Acclaimed pop balladeer RJ dela Fuente and 'Mr. Pure Energy' Gary Valenciano are set to release the music video for their new single 'Blessings,' which serves as a reinterpretation of Laura Story’s beloved 2011 hit. In an intimate interview with the media, the two generations of Christian music artists share how the release marks a meaningful moment for them as it doubles as a creative collaboration built on faith, mentorship, and artistry, as well as a quiet but moving showcase of spiritual and emotional depth.

00:00The song, Blessings, was written by a female by the name of Laura Story, and the first time I heard it, I'll never forget, I was along, because I used to drive out on my own, and every Monday was my day, so I would go all the way to Tagaytay to have Lake Mariana, so I went, and then when I go out for those moments, it's just me on my own, you know, I think, I write music, I text friends I haven't
00:29I text it in a while, I pray, and all that, and on the way home, I randomly lie, I said, what's up with the latest inspirational music, that was the song I heard, and I had to pull over, because my tears just started to flow, and not many songs really do that with me, but that did, so I pulled over, and I said, wow, and then I started making other people here,
00:59and the same reaction, I said, her name is Laura Story, that's her story, no, her name is Laura Story, and that's it, Blessings, so I remember performing it once, in 2018, 2019, it was right after my whole ordeal,
01:23and I did a show, and I did a show, and I did a show, and I did that song, as a soloist, but I like it the way it is now, it's a duet between two guys, exactly, this is how I would have really wanted to do it.
01:42What's the message of the song that really resonated with me?
01:47Because, when you talk about blessings, it always usually brings a smile to people's faces, how's your son?
01:56Oh, he's such a blessing, how are your studies?
01:59Oh, you know, Sir Gary, I was so blessed, how is work?
02:02You know, Sir, I was blessed, you know, I have a wonderful boss, I have wonderful people, I have wonderful friends,
02:07but then there's also the blessings that don't come that way, where it could be through a loss, or through a breaking moment,
02:21even through a, even through rejection, you know, that you only get to see the blessing behind it later on.
02:29Blessings in disguise.
02:30Blessings, that's it, that's really what it is, it's blessings in disguise, what might seem to be,
02:37really bad, may actually be a blessing in disguise.
02:41What a question.
02:43I mean, the psalm just talks about, like, sometimes, we can't explain things in life, so much, like chaos,
02:53or so many problems that happen, but then, in the midst of all that craziness,
02:59God can still bless us in a different way than what we expected.
03:03And so, for me, blessings, I mean, you know, maybe just, whatever God has for us in His plan,
03:14I feel like, the blessing, whatever He gives us.
03:18Well, blessings, it's been a song that's very special to us ever since.
03:23I heard it back in the States, long time ago, years ago, and then Tito Gary, he has his story with the song also.
03:30He shared that, like, he was driving one night from Tagaytay, and he heard it on the radio, and he pulled over, he started crying.
03:39And so, yeah, it's a very, very special song to both of us.
03:41I've always wanted to do a version of it.
03:45I think also, and he's also wanted to do a version.
03:49And, yeah, the timing just was perfect.
03:52And, yeah, super blessing that we get to do this together.
03:57And, yeah, super blessing that we get to do this together.
