More than 25% of people don’t think $100,000 is enough

00:00How much would you need to make to feel financially secure?
00:03Well, almost half of Americans would like a six-figure salary.
00:07According to a new survey from Bankrate, 45% of people think they would need to make $100,000
00:13a year to feel financially secure or comfortable.
00:17That includes 16% of people who say they would need to make $200,000 or more, and 8% who
00:23say they would need to make $500,000 or more.
00:26How does that stack up to what they're actually making?
00:28The average full-time year-round worker made $81,500 in 2023, according to the latest estimates
00:35from the BLS.
00:37Financial comfort clearly means something different to everyone.
00:39But one thing people can agree on is that the majority of U.S. adults, 56%, say they need
00:45to make more than they're currently earning to feel financially secure.
00:49As for what would make them feel rich?
00:51More than one in four Americans say they would need to make at least $1 million per year to
00:57feel financially free.
