Transcript
00:00Good morning, my name is Phil Hewitt, group arts editor with Sussex Newspapers. Now lovely
00:06thought we're getting a bit of Fleetwood Mac tribute to Fleetwood Mac coming up in Worthing
00:11before too long. And it comes from newish been going about 18 months or so in the current format
00:17newish Fleetwood Mac tribute band our own way. Lovely to speak to Kevin Potter who deals with
00:23well lots of the admin and just looks after the band. So where are you playing?
00:31Well good afternoon Phil, great to be on your show. We are playing on the 12th of July and we're
00:38playing at the Worthing, the venue in Worthing which for anyone who's never been there please do even
00:45if it's not to see us perform. It's run by a wonderful lad called Howie who has been in the
00:53industry for pretty well his whole life and he's worked with all the big names, he's worked with
00:58Genesis, he's worked with... And it's a place you've played before, haven't you?
01:02We played there last year, it was one of our first gigs and we're really grateful to Howie for give us
01:07that step up and he runs a very professional show there so we're very looking forward to,
01:13very much looking forward to playing. And last year as you were saying you got to the current format in
01:18January of last year and last year was a bit quiet with just 10 gigs or so, much much more busy this
01:24year with 30 gigs, that's looking good, things are picking up for the band then aren't they?
01:29Yes it is, yes, kind of like the venues we were looking to perform at they tend to book up
01:36anything up to a year in advance so obviously last year was always going to be very slow
01:40trying to get gigs because a lot of the venues we were looking at had already booked up, were booked
01:47up for the year and many of them had Fleetwood Mac tributes already and so it was a slow year. This
01:53year we're looking at 30 gigs, we've got a lovely mix of festivals, obviously summertime there's always
02:00the tribute festivals, smaller theatres, clubs, we're looking forward to playing Scotney Castle actually,
02:09National Trust Castle which is just so for Tunbridge Wells in the summer, they do summer evening music.
02:18But tell me why Fleetwood Mac, what's the pleasure?
02:24Just love the music Phil, we all do, we're all big fans and
02:27um I think the great thing about this band and you know when I've looked at many Fleetwood Mac tributes
02:34and they're all amazing bands, very you know technically the musicianship is really good,
02:40we're very blessed to have three people whose vocals really work with regards to harmonies
02:45and let's be honest Fleetwood Mac that's what they're all about, it's the vocals and the harmonies
02:51and the tone of their voices works so well and um for us if anyone was to look at our um show reel
02:58on YouTube they would just they're you know I wouldn't need to sell it myself, they'd see for
03:03themselves how good the vocals are and um and I think because of our love for the band and um that helps
03:10because that helps with your passion and your input into what we're trying to achieve.
03:14Fantastic, well it sounds brilliant, have a really happy return to Worthing, lovely to speak to you Kevin,
03:21thank you very much. And you Phil, thank you very much for your time, cheers, thank you.
