Three years ago, the Dobbs decision stripped away a fundamental right — leaving this generation of women with fewer freedoms than their mothers.
Ahead of today’s anniversary, I surprised the Free and Just Storyteller Summit to thank the 100+ advocates they brought to Washington, DC for training and community building. They are leading with courage and optimism, and I am proud to stand by them as we continue the fight for reproductive freedom. (25.06.25)

00:00So I'm hearing there is a special surprise guest Zooming in live who would also like to celebrate you.
00:08She's been a champion for reproductive freedom and a joyful warrior in this fight.
00:16And I know she wants to say hello.
00:19Hello.
00:20Hi. Oh, oh, my goodness. Hi, everyone.
00:33Thank you. Thank you. Thank you for your friendship and to everyone there.
00:39Oh, I'm just so glad everyone is under one roof together.
00:42I think that the work that you are each doing is so important. It's so courageous.
00:48You're doing work that is going to benefit so many people that for the most part you won't meet people who may never know your names.
00:56But because of your work and your courage and your leadership, their lives will forever be uplifted.
01:03And since the Dobbs decision came down, of course, 22 states have banned or significantly restricted abortion.
01:10And at least five women have died. And those are the ones we know about as a result of those bans.
01:16So, look, I'm telling you what everybody here knows.
01:20These bans, these executive actions and funding cuts have intentionally created a health care crisis.
01:26But we know that the leaders in this room are not going to stand for this.
01:30I know these are difficult times.
01:32And it requires a whole lot of courage and it requires a level of optimism to remember that we're fighting for something, not against something.
01:44And in that way, we are doing good and important work that is about upholding fundamental rights, such as the freedom of an individual to make decisions about her own body and not have her government tell her what to do.
02:01So, again, I thank you all and just have the joy that comes with the fight, knowing that we're all in this together.
02:09And I'll see you guys soon, I hope.
02:12Take care.
02:12Thank you.
02:13Grazie.
