U.S. President Donald Trump said missile strikes on Iranian nuclear sites caused "very severe" damage, though he acknowledged that intelligence on the impact remains inconclusive.

His comments contrast with a U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) assessment, which reportedly concluded the strikes would only delay Iran's nuclear programme by a few months.

Speaking ahead of a NATO summit in The Hague, Trump dismissed the report and likened the Israel-Iran conflict to a schoolyard fight.

00:00U.S. President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that missile strikes over the weekend caused
00:07significant damage to Iranian nuclear facilities, although he acknowledged that available intelligence
00:13on the impact remains inconclusive.
00:15Well, the intelligence was very inconclusive.
00:19The intelligence says, we don't know, it could have been very severe.
00:24That's what the intelligence says.
00:26So I guess that's correct.
00:29I think we can take that we don't know. It was very severe. It was obliteration.
00:33His remarks came a day after reports by Reuters, and other outlets revealed that the U.S. Defense
00:39Intelligence Agency, DIA, had assessed the strikes would delay Iran's nuclear program by only a few
00:45months, contradicting claims by some administration officials who insisted the program had been
00:51obliterated. Speaking to reporters before a NATO summit in The Hague, Trump downplayed the DIA's
00:58assessment, stating that the intelligence is inconclusive, but later insisted the impact
01:04was far greater. He likened the conflict between Israel and Iran to a schoolyard brawl.
01:10They're not going to be fighting each other. They've had it. They've had a big fight, like
01:13two kids in a schoolyard. You know, they fight like hell. You can't stop them. Let them fight
01:17for about two, three minutes, then it's easier to stop them.
01:20And then daddy has to sometimes use strong language.
01:23You have to use strong language. Every once in a while you have to use a certain word.
01:26Trump made the comments while seated alongside Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Defense
01:35Secretary Pete Hegseth, both of whom cast doubt on the DIA's findings. Rubio announced that
01:42the U.S. was launching an investigation into the leak of the intelligence report and suggested
01:47the media had misrepresented its conclusions.
01:56According to his department, there was no doubt about the origin of MTA time on the K&E.
