01:00Brilliant. It's a great ceremonial. Great ceremonial.
01:03But when it comes to military parades, I don't know whether you like this sort of stuff,
01:07the Fairford Air Show.
01:08Everybody brings their big, bad planes and flies them around and make a hell of a lot of noise.
01:13Do you like a nice military parade?
01:15Well, with you, I like an air show.
01:17So South End used to have an air show every year.
01:19And I've been lucky enough to go and meet some of the Red Arrows.
01:22And whenever the Red Arrows are involved, I mean, it's something special, isn't it?
01:25Especially when you consider it's kind of 1970s aircraft that they're flying so close to each other.
01:31And they do a lot of really good stuff, actually, with STEM, with teaching science, technology, engineering and maths
01:36and using the next generation into that direction.
01:38But, yeah, they are some brave guys, aren't they?
01:41Fantastic.
01:42Yeah.
01:42Amazing.
01:42Very impressive.
01:44Not as amazing as Mick Purdy, who's now got three wins tucked under his belt.
01:49Well done.
01:50Golf caddy master from Scarborough.
01:51You had a bit of a close shave yesterday.
01:53You feeling relaxed now?
01:55Yep.
01:56A good man of many words.
01:59And you're joined by Darren Finley, who is from Finley Green in Surrey, a meeting services technical lead.
02:06Now, just explain that to us in a few words.
02:09It's a long title.
02:10It's mainly the technical support within rooms themselves.
02:13So if people have a problem in a meeting room, they will call our guys and we will go and support them.
02:19OK.
02:20Excellent.
02:20Well, good luck to you today.
02:22Thank you very much.
02:22And let's have a big round of applause then for Darren and Mick.
02:26And over in Dictionary Corner, joining Susie, of course, is newscaster and journalist Nina Hussain.
02:36Welcome back, Nina.

04:03Um, you are spelling it the American way, I think.
04:10How are you spelling it?
04:11D-I-A-L-O-G-E-S.
04:13G-E-S.
04:14Oh, OK.
04:15Um, you definitely need the U for the British spelling, and for the American spelling,
04:19it's just a G at the end.
04:21Sorry about that, Mick.
04:22Bad luck.
04:23Bad luck.
04:23Early lead for Darren there, but over in the corner.
04:26No.
04:26Thankfully, I'm not on my own in the corner, but we did get an eight.
04:31Isolated.
04:32Isolated.
04:33Well done.

06:04Mastid.
06:04A free Mastid schooner?
06:06Mastid is fine.
06:08Unfortunately, I think Mastid are going to be E-Y-S.
06:11Um, sorry, it was a very roundabout way of saying you can actually spell it M-A-T-Y,
06:17not just M-A-T-E-Y, which means you can put the I-E-S on, so it's absolutely fine.
06:21Well done.
06:21Well done.
06:22One point ahead for Darren.
06:24And Nina, Nina, what have we got?
06:27We managed an eight, actually, atomised.

06:33And the Ossizio?
06:35No, just the diatoms that come up from time to time, the single-celled organisms,
06:39but atomised was definitely our best.
06:40Atomised perfect, I think.

12:18I'm sorry.
12:20What can we have, I wonder?
12:22Nina?
12:22We're going to stick with a six, as we got weapon and also opiate for a six as well.

13:48Well if you say 50 divided by 5 is 10. Add 3, 4, 13. Take that 13 off the 100 for 87. And then 8 minus 1 is 7 and times them together.
14:03That's wonderful.
14:09And now we turn to Nina. And Nina those big news stories they just keep rolling in.
14:15And there have been some big ones since you were here last year.
14:19Yeah. I mean I've been a journalist for 22 years. And last year I have seen absolutely nothing like it.
14:26It was relentless. We covered some of the darkest stories that I hope to never have to cover ever again to be honest.
14:34It started of course with the Westminster attack in March in London with the death of PC Palmer and the innocent people on the bridge that day.
14:45Then we had this hideous moment of realisation that something had happened at a pop concert in Manchester.
14:55You know the bomb and 22 victims there.
14:58After that London was attacked yet again.
15:02And only a few days after the attack on the capital we saw the burning building of Grenfell Tower.
15:10I mean we just we couldn't believe what we were reporting on.
15:14I think there was a moment towards the end of the year when the story of the day really the talking point of the day when one Prue Leith you know very famous face and certainly on Channel 4 nowadays had accidentally revealed the winner of the Bake Off final just hours before that was that was shown.
15:33I know it's a program close to your heart as well Nick now and it was just this moment of thinking do you know what if if the biggest story of the day in Britain today is a mistake made on a television program do you know what we'll we'll take that for this day we'll we'll take the fact that we're away from from the darkness for a moment.
15:55Well thanks for that Nina and of course you know thanks also for giving us those stories so clearly because you might your head must be banging with all the stuff coming in and yet you've got to talk through it and deliver it so it's a it's a great job you do.
16:09Thank you big round of applause for Nina.
16:13And over to my right we have Nick McPurdy your letters came.

21:33And the clue, there are no praises connected with this answer.
21:37In fact, it's quite the opposite.
21:38There are no praises connected with this answer.
21:41In fact, it's quite the opposite.
21:43And the answer to that one is aspersion.

25:13Well, Mick?
25:18A seven.
25:19A seven. And Darren?
25:21Seven.
25:22Mick?
25:23Suction.
25:24And?
25:25Same word, suction.
25:26There we go. Show that to Mick.
25:30So, 65 to 33 as we turn to Susie.
25:34Now, Susie, what have you for us today?
25:37Well, as you know, Nick, and as regular viewers will know,
25:40I love those words that wear their heart on their sleeve,
25:43but we just don't see it somehow.
25:45So, they're sort of almost too obvious, if you like.
25:48So, freelancers were knights who used their lances as sort of mercenaries,
25:52so wherever they pleased.
25:54Heathens lived on the heath.
25:56Secretaries kept secrets.
25:58Those are amongst my favourites.
25:59But there's another one that didn't really occur to me until quite recently,
26:02and that's the lovely verb to roam.
26:04So, if you're roaming, you wander aimlessly,
26:08but with pleasure, normally, if you're a roamer.
26:11And, believe it or not, it actually comes back to the city of Rome.
26:15Different spelling.
26:16But it referred originally to, we think, we're pretty sure about this,
26:19to the roundabout course that was taken by English pilgrims in the Middle Ages.
26:24I say we're pretty sure about it because there's not definitive proof,
26:27but it is very much our best guess.
26:30So, they used to travel, as I say, roam the world until they got to Rome.
26:35So, it was testament, really, to the seduction of the city.
26:39And the reason that we are fairly sure about this is that other languages in other countries
26:44have very similar words.
26:46So, pilgrimages were made to Rome from many other countries.
26:49So, in France, Romier was a pilgrim on his way, or her way, indeed, to Rome.
26:55And in Spain, a romero became a word, similarly, someone on their way to Rome,
27:00but also a wanderer.
27:01And in Italy, of course, famously, we have a Romeo,
27:04and the real meaning of Romeo is a wayfarer, if you like, or a wanderer.
27:09So, it's quite likely that the famous city of Rome gave us all of those words.
27:14But I love the idea that when we roam and wander,
27:16we're actually looking to the city of Rome.
27:18Oh, very good.
27:19So, Darren on 65, Mick on 33.
27:27Darren, you're doing pretty well, Darren.

29:01And there is an eight there as well.
29:03Unviable.
29:05If something is not doable, it's unviable.

31:03And this last selection is five, five, eight, six, one hundred and seventy-five.
