GB News presenter Charlie Peters has spoken to reporters on the way into the prestigious Tric Awards after = been nominated for best News Presenter. Speaking to GB News on his way into the event, the reporter said: "I am very nervous, but very excited. It's a great day for GB News, always here at the Tric Awards. "These awards are special. They're like no other because of course the people vote for them. Of all the big industry awards, this is the one that we love the most, in part because we win them quite a lot. We're very good at that, but also because our audience, it's an opportunity for them to share their appreciation for our work, and we love it for that reason." WATCH THE CLIP ABOVE FOR MORE
00:00About the mood on the red carpet and GB News got a good sniff of winning today.
00:07They have indeed. Hello Martin. Yes, I'm live from Grosvenor House in London where GB News is not up for one but two Trick Awards.
00:15Best News Show and Best News Presenter. Speaking of which, I'm joined by one of the nominees now, Mr Charlie Peters and some of the GB News family.
00:23Charlie, seems fitting to start with you. How are you feeling?
00:25Oh, very nervous but very excited. It's a great day for GB News always here at the Trick Awards.
00:30These awards are special. They're like no other, Alex, because of course the people vote for them.
00:35You know, the big industry awards, this is the one that we love the most.
00:38In part because we win them quite a lot. We're very good at that.
00:41But also because our audience, it's an opportunity for them to share their appreciation for our work and we love it for that reason.
00:47Absolutely. And you know, we're no strangers to our critics.
00:50What does it say to them when we get nominated for awards like this and not only that, we win them?
00:54Well, it shows that we are the people's channel, doesn't it? Right?
00:58That this channel has the backing of people right across the country and yeah, it gives us an enormous pleasure to come here and see all that appreciation
01:04and have a day where we can sort of lap that up for once actually and make the most of it.
01:09Absolutely. And Ben and Bev, if I can bring you guys in, because I know Charlie's far too humble.
01:14How proud are you of Charlie for getting this nomination today?
01:17Oh, we've relentlessly taken the mickey out of him. We will keep his feet on the ground. Don't worry about that.
01:21Did you see his ego in the taxi? Oh, yeah. No, joking, joking.
01:25Yeah. No, honestly, it's the work that Charlie's done is so important and so brilliant and he's been so driven and it's so good for the channel as a whole.
01:34Not just not just for Charlie, who we love dearly, but it's just good for GB News.
01:38And we know how much, you know, our viewers love what we do. We know how much they love what Charlie does.
01:42Absolutely. And GB News Breakfast as well is up for an award as well.
01:45It's got some stiff competition, but do you think we can do it again?
01:48I think we can do it. The breakfast show is pretty unique. We've got some great stars on there.
01:52Eamon, Eddie, Stephen, you know, Anne and so on. I cover a couple of times. I love covering breakfast.
01:57But yeah, I think we've won it the last two years.
01:58Yeah, we've won the last two. A certain Mr. Farage has won News Presenter the last two years as well.
02:03So no pressure, Mr. Peters.
02:06They say he might be the next Prime Minister. So clearly it's a good gig to win, that Strict Award.
02:11Who knows what you might go on to next, right?
02:13Why not? Next Prime Minister or Strictly. We'll see whichever one comes up.
