00:00For today's Manila Bulletin News Break, at least three or four witnesses that will testify against former President Rodrigo Duterte
00:09before the International Criminal Court in The Hague, Netherlands, are now under the protection of the Department of Justice.
00:18This was revealed today, June 26, as Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulia responded to the ICC request to provide protection to the witnesses while they are still here in the Philippines.
00:30Remulia also said that he thinks there will still be more witnesses to testify against Duterte.
00:38The DOJ has been providing protection for the witnesses since May after the ICC contacted the Department's Witness Protection, Security, and Benefit Program.
00:49However, Remulia clarified that the DOJ will be providing security for the witnesses only in the Philippines.
00:56He added that the ICC will be the one who will transport the witnesses and provide protection once they are in The Hague, Netherlands.
