Southgate 'not missing' managing England

Gareth Southgate received his knighthood at Windsor Castle on Wednesday and reflected on his England reign.

00:00What's the overwhelming feeling you get from your tenure?

00:05I had an amazing experience to lead your country and to do it for the length of time I did is an amazing privilege.

00:14My overwhelming feeling now is that I'm not missing that either.

00:20We've broke down so many barriers to winning, ultimately we didn't quite get to where we wanted to

00:28but they're in a great position now to take things forward.

00:32How do you assess the current sport in their challenges under Thomas Winkle going into next year's World Cup?

00:37What I learned doing the job is that it's important that people on the outside respect the space inside

00:46and I'm in a position where anything I say is going to cause problems for the people in there

00:51so it's best that I stay out of the way, let them get on with it.

00:55They're a brilliant group of players and staff to work with

00:59and I wouldn't be here without everything they contributed and helped me with

01:04so I hope they can go the next step now.
