your time.
