00:00We're in Atlanta at CDC headquarters for a meeting this week of this Vaccine Advisory
00:05Committee.
00:06This is a group that's been around for more than 60 years.
00:09They advise the government and the public about what vaccines to get and when to get
00:13them.
00:14But things are a little different this meeting.
00:16There's a new U.S. Health Secretary, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who's been considered a leading
00:21voice in the anti-vaccine movement, and he replaced the members of the ACIP Committee.
00:28A roster that includes some people who have been skeptical of vaccines and critical of
00:33COVID-19 vaccines in particular.
00:37This is a potential crossroads in how the public regards vaccines, who it looks to to take advice
00:45on vaccines, what it believes about the safety of vaccines and the protection that they offer.
