🌙 Importance of Muharram
First Month of Islamic Year

Muharram is the first month in the Islamic (Hijri) calendar.

It marks the beginning of the Islamic year.

One of the Sacred Months

Allah has declared four months as sacred:
Dhul Qa’dah, Dhul Hijjah, Muharram, and Rajab.

In these months, rewards of good deeds increase and sins are more serious.

Month of Allah (Shahrullah)

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:
“The best fast after Ramadan is in the month of Allah, Muharram.”
(Muslim)

Day of Ashura (10th Muharram)

On this day, Allah saved Prophet Musa (Moses) عليه السلام and Bani Israel from Pharaoh.

Fasting on this day forgives the sins of the previous year.

Prophet ﷺ used to fast on this day and recommended it.

Narrated in Sahih Muslim.

Martyrdom of Imam Hussain (RA)

On 10th Muharram (Ashura), Imam Hussain (RA), the grandson of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, was martyred in Karbala.

His sacrifice reminds us of standing for truth, justice, and patience in hardship.

Time for Reflection and Repentance

A month to remember the trials of Prophets and the steadfastness in faith.

Muslims focus on seeking forgiveness and increasing good deeds.
