00:27shabby little house on the sea, Harry had experienced the most magical night of his life.
00:33The next morning, he lay in bed as long as he could, reluctant to open his eyes,
00:38almost afraid that it had all been a dream. In that dream, a massive owl had delivered his
00:43acceptance letter to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Then a giant named Hagrid arrived,
00:50told him he was a wizard, and even used magic to punish Dudley, his bully of a cousin.
00:54He worried that if he woke up, he'd find himself back in the tiny cupboard under the stairs at
01:00home. If he could, he'd stay in this dream forever. But then Hagrid's voice broke through.
01:08Up and at, em, Harry. Now's not the time for sleeping in. Harry rubbed his eyes,
01:14watching as Hagrid opened the window and released an owl that had just delivered a newspaper,
01:18which Hagrid bought for five nuts. What's that? Harry asked curiously.
01:25The Daily Prophet, our wizarding newspaper, Hagrid explained as he stretched.
01:31Wizards read it to stay informed. He added, we'd better get going, Harry. We've got a full day ahead.
01:39Off to London to get your school supplies, and pick out two birthday presents.
01:43Birthday presents? Harry asked, surprised. One for you and one for Kyle. Hagrid grinned.
01:54Strange coincidence, his birthday's today too. A birthday present? Harry's heart leapt with
02:01excitement. But then he remembered the name Hagrid had mentioned and asked, who's Kyle?
02:06He's another young wizard at Hogwarts, one year ahead of you, Hagrid replied, already pulling on
02:12his boots. A good kid. Kind-hearted, friendly to everyone, and the professors and students all like
02:20him. Hagrid continued as they left the hut, making their way to the outer reef. He's sharp too. The only
02:28student in 300 years to get a special award for services to the school in his first year.
02:32If all goes well, he'll likely be the youngest recipient of the Order of Merlin.
02:38Harry blinked, taking in all these impressive-sounding titles. Though he didn't recognize
02:44any of them, he could tell from Hagrid's tone that they meant Kyle had accomplished some incredible
02:49things. If you ever need help or run into trouble at Hogwarts, you can go to him, Hagrid added.
02:55He'll look out for you. As they walked, Harry muttered the name to himself, Kyle. Imagining
03:03what this other young wizard might be like. Not knowing any wizards, he naturally envisioned
03:08something from TV and mashed it together with Hagrid's appearance. In his mind's eye, Kyle
03:14was a serious-looking boy wearing a tall, pointed hat and a deep black, or maybe blue or red, cloak,
03:20cloak, clutching a thick wooden staff with a jeweled tip. And maybe he even had a dead ferret
03:26looped around his waist as some strange magical token. Achoo! Kyle, seated at breakfast in St.
03:33Catchpole Village, sneezed suddenly. Dear, are you getting a cold? Chris asked, looking concerned.
03:40No, I just felt an itch in my nose, Kyle replied, rubbing his nose. He figured it must have been
03:48from all the owls he'd come into contact with recently. He had no idea who'd spread the word
03:54about his birthday, but as soon as daylight broke, a steady stream of owls began flying
03:59into his room, each carrying beautifully wrapped gifts. The deliveries nearly filled half his
04:04room with brightly colored boxes and ribbons. Just as Kyle was mulling this over, another
04:10owl swooped in through the open window, placing a large box on the table beside him.
04:15It seems you're quite popular at school, Diana said with a smile. Receiving so many gifts.
04:23Mom, have you forgotten which house I'm in? Kyle asked, reaching for a piece of bread.
04:29Hufflepuffs are known for their connections. Naturally, I have plenty of friends. Diana chuckled,
04:36saying nothing more. Kyle glanced at the newest package, which he recognized as coming from Lee
04:42Jordan. Judging by its shape, it was likely another cake. This seemed to be the most popular
04:48gift he'd received, there were already over a dozen cakes stacked in his room upstairs.
04:54Barring any unexpected surprises, these cakes would be his main source of food for the next few days,
05:00and he knew the Weasley kids would likely be sharing in them, especially Ginny, who would be thrilled.
05:05With a wry smile, Kyle shook his head and took another bite of sausage.
05:11After breakfast, Chris called Kyle aside.
05:14We've given some thought to what you asked us yesterday, he began.
05:18Kyle's eyes lit up with anticipation.
05:21You're going to teach me?
05:23Of course, Chris replied, nodding.
05:26We have no reason to object.
05:28But, could you tell us why you're so determined to learn a clemency?
05:33It's no easy skill, after all.
05:36Even many adult wizards struggle with it, so for a young wizard like you, this is quite ambitious.
05:43Kyle hesitated briefly before answering, because of Orin.
05:47Back in the Forbidden Forest, I had the feeling he could read my thoughts.
05:51It felt, invasive, and I don't want to experience that again.
05:56Though Orin was a convenient excuse, Kyle's reasons went far beyond him.
06:02A clemency was the only known magic that could guard against external mental infiltration,
06:06an essential skill if he wanted to delve into the mystery of Horcruxes.
06:10He knew he would inevitably need to interact with enchanted objects like the diary and the diadem,
06:15both of which could pose serious risks without a clemency to shield his mind.
06:21With Voldemort's proficiency in soul magic,
06:24Kyle knew he would be dangerously exposed if he handled those Horcruxes unprotected.
06:29Kyle had attempted to teach himself a clemency last year,
06:32but, as Chris had pointed out, it was notoriously challenging.
06:36Trying to learn without guidance had been painstakingly slow,
06:40after half a year, he barely managed to reach the beginner's level.
06:43At this stage, he knew his skills were nowhere near strong enough
06:47to contend with the mental intrusion of a Horcrux.
06:51Orin.
06:52Chris repeated, grimacing at the name.
06:55For over a month, he had pondered the connection
06:58but could recall nothing apart from that rescue mission ten years ago
07:01that might link him to Orin.
07:03After a sigh, Chris said,
07:05If you're truly certain, we can make arrangements for your training.
07:09I'm certain, Kyle affirmed eagerly.
07:11When do we start?
07:14After work?
07:16Chris shook his head, a mysterious smile forming.
07:20No, you won't be learning from us.
07:23For a clemency, we've actually found the ideal teacher,
07:26and he's agreed to instruct you.
07:28A teacher.
07:30Channel dream novel.
07:32Chapter 127, My teacher is not human.
07:36Kyle frowned slightly.
07:37To be honest, he wasn't exactly thrilled about someone else teaching him a branch of magic
07:42as personal as a clemency, especially if it involved exploring his mind and memories.
07:48He wouldn't want even Dumbledore involved in something that sensitive.
07:52In fact, most wizards felt the same way about a clemency,
07:56and Kyle was sure Chris understood that.
07:58But Chris's expression suggested he had great faith in this teacher.
08:03Kyle hesitated, not wanting to refuse outright.
08:06He decided he'd go see for himself first, if he didn't feel comfortable,
08:11he could always think of an excuse to bow out.
08:14After some discussion, Chris had initially suggested they wait until Kyle's birthday celebration,
08:20but Kyle felt otherwise.
08:22Birthdays came every year, and he was far more curious about the identity of this a clemency teacher.
08:27He wanted to confirm if this arrangement would work for him as soon as possible.
08:33Since Kyle was so eager, Chris agreed without hesitation.
08:37They headed to an open area outside the house, where Chris extended his arm.
08:42We'll disapparate there.
08:44Just grab my arm.
08:47Taking a deep breath, Kyle clutched his father's outstretched arm.
08:50Let's go.
08:52With a loud crack, they both vanished,
08:55reappearing moments later in front of a charming wooden cabin with a red roof.
09:00The cozy little house, impeccably neat and surrounded by a low fence,
09:04looked warm and inviting.
09:06Outside stood an elderly couple, smiling in greeting.
09:10Grandpa Newt.
09:12Grandma Tina.
09:13Kyle's eyes widened in surprise.
09:17He hadn't expected Chris's teacher to be Newt and Tina Scamander.
09:21But if it was them, he could hardly ask for better.
09:25Kyle, aren't you here to learn a clemency?
09:28Tina Scamander said with a laugh, pinching his cheek gently.
09:32What are you waiting for?
09:34Come on inside.
09:36Tina led him into the cozy house, showering him with biscuits and freshly baked buns.
09:41Though he'd just finished breakfast, he couldn't resist and managed to eat quite a bit more.
09:47Finally, feeling thoroughly full, Kyle rubbed his stomach and asked,
09:51Grandma Tina, are you the one who'll be teaching me?
09:55Of everyone here, Tina had the most advanced clemency skills.
09:59Her younger sister Queenie was a natural legilimens,
10:02and if Tina hadn't developed strong clemency, she'd have had no way to keep any secrets.
10:08But Tina only smiled and shook her head.
10:11I'll help you with the foundational theory, but after that, it's out of my hands.
10:16Not you.
10:18Kyle looked confused, glancing over at Newt for clarification.
10:22Not me either, kid, Newt said with a smile, placing an open crate on the ground.
10:28Come with me.
10:30I'll show you who.
10:32Kyle's stomach tightened with apprehension as he eyed the crate.
10:35But Newt had already stepped inside, so Kyle followed.
10:40The crate was astonishingly large on the inside, resembling a vast ecosystem of trees, rivers, and lakes, a forest in its own right.
10:49They walked until they reached a clearing by a lake, where an elegant creature awaited them.
10:54Gracefully approaching was a wampus cat, its sleek form moving with the silent confidence of a predator.
11:01Its piercing blue eyes fixed on Newt and Kyle, and it lowered its head slightly in acknowledgement.
11:07This is Natalie, Newt said, gently scratching the wampus cat under her chin.
11:11Remember, Kyle, every wampus cat is a natural legilimens.
11:17Of course.
11:19I remember, Kyle replied, though his enthusiasm was quickly turning into unease.
11:25Chris walked over, clapping Kyle on the shoulder with a grin.
11:29So, what do you think?
11:31Pretty impressive teacher I found for you, right?
11:35So, my teacher really is the wampus cat, Natalie?
11:39Kyle asked, eyebrows raised.
11:42Exactly, Chris said.
11:44If you want to master occlumency quickly, you'll need to feel enough pressure to trigger intense emotions.
11:50We discussed it and agreed that Natalie is best suited for the job, and she's already agreed.
11:56Chris continued, once you've learned the basics, we'll send you here.
12:01Natalie will try to break into your mind, and your job will be to keep her out and avoid getting hurt.
12:06If you can last five minutes, it'll mean your occlumency is strong enough.
12:11Wait, five minutes.
12:14Kyle looked incredulous.
12:16This is a wampus cat.
12:19Even if I manage some level of occlumency, I'd still stand no chance against her.
12:24The wampus cat was a six-legged magical creature renowned for its speed.
12:28To be blunt, if Natalie wanted to best him, she wouldn't even need legilimency, it was practically overkill.
12:36Don't worry, Newt said, his voice calm.
12:39Natalie's smart.
12:41She knows what to do.
12:43But.
12:43Kyle began, but he was cut off as Natalie stepped forward, rubbing her face against his cheek with a gentle purr.
12:52Meow.
12:53Of course I trust you, Kyle said, scratching her under the chin.
12:57I just think this method might be a bit, intense.
13:01On the contrary, Chris said, his tone serious.
13:04If we were to teach you, we'd need to use legilimency to challenge you as well, just like Natalie.
13:11But unlike us, Natalie can practice with you anytime.
13:15And she won't spill any secrets from your head.
13:19Kyle paused, realizing Chris had a point.
13:22Being subjected to legilimency was unnerving, but if it was Natalie, it somehow felt a bit more bearable.
13:28Okay, I agree, Kyle said, nodding.
13:33Natalie purred approvingly, then lifted her front paw and gave him a swift, surprisingly firm kick right on the backside.
13:40Whoosh.
13:42Without a moment to react, Kyle was launched into the air, spinning as he went, before splashing down into the lake nearby.
13:50Chris and Newt, momentarily taken aback, quickly exchanged a knowing look.
13:55Looks like she's already set on starting his training, Newt chuckled.
14:00I'll be heading over to check on an air.
14:03She recently had a litter of nifflers and could use some help recovering.
14:07And I'll go with you, Chris replied, shaking his head in amusement.
14:12I'm off today anyway.
14:14Newt nodded, and they began walking toward another section of the sanctuary.
14:19But after a few steps, Chris turned back and shouted, remember, no charms allowed.
14:24A single hand rose from the lake, waving in reluctant acknowledgement.

14:31Chapter 128, Newt, Danger
14:34No one knew better than Kyle what it was like to face an adult wampus cat without a wand or any other form of magic.
14:42He had been in Dorset for a week now, and apart from eating and sleeping, he spent nearly every moment getting thoroughly pummeled by Natalie.
14:49The wampus cat's piercing blue eyes could see directly into Kyle's thoughts.
14:55No matter how he tried to hide, her paw would appear right in front of him, softly if he managed to block her legilimency, or with enough force to send him flying if he failed.
15:05If she saw only blurs in his mind, he'd get a gentle tap, but if his mind was an open book, she'd mercilessly knock him into the lake.
15:14The first few days, Kyle took more dives than he cared to count, his clothes perpetually soaked.
15:20But gradually, as he focused and improved, the incidents lessened, and after a week, when Natalie's paw struck him, it was light enough that he only stumbled before regaining his footing.
15:30Very good, Kyle, Tina called encouragingly from the sidelines.
15:36She held a small niffler in her arms, her tone firm.
15:40Keep your mind free of those wandering thoughts.
15:44Don't think about what's coming next, just stay in the moment.
15:48Unlike Chris and Newt, who mostly left him to his own devices, Tina visited regularly.
15:53When she sensed Kyle's focus wavering or his anxiety rising, she'd offer him gentle reminders.
15:59Hearing her now, Kyle turned and gave her a thumbs up.
16:04Natalie, watching him from across the clearing, tilted her head, surprised.
16:09It seemed she hadn't seen his reaction, otherwise, she'd have given him a sharp tap for letting his guard down.
16:16Tina raised an eyebrow, noticing this subtle change.
16:20Later, when she returned to the house, she found Newt working over a bubbling cauldron.
16:25I think you can go ahead and write to Chris, she said with a slight smile.
16:30So soon.
16:32Newt looked up, clearly surprised.
16:35It's only been a week.
16:37Has he already managed to resist Natalie's legilimency?
16:41More or less, Tina replied, setting the little niffler down.
16:46Natalie's no longer as relaxed as she was at the start, she's moving faster now,
16:50and I'd say she's mostly reacting by instinct rather than using legilimency.
16:55Neither Kyle nor Natalie has noticed it yet, but I believe he's made enough progress.
17:01Wampus cats were, after all, magical creatures with highly refined instincts.
17:07Even if Natalie was no longer using legilimency directly,
17:10her body was conditioned to behave as if she were, following vague impressions rather than specific thoughts.
17:15Dumbledore was right.
17:18Kyle's a remarkably talented boy, Newt remarked, standing and dusting off his robes.
17:25I thought he'd need at least a couple of weeks.
17:28I'll write to Chris and ask him to come pick Kyle up.
17:31Tina thought for a moment, then said,
17:33Wait, are Chris and Diana planning anything over the next few days?
17:38Newt paused, considering.
17:40I don't think so.
17:41Chris mentioned he'd take Kyle shopping in Diagon Alley for his school supplies before term starts.
17:48Well then, there's no rush, Tina said, smiling slightly.
17:53Let's let him stay a few extra days.
17:56It's been ages since I've seen him.
17:59Newt scratched his head, puzzled.
18:02Didn't you just tell me to write the letter?
18:04Tina only shot him a knowing look.
18:07Newt chuckled, relenting.
18:09All right, whatever you say.
18:12He returned to his cauldron, adding a pinch of white powder to the mix.
18:17The liquid shifted to a light yellow, and wisps of pink smoke wafted out, filling the air with a sweet scent.
18:24The little Niffler, who had been surreptitiously stuffing a silver spoon into his pocket, froze, his nose twitching as he sniffed the air.
18:31His eyes fixed on the cauldron, and he licked his lips, looking utterly captivated.
18:37The Niffler glanced around, then waddled over to a nearby shelf, angling himself for a leap toward the cauldron.
18:44With a small hop, he launched himself forward.
18:48But before he could reach the pot, Newt caught him mid-air.
18:52Not so fast.
18:53Patience, now, Newt scolded gently, giving the Niffler a soft pat.
18:59And no hiding that spoon.
19:01Hand it over.
19:03The Niffler tried to cover his pockets with his front paws, attempting a quick getaway on his remaining three legs.
19:09Oh no, you don't, Newt said, holding the Niffler by his hind legs and giving his belly a gentle scratch.
19:17With a defeated jingling sound, several objects tumbled from the Niffler's pocket, the silver spoon, three nuts, a button, and a small whistle.
19:26Newt blinked, chuckling in amusement at the pile of trinkets.
19:30He wasn't quite sure when or where the little creature had managed to squirrel all those things away.
19:35At dinner, Kyle dragged himself out of the box, visibly exhausted.
19:41Tina handed him a towel.
19:43How are you feeling, she asked gently.
19:46Not so great, Kyle admitted, wiping his face.
19:50Honestly, I don't feel any improvement from yesterday.
19:54That's perfectly normal, Tina replied with a warm smile.
19:58A clemency can't be rushed.
20:01You've been at it non-stop for a week, it's a good idea to take a break.
20:06Kyle nodded in agreement.
20:08After days of relentless training, a change of pace sounded refreshing.
20:13How about baking cookies with me tomorrow?
20:16Tina suggested.
20:18We'll start with that in the morning and practice a clemency in the afternoon.
20:22Sure, Kyle agreed readily.
20:25Although he'd rather explore the other magical creatures in Newt's sanctuary, baking cookies was a welcome distraction, as long as it didn't involve Natalie's watchful eyes.
20:35At that moment, Newt wandered over.
20:37Do you think we could make them grapefruit-flavored, he asked.
20:42Of course, Tina replied, a bit taken aback.
20:45She hadn't expected Newt to remember her grapefruit-flavored cookies from when they first moved to Dorset.
20:51Thanks, Newt said as he washed his hands and sat down at the table, reaching for a slice of bread.
20:58I remember an air-loved grapefruit.
21:01Silence fell over the room.
21:03Tina's smile vanished instantly.
21:06Oh, right.
21:08She said in an uncharacteristically flat tone, setting down her spoon.
21:12I just remembered, we're out of grapefruit.
21:16Butter cookies it is.
21:18Newt blinked, confused.
21:21But didn't you just say, crunch?
21:24Tina snapped the spoon in her hand, her expression severe.
21:28Let me be clear, she said sharply.
21:31We don't have any grapefruit.

21:35Chapter 129, The Suitcase and the Niffler
21:39In the Days that Followed, Kyle's Routine Shifted
21:41At Tina's suggestion, he began spending mornings baking cookies and bread with her.
21:48Sometimes he even helped Newt care for the other magical creatures in the sanctuary.
21:53In the afternoons, he continued his occlumency training with Natalie, the wampus cat,
21:57though progress was still frustratingly slow.
22:01It felt as if he was perpetually just short of a breakthrough.
22:05Another week passed, and when Kyle arrived at the clearing by the lake,
22:09he was surprised not to see Natalie waiting for him.
22:12Am I early?
22:13He muttered.
22:15No, your training is complete, Tina said, walking over with Newt,
22:19who was carrying a bucket of apples, and the wampus cat at their side.
22:24In fact, Natalie hasn't been able to read your thoughts for a few days now, Newt explained.
22:30Her recent attacks were purely instinctual.
22:33Kyle frowned.
22:35Instinctual.
22:37Newt nodded.
22:38If you don't believe me, let's test it.
22:41He pulled two apples from the bucket, one large and one small.
22:46Choose an apple.
22:48Together.
22:49Natalie glanced at Kyle, and both pointed to the larger apple.
22:54Kyle turned his head, puzzled, as Newt's face turned slightly pink.
22:58Ahem.
23:00Just a coincidence, he mumbled, dumping the remaining apples onto the ground.
23:05Let's try it a few more times.
23:07The wampus cat looked at Kyle again, and this time, they chose different apples.
23:12The same thing happened in subsequent attempts.
23:17Satisfied, Newt pocketed his wand and returned the apples to the bucket.
23:21Now do you believe me?
23:23Yes, Kyle nodded, convinced.
23:26If Natalie had still been able to read his mind, they'd have picked the same apple each
23:30time.
23:32As they headed back to the house, Kyle asked, did you know I'd completed a clemency for
23:36a while?
23:38For about a week, Tina replied.
23:41Wondering why we didn't tell you?
23:43Kyle nodded, curious.
23:46At first, we wanted to be absolutely sure, Tina explained.
23:51But as the days went on, I realized you were managing well.
23:55Besides.
23:57She chuckled, a twinkle in her eye.
24:00You've always performed so well, it was a bit fun watching you look a little lost now
24:04and then.
24:05Kyle's mouth twitched as he glanced at Tina, who, despite her 90 years, still seemed to
24:11have a mischievous side.
24:13What kind of sense of humor is that?
24:15But, regardless, learning a clemency was a worthwhile achievement.
24:20Kyle stayed with the Scamanders for another three days, finally departing a week before the
24:25start of the school year.
24:27Newt didn't write to Chris about his return.
24:29Instead, he personally saw Kyle off.
24:33Just before he left, Newt handed him a small box.
24:36Your birthday present, Newt said, handing Kyle the box.
24:41I'd prepared it earlier, but since you were busy learning a clemency, I had to wait until
24:45now.
24:47Hope it's not too late.
24:49Kyle took the box eagerly.
24:51It was slightly smaller than Newt's own well-traveled suitcase, but it was modern and freshly crafted,
24:57clearly made recently.
24:59The space inside isn't enormous, but it should be just right for you, Newt said with a smile.
25:05Make good use of it, and don't go putting any magical creatures in there, alright?
25:10I'd rather not hear you got expelled from Hogwarts one day.
25:14Kyle grinned, knowing Newt's own Hogwarts career had ended abruptly over someone else's
25:19crime.
25:19Once Newt left, Kyle hurried home, carrying the box with anticipation.
25:26With Chris and Diana both out, the house felt empty.
25:30He went straight to his room, set the suitcase on the floor, opened it, and jumped inside.
25:35The space below was indeed small, a cozy room with only a basic shelf.
25:41But outside the room was a vast, open meadow, nearly as large as two quidditch pitches, with
25:46a tranquil lake in the middle.
25:49Though smaller than Newt's sprawling menagerie, the area felt huge to Kyle.
25:53At 12, still a student at Hogwarts, this was more than enough for his needs.
25:59He wandered around, mentally mapping out spots for various projects and creatures.
26:04This area's good.
26:07Once I learned the atmospheric charm, I could make a rocky den here for moon calves.
26:12I'll put Devil's Snare nearby.
26:14Close to the lake would be perfect for the chomping cabbage, he mused.
26:19For simpler plants like Dibney, I'll set up a spot near the moon calves, easy access.
26:25And those trees over there, perfect for bowtruckles.
26:28They'll love it.
26:30Walking along, Kyle eventually reached the lake.
26:34He hesitated slightly as he looked into the sparkling water but quickly reminded himself
26:38there was no wampus cat here to toss him in.
26:41He looked down into the clear depths, spotting a few lionfish drifting lazily near the bottom.
26:47Just as he was about to move on, he felt a small poking sensation at his shirt pocket.
26:53Startled, he looked down to see a tiny creature the size of his palm.
26:57It had soft black fur, a small, flat nose resembling a duck's bill, but otherwise looked like
27:04a miniature mole.
27:05Niffler.
27:07Kyle whispered in surprise.
27:09He hadn't expected another gift hidden in the box.
27:13The tiny Niffler, clearly very young, clung to his robe with its tiny paws, fiercely gripping
27:18a gold galleon that it was trying to stash in its pocket.
27:22Kyle watched, amused, as the Niffler attempted to complete its heist, slowly managing to tuck
27:27the galleon into its pocket.
27:30But just as the coin was nearly hidden, Kyle gently plucked it out, lifting the determined
27:34little creature along with it.
27:37The Niffler clung to the galleon, its little paws gripping it as tightly as it could even
27:41as Kyle gave it a gentle shake.
27:44How did you end up here?
27:46Kyle asked, amused.
27:48Since Newt hadn't mentioned the Niffler as part of the gift, it was likely this little
27:52one had snuck in on its own.
27:55The Niffler, still clinging to the galleon, tilted its head as if it hadn't understood
27:59a word.
28:01Then, undeterred, it tried to stuff the coin into its pocket once again, managing the feat
28:06with a kind of mini-pull-up.

28:10Chapter 130, The Weasley Brothers' interrogation Nifflers have an innate love for anything that
28:15glitters.
28:17From the moment they're born, they seem to spend every waking hour either searching
28:21for treasure or preparing to do so.
28:23They're rarely ever still.
28:26The young Niffler in front of Kyle was barely a month old, just slightly larger than a galleon,
28:30and had likely snuck into his trunk when Newt wasn't looking.
28:34Kyle had already noticed, during his time in Dorset, that Newt spent hours each day tracking
28:40down runaway Nifflers.
28:42If anyone else had been in Newt's shoes, Kyle thought they would have given up long
28:46ago.
28:47But having only one Niffler around shouldn't be a problem.
28:51To ease Newt's worry, Kyle quickly wrote a note explaining the stowaway, handed it to
28:55Ratten, and watched as the owl flew out of the window with the letter.
28:59This communication system is so inconvenient, Kyle muttered, scratching his chin thoughtfully.
29:06While the wizarding world had its charms, communication methods felt downright primitive.
29:11A single letter, even with an owl, took at least half a day for round-trip delivery, nothing
29:17like the instant convenience of a phone call.
29:20He knew Newt wouldn't have minded using muggle devices, but the Scamanders lived too remotely,
29:26nearly in the mountains and surrounded by muggle-repelling charms.
29:30Installing a phone or answering machine there was unlikely.
29:34After seeing Ratten off, Kyle placed the Niffler back in his trunk, then took a quick shower
29:39and changed into fresh clothes.
29:41It was worth noting that the clothes Chris had sent him in Dorset were from last year.
29:45Kyle had grown so much this year that he could barely fit into them, so Tina had made a few
29:51adjustments to make them wearable, at least for now.
29:55Not long afterward, the Weasley twins arrived.
29:59As soon as Kyle opened the door, Fred and George barreled in like bandits.
30:04We saw your owl flying off and figured you'd finally returned, Fred announced, draping an
30:09arm around Kyle's shoulders with a mock serious expression.
30:12I can't believe you vanished for half a month without a word.
30:16George added, blocking Kyle on the other side.
30:20Even worse, we didn't get a single letter from you the whole time.
30:24Do you have any idea how worried we were?
30:27Fred added, turning up the dramatics.
30:30Kyle, however, wasn't buying it.
30:33Worried about me.
30:34I'd expect that line to work only on Ron.
30:38Really now, because if I remember correctly, neither of you has written to me in over half
30:43a month, either.
30:45Kyle raised an eyebrow, looking between them.
30:49Are you sure this is about worrying over me?
30:51The twins exchanged a panicked glance, their serious facades crumbling almost instantly.
30:57You didn't write to Kyle.
31:00Fred whispered to George.
31:01No, I thought you did.
31:04Well, so did I.
31:07In truth, the twins had known about Kyle's trip to Dorset from the day he'd left, Chris
31:12had told them himself, so they weren't worried in the least.
31:16They'd only concocted this line to give Kyle a hard time, hoping to mess with him a bit.
31:21Unfortunately, their carefully crafted plan, put together the night before, had fallen
31:26apart almost immediately.
31:27Their excuse, about sending letters with Errol, was weak at best.
31:33They'd been so absorbed in skiving snack box research that they hadn't even thought
31:37about writing to Kyle.
31:39Ahem.
31:41Of course we were worried about you, Fred stammered, sounding anything but convincing.
31:46But you know, Errol's getting pretty old, and we just couldn't bear to make him fly that
31:51far with a letter.
31:52Fly that far?
31:53Kyle raised an eyebrow.
31:57Sounds like you knew exactly where I was.
32:00The twins' faces grew even more awkward.
32:03Just a guess.
32:05You know, an educated guess, Fred said, trying to salvage the moment.
32:10But now that we see you're fine, we're quite relieved.
32:14Is that so?
32:16Kyle drawled with a skeptical look.
32:18You're quite the fortune tellers, then.
32:20Maybe you too should sign up for divination this semester, you'd be the stars of the class.
32:27With his narrowed eyes and slow drawl, he looked just one greasy lock of hair away from a certain
32:32potions professor.
32:34Err, we'll think about it, George said sheepishly, eager to change the subject.
32:39By the way, we've got good news.
32:41Over the past couple of weeks, we not only wrapped up the fat-tongued toffee but also developed a second
32:48product for the skiving snack box.
32:51He pulled a small, orange fruit jelly from his pocket.
32:55It was translucent, looking almost like a shiny pea.
32:58Fred winked at Kyle.
33:01Care to guess what it does?
33:03Kyle took the jelly and inspected it.
33:05Unlike the fat-tongued toffee, this piece had no detectable potion smell, suggesting that
33:11the twins had perfected its creation.
33:14Taking a wild guess, he said, does it make people's noses bleed?
33:18Fred and George's faces lit up simultaneously.
33:22Nose bleeds.
33:24Fred exclaimed, eyes wide with excitement.
33:27Kyle, that's brilliant.
33:30Why didn't we think of that?
33:31George slapped himself on the forehead in a dramatic show of frustration.
33:36A nosebleed, what a perfect excuse to skip out of class.
33:41Kyle, you're a genius.
33:43Kyle grinned.
33:45Thanks.
33:46It's nice to know my brilliance is appreciated.
33:50Too bad school starting soon, Fred sighed, looking deflated.
33:54We won't get a chance to test it out this year.
33:57Maybe over Christmas break, George suggested wistfully.
34:02Or next summer.
34:04Watching them lament as if they'd just lost a hundred galleons, Kyle chuckled, holding up
34:09the gummy.
34:10Alright, so what does this one actually do?
34:13It's a puking pastille, George explained, shrugging.
34:18Makes you throw up.
34:20Handy, right?
34:21But this one's still a prototype, Fred added.
34:25We're working on a quick antidote.
34:28Vomiting non-stop doesn't quite do the trick.
34:31Do you need any help?
34:33Kyle asked.
34:35Not this time, Fred replied, shaking his head.
34:38The main ingredient in the puking pastille is diluted Sneezwort juice.
34:43Combine it with Rue and Daisy Root, and you have a perfect counter, and we're close to
34:48nailing it.
34:49Kyle nodded in understanding.
34:51Sneezwort and Rue were a classic pairing, ideal for antidote making.
