Transcript
00:00I bet people can't wait to read my memoirs.
00:04A million little fibers.
00:08Welcome to WatchMojo, where we'll be ranking our favorite retired and older South Park characters who you've probably forgotten about.
00:16You boys just make sure to obey the scout leader now. He's the man in charge.
00:20Hello, scouts!
00:22Hey, it's Big A.L.
00:24Number 10, Pip Perip.
00:26Pip, where have you been?
00:27A lovely day, isn't it?
00:30What the hell's lovely about it?
00:31In the early seasons, Pip was a major character, albeit controversial.
00:36His solo episode, Pip, from season 4, became one of the most hated.
00:40It's a retelling of Great Expectations featuring no major South Park players except Pip.
00:46Well, I was sent to be schooled in London.
00:48I see, and you no longer live with the blacksmith?
00:51Oh, I see Joe once in a while, but I don't have much in common with him anymore, now that I'm a gentleman and all.
00:56The character was written to be annoying, which is reflected in how intensely the others mistreat him.
01:02Pip was basically the original Butters, but with much less endearing traits.
01:07Bucket, get over there and do whatever it takes to keep those blugs from crying.
01:10Right, okay.
01:11It's been way more than 10 years since his comical death in episode 201.
01:16I would like to see if you wouldn't mind not smashing our little town to bits.
01:22Now, though, it's challenging not to feel nostalgic for the little British boy.
01:26He deserved better.
01:28Number 9, Margaret Nelson.
01:30Mrs. Nelson, I couldn't figure out number 14.
01:32Number 14.
01:33Okay, well, let's look at it together.
01:38For years, the pupils struggled with Garrison's less than adequate teaching style.
01:43After Garrison ran for president, Mrs. Nelson was his replacement.
01:47It was a blessing for the students since she was competent at her job, a rarity in South Park.
01:53Unfortunately, she wasn't around for that long.
01:56No, I knew this was a prank.
01:58You're not tricking me into going anywhere.
02:01Like her much earlier predecessor, Ms. Chokes on Dick, Ms. Nelson suffered an untimely death.
02:07In this case, COVID was the cause.
02:10Excuse me.
02:16This happened in 2021, not long after Donald Trump lost his presidency.
02:22It's no coincidence, she died so they could bring back fan-favorite Garrison.
02:27And so it's time for adults to screw these masks and party like it's coming to everyone!
02:33Down by the lazy room!
02:36Number 8, Dr. Alphonse Mephesto.
02:39We want to cross-bead an elephant with a pig.
02:42Brilliant idea.
02:43Huge elephant-sized pigs.
02:45Season 1 ended with one of the show's most famous cliffhangers, focusing on the identity
02:51of Cartman's missing father.
02:53Who is Eric Cartman's father?
02:55Is it Chief Running Water?
02:57Or is it Chef?
02:59Is it Mephesto?
03:00Or that little monkey guy that follows him around?
03:02One of its central characters was mad scientist Dr. Alphonse Mephesto,
03:07who loves to genetically engineer animals similar to Dr. Moreau.
03:11This usually involves giving them more buttocks.
03:14But his skills were also used to discover Cartman's dad's identity.
03:19Alright, alright, look.
03:20Just tell Cartman who his dad is real quick so we can clone Muhammad.
03:23It's a complicated story.
03:24I just can't tell him quickly.
03:26He stuck around as a prominent side character until season 4.
03:30Then he started to fade into obscurity.
03:32Now Mephesto is simply a background character whose zany antics are left to the imagination.
03:39Well, I'm sorry children, but pig and elephant DNA just won't splice.
03:44Haven't you ever heard that song by Loverboy?
03:46Which song is that?
03:51Number 7.
03:53Veronica Crabtree
03:54Kids!
03:55Do not get off this bus!
03:57If you do a big scary monster, we'll eat you!
04:00Introduced in the first episode, Veronica Crabtree became a hilarious side character.
04:05She drove the boys to school every morning, a favor they'd repay by regularly insulting her.
04:12Thankfully for them, her hearing was so poor that they always got away with it.
04:17This made her a regular character in the early seasons, but as time went on, she became less
04:22prominent.
04:23One of her most notable episodes was City on the Edge of Forever flashbacks, where she comically
04:30nearly drove the school bus off a cliff.
04:32Sit down and shut up!
04:34I'm staying quiet!
04:37Eventually in season 8, she was murdered by serial killer Michael Dietz and hasn't returned
04:43since.
04:44Her name is Veronica Crabtree, bus driver for the elementary school.
04:48She was considered an ancillary character, one the fans wouldn't miss much.
04:52Number 6.
04:53Diane chokes on Dick!
04:54Well, well, well, I'd say somebody has some explaining to do!
04:58Since season 4 in 2000, the main characters have been in the 4th grade, making it one of
05:03the longest school years in history.
05:13Initially, they were taught by Diane chokes on Dick, taking over from Garrison.
05:18While she was a better teacher, she could barely control the children.
05:22This prompts her to climb the mountain Garrison has escaped to, where she learns disciplined
05:27secrets.
05:28Ultimately, she'd only last a few years, getting killed off in season 6.
05:45It's never confirmed how she died, but her surname is a strong hint.
05:51Number 5.
05:56Principal Victoria.
05:58Well, Timmy, I just don't know what to do with you.
06:00You're getting very poor marks in school and the teachers are complaining that you aren't
06:03paying attention!
06:05Ehhh!
06:06Before the introduction of the divisive character PC Principal, the school was run by Principal
06:11Victoria.
06:12She had the job for at least 18 seasons before getting replaced.
06:16Throughout most of this time, she was among the only capable faculty members at South Park Elementary.
06:22Wendy, I've been hearing rumors about a fight between you and Eric Cartman.
06:26No ma'am, there isn't going to be a fight.
06:29Oh no?
06:30Are you sure?
06:31Yes ma'am.
06:33The reason she's fired is only vaguely explained, but it's clear they wanted to bring in PC
06:39Principal.
06:40Since season 19, she's not had a single speaking role, meaning she's almost entirely retired.
06:46It's a shame for a lot of longtime fans, especially the ones not fond of PC Principal.
06:52But on the other hand, it reflects the inevitability of change in life.
06:57You sure this will work, Eric?
06:58What if some of the students don't eat the pizza?
07:00It doesn't matter.
07:01Enough students will crap their pants to make everyone forget about Pete Melman and Jenny
07:05Simons forever.
07:06Number 4.
07:07Satan.
07:08Puny son of Jehovah, prepare to enter thy house of pain.
07:13In the early seasons, Satan occurred frequently, usually to wreak havoc on South Park.
07:19Satan first appeared in the season 1 episode, Damien, where he almost beats Jesus before taking
07:25a dive.
07:26Hilariously, he's in a toxic relationship with former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein.
07:40Satan and Hussein then become major antagonists of the 1999 movie, until Kenny convinces Satan
07:46to ditch his toxic tyrant boyfriend.
07:48You're right.
07:49I should leave him.
07:50I'm just gonna tell him, Saddam, I'm going to Earth to rule alone.
07:54I'm strong, and I don't need him.
07:56That's true!
07:57As the show progressed, his prominence declined.
08:00His arc concluded in season 22, where he tried helping the boys stop Man-Bear Pig.
08:06In the end, the Lord of Hell was fatally wounded by the monster, which caused his soul to ironically
08:12ascend to heaven.
08:13Number 3.
08:20Officer Barbrady
08:21It's a hard job, but then again, I'm a hard man.
08:24For a long time, Officer Barbrady was the entire South Park Police Department.
08:29The series never shied away from joking about how incompetent an officer he is.
08:34All right, all right, I can't read!
08:37It was frequently the source of conflict in episodes, like in Chicken Lover, where he has
08:42to learn to read to save the town.
08:44Well, anyway, I don't want to give away the ending, but I will say that it spirals toward
08:49an incredible twist turn that parallels my own life.
08:53Thank you, Officer Barbrady.
08:54That was a very good book report indeed.
08:56In season 7, the Park County Police Force was introduced, and Barbrady started to fade
09:02into the background.
09:03He made a comeback in season 19, only to get fired.
09:07Somehow, he manages to get his job back the same season.
09:11Since then, he's only had brief cameos, but hasn't spoke a line in years.
09:16Oh, you've got it all wrong, my little friend!
09:19You do it like this!
09:21You gotta get him in the head!
09:23They go down quicker!
09:25Number 2, Mr. Hankey.
09:27Howdy ho!
09:29If you eat a lot of fiber on Christmas Eve, you might get lucky and spot the magical Christmas
09:33deity, Mr. Hankey.
09:35Since season 1, he lived in the sewers of South Park, but would come out once a year to
09:39spread Christmas cheer.
09:40That sure was swell!
09:41I'd say my Christmas special is going super fantastic!
09:48Hilariously, only Kyle and Chef could see him initially, but when residents begin to
09:53believe, he appears in front of everyone.
09:55As time went on, he went seasons without appearing until season 22, where he was banished to Springfield
10:02from The Simpsons.
10:03Come on, gang!
10:04Don't fight!
10:05You people have focused so hard on the things wrong with Christmas that you've forgotten
10:10what's so right about it!
10:13Fascinatingly, he was originally meant to be the show's main character.
10:17While we all like him, we have to admit that it'd be a… much worse series.
10:22Bye, everybody!
10:24Bye, Mr. Hankey!
10:29Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions.
10:33Jesus
10:34The Son of God rarely appears in newer seasons, but he should rise again.
10:39You all seem to have forgotten a lot of things.
10:41Jesus, you did answer my prayer!
10:43Actually, I was answering the prayer of Nick Donovan.
10:45Oh, that's me!
10:47Neato!
10:48Scott Malkinson
10:49Malkinson deserves more respect.
10:51But she has diabetes.
10:52You guys always rip on me for having diabetes.
10:55You guys always rip on me for having diabetes.
10:57I'm Scott Malkinson.
10:59Terrence and Phillip.
11:00When is Asses of Fire 2 coming out already?
11:03Terrence, if I die whilst in Iran, please bring my body back to Canada and bury me in
11:08a box with a side of Kraft dinner.
11:09Sam here, Phillip!

11:24Number 1.
11:25Towelie
11:26That's why Towelie says, don't forget to bring a towel.
11:31Okay.
11:32Thanks, Towelie.
11:33You wanna get high?
11:34One of the many iconic episodes from Season 5 was Towelie, which introduced its titular
11:43character, as his name suggests.
11:45He's a talking towel, but don't say that to him or he'll retaliate.
11:49Everything okay here?
11:50Fine, except this towel has been mixing Changsauce for 15 minutes.
11:55He's clueless.
11:56Don't call me shoeless.
11:58You're shoeless.
11:59Yeah, well, you're a towel.
12:00You're a towel.
12:01Alright, that's it.
12:02Get out of here.
12:03You're fired.
12:04Since then, he's been the focus of a few episodes, like A Million Little Fibers,
12:09where he's the primary character.
12:11He appeared again in Season 14, but then vanished until Randy opened up Tegrity Farms.
12:16No!
12:17I'm not high!
12:18I haven't been high since Wednesday!
12:21Oh, oh, it is Wednesday?
12:23Given their primary product, it makes sense that Towelie immediately signed up to help.
12:29So, while he still appears occasionally, it's been years since the last Towelie episode,
12:35all of which are side-splittingly funny.
12:37Then we have no choice.
12:39We'll have to test the new prototype a little early.
12:50Don't forget to bring a towel.
12:52Who is your favorite retired South Park character?
12:55Is it the iconic chef or the lesser-known Lemmy Winks?
12:59Let us know in the comments below.
13:01The whole world's gone to hell, but how are you?
13:04I'm super!
13:06Thanks for asking!
13:08The End
