New Hedges has unveiled its new accessible play park, with the village’s county councillor calling it an ‘incredible asset’ for the area, encouraging the communuty to ‘enjoy and treasure’ it.
Sharing a video of the new look facility for the ward of St Mary Out Liberty on social media, Cllr Rhys Jordan said: “A heartfelt thank you, New Hedges - today, I’m incredibly proud to share this video of our brand new accessible park — a beautiful, inclusive space where people of all abilities can play, laugh, and grow together.
“This hasn’t happened by chance. It’s the result of countless hours of hard work from volunteers who poured their time, energy, and soul into making this dream a reality. And just as importantly — it’s thanks to you, the residents of New Hedges, who showed up time and time again to support every fundraiser, no matter how big or small.
“This park stands as a testament to what we can achieve when we come together as a community.
“It’s more than a park — it’s a symbol of inclusion, kindness, and the power of people who care. What an incredible asset to our area.
“Enjoy it, treasure it, and thank you from me and all who will make many memories here.”
New Hedges Village Hall Committee are now inviting the community to an official ‘Accessible Play Park’ opening celebration on July 19, from 11am to 3pm.
The day will feature guest appearances by Peppa Pig and Bluey; a circus workshop, and balloon modelling.
“Pack a picnic and come and celebrate with us!” said the Committee.
All play and exercise equipment is used at own risk; and children must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times. Excerise equipment is suitable from 14yrs+, whilst the accessible swing requires a Radar Key.
