00:381, 2, 1, 2, 1, 3, 1, 4, 1, 2, 1, 3, 1, 2, 1.
01:03So, I want to first say thank you. Thank you to the leaders.
01:18One more year! One more year! One more year! One more year! One more year! One more year!
01:29One more year! One more year! One more year! One more year!
01:36So, listen. Listen. Listen. Notice how we utilize the letter F.
01:50We utilize the letter F for faith. Our opponents use the letter F for profanity.
01:58So, we need to stay focused, no distractions, and grind. Focus, no distractions, and grind. Focus, no distractions, and grind.
02:15We're straight ahead. We're straight ahead. We're straight ahead.
02:20Listen. All my life, people have been having moments of trying to distract me.
02:29They tried to distract me when I couldn't read. They called me a dumb student. They tried to distract me when I went with clothing with holes in the shoes and cardboard in the soles.
02:42They called me poor. They tried to distract me when I got arrested as a little boy and beat by police officers. They called me a criminal.
02:51They tried to distract me when I wanted to study and move up through the ranks in the police department and fight for reform.
02:58They said it wasn't possible. They tried to distract me when I became a state senator. They tried to distract me when I became the black bar president.
03:07They tried to distract me when I became the mayor. And no matter what distraction they threw at me, God has made the pathway for me to achieve.
03:17So you can call me all the names you want, but I'm going to answer to only one, Mayor Adams.
03:30So I want to thank all of you. Look at this beautiful display of diversity that's here.
03:46Look at people from all corners of the city and different ethnicities and faiths and groups, not people who read about me, but people that I have touched individually, that I stood in hospitals with, that I looked at their families and made their lives better.
04:05Look at the display that's here of different languages and different cultures. All of us wanting the same thing.
04:12I'm so proud to be here to say to the people of the city of New York, I am seeking re-election to be your mayor of the city of New York.
04:22The champ is here. One more year. One more year. One more year. One more year. One more year. One more year. One more year.
04:34So, so, so let me, let me take you back. Because many people have selective amnesia. So I want to take you back.
04:48January 1st, 2022, when I became mayor, there was this thing called COVID all over our city.
04:56You could walk down avenues and business districts and you see buildings, businesses were closed.
05:02And people were unsure. We were all wearing masks. People were debating. Should our children be in school or not?
05:09But as a leader that was unwavering, understanding the most safe place for our children were in school buildings.
05:16I stood strong and firm against the naysayers and said we're going to open our schools and we will protect our children.
05:22But we will continue to educate them so they won't continue to have the learning gap that COVID put on them and the socialization that they need.
05:30We saw leadership and focus. Crime was moving at a higher rate. Businesses were fleeing this city.
05:38That's right. There was a level of uncertainty. Black and brown unemployment was high.
05:42Black unemployment was four times the rates of white unemployment.
05:47We saw a level of uncertainty. Guns were proliferating our city.
05:51We were burying young people at disproportionate numbers. We didn't have the housing that we needed.
06:00All of these issues were facing us and we was inheriting that.
06:04January 1st, 2022, I was sending this building with my leadership and said we must forge ahead a pattern and a pathway
06:13that people needed to once again believe in the city again.
06:17And I saw that before. I didn't just start doing this. I saw it when Mayor Bloomberg came into office when our center of trade was collapsed
06:28and our poverty was matching that collapse. And he turned around the city with real leadership and focus.
06:35And I knew I had to have that same leadership and determination and focus.
06:40And that's why we're here today, asking for not one more year, not two more years, not three more years, but four more years.
06:57Let's be clear.
07:07Listen, folks.
07:09Didn't grow up with much.
07:12Born in Brownsville.
07:15My mother cleaned houses
07:17and roped in a daycare center
07:20where she took leftovers home to feed us.
07:24My siblings and I, we're little
07:27and we shared all we had.
07:30I wasn't born into power and privilege.
07:33I was born into struggle.
07:35Always knew what struggle was.
07:39And if you're going to be a man of people
07:40who are going through a lot,
07:43you must be a human being
07:44that has gone through a lot.
07:50And we experienced a lot of pain as a child.
07:52I rose through the ranks and became a captain
07:56and worked every day to protect the city,
07:59a city that I love.
08:01Later served in the state senate
08:03and then as Brooklyn Borough President.
08:05I didn't chase fame.
08:08I chased solutions.
08:09Whether it was fighting food insecurity
08:12or improving housing
08:13or lifting up working families,
08:16something that I continue today.
08:18When I became mayor,
08:19it was clear to me that what we were facing
08:21and how we had to turn it around.
08:23And one of the most important partnerships
08:25that I developed
08:26were the partnerships I developed
08:28with our faith-based leaders.
08:31They knew something that I knew.
08:34Prayer works.
08:36Many would look down on it
08:38and don't see the connection
08:39between prayer and government.
08:41I'm afraid of a man
08:42that don't appreciate prayer
08:43and the power of our faith-based leaders.
08:46And so when we look at all the things
08:49we were facing,
08:50ask yourself,
08:51what have we achieved?
08:53Let's talk about what we've done
08:55over the last few years.
08:57We brought down crime.
08:59The last six months
08:59has been the lowest number
09:01of shootings and homicides
09:02in the history of the city.
09:04And what does that mean
09:06for those of you who are here?
09:08Think about it for a moment.
09:10Who are the victims of shootings?
09:15Who are the victims of those
09:16who are shooting?
09:18So when we took 20,000 guns
09:20off our streets,
09:21we took it out of the hands
09:23of black and brown people
09:24and we prevented the loss of lives
09:26of black and brown people.
09:28This impacts you.
09:29It impacts those of you
09:31who are here right now.
09:32We've made smarter choices
09:35in the police department
09:37and more accountable.
09:38Gun arrests are record high.
09:40The removals of guns
09:41are record high.
09:43And what do we do
09:43with our economy?
09:44500,000 new jobs
09:46to this administration.
09:48More jobs in New York
09:49and the city's history, folks.
09:52Tech is booming.
09:54Tourism is back.
09:55Broadway had the best 12 months
09:57in recorded history.
09:59Construction is growing.
10:01And yes,
10:01Times Square is alive again.
10:04And what about our housing comeback?
10:07We've approved and launched
10:08more affordable housing
10:09in a single year
10:10in the history
10:12of the city of New York
10:13and we're going to break
10:14that record again.
10:15We're turning unused buildings
10:18into homes
10:19and streamlining,
10:20permitting and rezoned
10:21areas for growth.
10:23And you cannot have
10:24this conversation
10:25without talking about
10:26mental health.
10:27But we made the decision
10:29to take people
10:30from living up the street
10:31because there was
10:32nothing dignified
10:33by having encampments
10:34and tents
10:35and people living
10:36on the street.
10:36We knew that we had to
10:39remove from the blight
10:40of our city
10:41and give people
10:42the opportunity
10:43they deserve.
10:45And so when I'm here today,
10:46I say to you,
10:48we expanded treatment
10:49not just about
10:50for long term,
10:52for short term,
10:53but for long term.
10:54Mental illness
10:55has been treated
10:56like a police problem
10:57for far too long.
10:59We changed that
10:59dynamic on the streets
11:01and in our subway system.
11:04We have done more
11:05for education
11:06than any mayor
11:08in our city.
11:09130,000 pre-K.
11:12Over 100,000
11:13summer youth jobs,
11:14110,000
11:15and rise up.
11:16Put our children
11:17on the pathway
11:18to careers
11:18and employment.
11:20Dyslexia screening
11:21so 30% of our population
11:22won't sit in jail
11:24because they believe
11:25they're dumb
11:26instead of knowing
11:26that they learn differently.
11:28We have changed
11:29the trajectory
11:29of our children
11:30from what they eat
11:31to how they think.
11:33Teaching them meditation,
11:34breathing exercises,
11:36mindfulness
11:36so they can deal
11:37with the stress
11:38of being a young person.
11:39Soothe social media
11:40so it can stop
11:42indoctrinating
11:43and hurting
11:43our children.
11:45Aggressive.
11:46So I want to be clear
11:48as I make this
11:48re-election.
11:50What I'm fighting for,
11:53I didn't come into office
11:54with a personal agenda.
11:56I came with
11:57a personal mission.
11:59to fight
12:00for worker-class
12:01New Yorkers,
12:02people who work up
12:03at 5 a.m.
12:05and do double
12:06and triple jobs
12:07like my mother did.
12:08I fight for the restaurant
12:10workers in the Bronx,
12:11for the teachers
12:12in Queens,
12:14for the bodega owner
12:15in Brooklyn.
12:16That's why we gave them
12:16a panic button
12:17so they could stop
12:18being arrested
12:19and stop being
12:21assaulted
12:22and robbed.
12:24I fight for a
12:25Nigel grandmother
12:25in Harlem
12:26watching over
12:27her grandchildren.
12:28That's why we made sure
12:29we had
12:30in NYCHA
12:31high-speed broadband
12:33so their children
12:34can have
12:35remote learning
12:37and they can have
12:38telemedicine.
12:39I fight for everyday
12:41New Yorkers
12:41who just want
12:42their city
12:43to don work
12:44for them.
12:46And that's what
12:46we're doing.
12:47and I fight
12:50for small property
12:51owners.
12:53You have
12:56individuals
12:57who are running
12:58for mayor
12:59who was saying
13:00no rent.
13:03Those small
13:04property owners
13:05were losing
13:06their homes
13:06and many of them
13:08were black
13:08and brown.
13:09Their entire
13:10wealth was tied
13:11up into their
13:12small property
13:13owners.
13:13and we
13:14hurt them
13:15and now
13:16we are saying
13:17everything is
13:18going up
13:18around them.
13:19Heating
13:19courts,
13:21Con Edison,
13:22insurance
13:23and we're
13:24not willing
13:24to give them
13:25a small
13:261% increase
13:27in their rent
13:28so they can
13:29keep up.
13:29If we lose
13:30them,
13:31we lose
13:31the middle
13:32class in our
13:33city
13:33and I fight
13:34for them.
13:36So I'm
13:37not interested
13:38in Twitter
13:40politics.
13:41I'm interested
13:43in getting
13:44the trash
13:44picked up.
13:46I'm not
13:46interested
13:47in slogans.
13:48I'm interested
13:49in solutions.
13:51I don't
13:51work with
13:51special interests.
13:53I work
13:53for the
13:54people.
13:55I'm proud
13:56of the
13:56incredible
13:57team that
13:57we have
13:58built.
13:59First Deputy
14:00Mayor
14:00Mastro has
14:01brought a
14:01new dynamic
14:02into the
14:02city.
14:03My Chief
14:04of Staff
14:04Camille
14:05Joseph
14:05Volok
14:06has handled
14:06crises
14:07out of
14:07crises
14:08in an
14:09admirable
14:09way.
14:10Jessica
14:10Tish
14:11and her
14:12vision
14:12in the
14:12New York
14:13City
14:13Police
14:13Department
14:14started
14:14with my
14:15first
14:15commissioner
14:16that I
14:16appointed
14:17and is
14:17continuing
14:18to today.
14:19And the
14:19over 300,000
14:21city workers
14:22that I gave
14:23a fair
14:23contract to
14:24so they
14:24won't be
14:25afraid to
14:25be able to
14:26pay for
14:27the food
14:27that they
14:28need to
14:28place on
14:29their table.
14:29We build
14:30a government
14:31that works
14:31with urgency,
14:33compassion,
14:33and accountability.
14:35And guess
14:35what?
14:36The phones
14:37haven't stopped
14:37ringing.
14:38People
14:39have been
14:39calling
14:39and said
14:40we want
14:40to help
14:40Eric.
14:41We want
14:42you to
14:42continue
14:42to do
14:43what you
14:43do.
14:44How can
14:44we join
14:45Team Adams?
14:46The excitement
14:47has filled
14:47the air
14:48and you're
14:49going to see
14:49a movement
14:50that you've
14:50never witnessed
14:51before.
14:52And I told
14:52all of you
14:53in the beginning
14:54this was going
14:55to be the
14:55most interesting
14:56political
14:57campaign
14:58in the
14:58history
14:59of the
14:59city.
14:59It didn't
15:00stop
15:01on June
15:0224.
15:02It started
15:03on June
15:0424.
15:05and it
15:06would keep
15:06going
15:07into
15:07November
15:084.
15:10What a
15:11record.
15:12A record
15:13that stands
15:14above the
15:15noise.
15:17Now I know
15:17politics.
15:18Politics,
15:19you know,
15:20is loud.
15:20All you
15:20got to do
15:21is hear
15:21that noise
15:22in the
15:22park.
15:23We know
15:24that.
15:25Social media
15:26is loud.
15:28But let's
15:28have to look
15:28at the
15:28facts.
15:30There are
15:30some critics
15:31who spend
15:31more time
15:32attacking
15:32than
15:34achieving.
15:36Let me
15:37be clear.
15:38They have
15:39a record
15:40of tweets.
15:42I have
15:42a record
15:43on these
15:43streets.
15:46A record
15:47of results.
15:49They talk
15:50about problems,
15:51I fix
15:52them.
15:53That's
15:54the difference.
15:55You don't
15:56leave this
15:56city from
15:57a soapbox.
15:59You leave
16:00it from
16:00the ground
16:00up with
16:01action,
16:02not rhetoric.
16:04And one
16:04thing we
16:05do,
16:06we deliver
16:07and we
16:08never quit.
16:10The mayor
16:11for all
16:12faith,
16:13I never
16:14waived it
16:14when it
16:14came to
16:15protecting
16:15our houses
16:16of worship
16:16and the
16:16people who
16:17worship
16:17inside them.
16:19When hate
16:19appears in
16:20our community,
16:21it doesn't
16:21matter if
16:22it's our
16:22Sikh members,
16:24our Jewish
16:25members,
16:25our Christian
16:26members,
16:26when you
16:26desecrate
16:27our statues,
16:29I'm there
16:30front and
16:30center,
16:31leading
16:31from the
16:32front.
16:33This
16:33city's
16:34greatest
16:34strength
16:34is what's
16:35behind me.
16:36This
16:37diversity,
16:38everything from
16:39a yarmulke
16:39to a kufi
16:40to a hijab
16:41to a turban
16:42to a headscarf
16:43is all part
16:44of our
16:45diversity
16:45and the
16:46clothing is
16:46representative
16:47of what we
16:47stand for
16:48as a city.
16:49No one
16:50does it
16:50like New
16:51York.
16:52No one.
16:54And so
16:55let me make
16:55clear this.
16:56Why am I
16:57running for
16:57re-election?
16:58Because we
17:00got more
17:00to do.
17:03We got
17:03more to
17:04do.
17:05Can you
17:05imagine our
17:07movement forward
17:08and what this
17:09city is going
17:09to look like?
17:11We laid the
17:12foundations.
17:13Now it's time
17:14to build the
17:15future.
17:16In my second
17:16term, I'm
17:17going to
17:17continue to
17:18bring down
17:18crime.
17:19Launch a
17:20citywide mental
17:21health initiative,
17:22advanced workforce
17:23development and
17:24vocational
17:24education,
17:25expand housing
17:26faster than
17:27ever before to
17:28add on our
17:29great success,
17:30deliver cleaner
17:31streets and
17:32better city
17:32services,
17:34make the city
17:34the greenest
17:35city in
17:35America and
17:37bring New
17:37York's economy
17:38into a new
17:38era of
17:39inclusive growth.
17:41So here's my
17:42closing message
17:42to you,
17:43New York.
17:44Believe in
17:45us.
17:47I believe in
17:47our grit,
17:48our soul,
17:49our resiliency,
17:50and I believe
17:51that our best
17:52days are still
17:53ahead.
17:53Let's build a
17:55city where
17:56every kid can
17:57dream and
17:57every senior
17:58feel safe and
17:59every broken
18:00person can
18:01thrive.
18:02Let's not go
18:03backwards.
18:04Let's move
18:05forward together.
18:07So four more
18:08years mean a
18:08lot.
18:09It gives me the
18:09time to finish
18:10the job.
18:12And this
18:12election is a
18:14real choice.
18:15This election
18:16is a choice
18:18between a
18:19candidate with
18:19a blue collar
18:20and one with a
18:21silver spoon.
18:22A choice
18:24between dirty
18:25fingernails and
18:26manicured nails.
18:27A choice
18:28between someone
18:29who delivered
18:30lower crime,
18:31the most jobs
18:32in history,
18:33and the most
18:33new housing
18:34built in decades,
18:36and an assembly
18:37member who did
18:38not pass a
18:39bill.
18:40None.
18:41It's a choice.
18:43It's a choice
18:44between real
18:45progress and
18:46empty promises.
18:48A future for
18:49broken people,
18:49not a fantasy
18:51state.
18:53This election
18:53is a choice
18:54between those
18:55who believe in
18:56this city and
18:57those who
18:58don't.
18:59Let me tell
18:59you something.
19:01This is a city
19:02not of socialism.
19:03I've been to
19:04socialist countries.
19:06This is a city
19:07where you can
19:07come as a
19:08dishwasher and
19:09you can own
19:09a chain of
19:10restaurants.
19:11This is a city
19:12where you can
19:12be a cab
19:13driver and
19:14then become
19:15a doctor.
19:16This is a city
19:17where you can
19:18go from
19:18homelessness
19:19to building
19:20housing.
19:21This is a city
19:22where you
19:23can be a
19:23young person
19:24who's dyslexic,
19:26a young person
19:26who's rejected,
19:27and eventually
19:28to be elected
19:29to be the
19:30mayor of the
19:30city of New
19:30York.
19:31This is the
19:31type of city
19:32we're in.
19:33This is not
19:34a city where
19:35you use
19:35idealism to
19:36state you're
19:37giving everything
19:38to everyone
19:38for free.
19:39There's no
19:40dignity in
19:40someone giving
19:41you everything
19:42for free.
19:43There's dignity
19:43in giving you
19:44a job so you
19:45can provide
19:46for your
19:46family and
19:47the opportunities
19:48that you
19:48deserve.
19:49So this is
19:50not a city
19:50of handouts.
19:51This is a city
19:52of hands up.
19:53We're going to
19:54lift up the
19:55city of New
19:55York.
19:56And so I'm
19:56asking you
19:57New Yorkers
19:57to continue
19:58to stand
19:59with me
20:00as we move
20:01this city
20:01in the right
20:02direction.
20:03I'm ready
20:03to be your
20:04mayor again
20:05for another
20:06four years.
