00:00This is outrageous, sir.
00:07You are nothing but a well-dressed loan shark.
00:10Miss Rogers, I assure you, this is a very competitive interest rate,
00:15considering your financial history.
00:17However, if your son cosigned...
00:18Yes.
00:19No, no, no, no.
00:19This is my loan, not his, to pay for repairs to my acting studio, not his.
00:24If you would just let me cosign the loan, or I could just give you the money...
00:27Richard, I'm a businesswoman now.
00:30I do not want your money, I do not want your signature.
00:32Thank you very much. It's the principal.
00:34No, Miss Rogers, it's the interest.
00:37And I've just lost mine, excuse me.
00:40I have a million dollars into this.
00:44Yeah, so...
00:45What do you want, Castle?
00:49Tell me you need me.
00:52Excuse me?
00:53I'm stuck at a bank helping my mother get a loan from my banker.
00:56Please tell me that there's a murder somewhere we could be solving.
01:00Uh, sorry, there's no dead bodies, just a lot of paperwork.
01:02But you're welcome to come and do your share, for once.
01:05Anything worse than being here is being there doing paperwork.
01:08You know, how come we're partners when I'm chasing down bad guys,
01:10and as soon as there's paperwork, I'm on a solo mission?
01:13Hmm.
01:14What?
01:15I think this bank is about to be robbed.
01:27Really? Are you that bored?
01:28There's a man and a woman here, dressed in scrubs.
01:37And both of them have suspicious bulges in their jackets.
01:42Castle, I think your writer's imagination is getting away with you.
01:47Everybody get down on the floor!
01:50It's not my imagination.
01:51It's definitely not my imagination.
01:53Oh, God!
01:59Castle, what's happening?
02:00Oh, God!
02:03Okay, okay!
02:05Where are you?
02:06I'm at the New Amsterdam Bank and Trust on Lex.
02:09Esposito, there's a 1030 New Amsterdam Bank and Trust on Lex.
02:12Call dispatch.
02:131030? Since when are we handling bank robbery calls?
02:16Castle's there.
02:16I'm hiding behind a desk with my mother, but I can see everything.
02:36They're wearing Dr. Scrupps.
02:37One of them is emptying the cash drawers.
02:40Another one is going for the bank manager.
02:43He's getting the manager's key.
02:49He's going to the back of the bank.
02:52Yo, we got squad cars in route.
02:54Castle, I need you to listen very carefully. How many are there?
02:57There are three.
03:02Make that four.
03:04So you're the hero I'm going to make an example of.
03:09Sorry, your friend can't talk right now.
03:10I wouldn't worry about him, I'd worry about yourself.
03:13I've got squad cars on their way.
03:15You a cop?
03:16You called a cop?
03:17No, we were already on the line when you guys came in.
03:20Listen to me, so far nobody has been hurt and nothing has been stolen.
03:24So if you just leave the same way that you came in, you can just disappear.
03:28You're going to promise not to come look for me?
03:31I don't look, I hunt.
03:34And trust me, you don't want that.
03:35So leave now, and this will just be a quirky little article in the metro section.
03:44Sorry, sweetheart.
03:45I'd rather make the front page.
03:49Let's go.
03:50Dr. Houser, Dr. Quinn, cops are going to be here sooner than we thought.
03:53All right, kiss the floor like the others.
03:55Come on, you two, get down.
03:57Dr. Hoxstable, let's go.
03:58All right, bank cameras are down.
04:00And then we drive destroyed.
04:06Cops!
04:06All right, doctors.
04:08We've trained for this.
04:09You know what to do.
04:10Looks like we're all going to get to know each other a lot better.
04:30I think SWAT analysis, SITREP, building blueprints, five minutes.
04:44Who are you?
04:45Detective Kate Beckett, homicide.
04:47I'll be sure to call if someone dies.
04:48Meanwhile, I need you to step outside.
04:49No, sir, my partner is in that bank.
04:51Wait, we got a cop in there?
04:53He's a civilian investigator.
04:55He and I were on the phone when they took over the bank.
04:57He said that there's four suspects in there.
04:59They're dressed up in doctor's scrubs.
05:00Anything else you can tell me?
05:01Yeah, I spoke with one of the suspects.
05:03What was his demeanor?
05:05Calm, actually, very calm.
05:08Thanks for the intel.
05:09We'll do everything we can to get your partner out safe.
05:11Okay, so what's our next move?
05:13Well, your next move is to leave my command post.
05:16Want to help your partner?
05:18Let me do my job.
05:21I need a line on that bank.
05:22I'm going to talk to this guy.
05:23Yes, sir.
05:25You missed your cue, detective.
05:27Get those units, move those people back.
05:35I want them to work with that bank.
05:37All right.
05:38I'm going to make this real simple.
05:41You move, you die.
05:45Got it?
05:51Is anyone hurt?
05:52All right.
05:57Stay relaxed.
05:58Do as they say.
06:00We'll get through this.
06:02The cops will get us out.
06:03What do you find out?
06:10That our services aren't needed.
06:15I swear, do you still have buddies in ESU?
06:17Of course.
06:18Good.
06:18I want to know what they know.
06:19And let's get a hold of major crimes, find out if there are any other robberies with similar
06:23animals.
06:23The more we know about these guys, the more leverage we got.
06:26Detective Beckett.
06:29Captain Peterson would like a word.
06:34Tell me, what were you thinking?
06:36I was just trying to help out, sir.
06:39What, by charming the bank robber?
06:40What?
06:41We get him on the horn, but before I get two words out, he says, and I quote,
06:44I will only talk to the lady cop, the one with the bedroom voice.
06:49Yeah.
06:49You want it in?
06:51Well, you're in.
06:52No, sir.
06:52I don't have any training in hostage negotiations.
06:55Well, I don't have time to give you a seminar, so think of it like this.
06:58You do the opposite of whatever your homicide training tells you, okay?
07:01So don't yell, don't bully, don't threaten them in any way.
07:04It's all about keeping them calm.
07:06Detective, you up for this?
07:10Yeah.
07:11Yeah, absolutely.
07:12Now, it's important to keep them talking.
07:13You've got to build rapport.
07:14As long as he's busy talking, he's not busy hurting hostages.
07:18Okay.
07:18Okay?
07:19Mm-hmm.
07:23Who's this?
07:23This is Detective Kate Beckett.
07:25I understand that you wanted to speak with me.
07:26Yeah, I don't like that other guy.
07:28Yeah, me neither.
07:31He said to build a rapport.
07:35So what's your name?
07:36You can call me Trapper John.
07:38I'm Ash fan.
07:39It's nice.
07:41So how are you doing?
07:42Anything I can do to help?
07:43Oh, Kate, Kate, Kate.
07:46You're running that idiot's playbook, aren't you?
07:48What did Captain Confidence tell you?
07:51Keep me calm.
07:53Build rapport.
07:54Extract information.
07:57Here's how it's going to work.
07:58You lie to me, I kill hostages.
08:01You jerk me around, I kill hostages.
08:04If you stormed the bank, I kill hostages.
08:08And Kate?
08:13I'll start with your boyfriend.
08:14I'll start with your boyfriend.
08:14My boyfriend.
08:27Thank you for having me.
08:35We learned one thing.
08:36What's that?
08:37He's not a punk who just woke up and decided to rob a bank.
08:39He knows what he's doing.
08:40He knows our playbook.
08:42This guy's a pro.
08:44SWAT tap into the cameras at the bank yet?
08:46Still working on it, sir.
08:47Also, there's a Susan Craig for the bank's green branch on line.
08:50Sir, what do you want me to do?
08:51Nothing.
08:53I'm sorry?
08:53It's not a homicide detective.
08:55It's not all about moving forward or digging for the next clue.
08:57Here, sometimes no move is the best move.
09:00Let Trapper John think about things, and then we'll call him back.
09:13This is your fault, you know.
09:32He called the cops.
09:34I saw him.
09:35If it wasn't for this guy, the bank robbers would have come and gone.
09:39We'd all be out of here.
09:40No.
09:40No, the cops were coming anyway.
09:42The bank robbers, they screwed up.
09:44They pulled the bottom bills from the cash drawer.
09:46Which automatically triggers the silent alarm, okay?
09:49No one's fault.
09:56Simone, how far along are you?
10:0032 weeks.
10:01Oh.
10:01Holding a pregnant woman hostage?
10:03They should let you go.
10:04Lady, they're not letting her go.
10:06They're not letting any of us go.
10:08I've seen this movie before.
10:10I know how it ends.
10:11All of us dead.
10:12Oh.
10:13We are not going to die.
10:15We're going to be fine.
10:17I work with the police, and my partner is going to get us out.
10:23Dr. Huxtable.
10:29Mr. Davenport.
10:31What's behind those doors back there?
10:32Rest room, break room, security room, and the safe deposit boxes.
10:37I saw them take a key from around your neck.
10:39What does it open?
10:40Yeah, that's my security key for the safe deposit boxes.
10:44Something is going on here.
10:46Why does he keep going back there when there's a vault full of cash up here that's untouched?
10:51Oh, Richard, I know that.
10:53Look, please.
10:54Curiosity killed the cat.
10:55Something weird is going on here.
10:57We need to figure out what it is.
10:58And I know exactly what to do.
11:03Don't worry, Mother.
11:05I saw this work on Die Hard.
11:07Oh, great.
11:08Great.
11:09Uh, Mr. Houser, excuse me, Dr. Houser.
11:12You've got a deaf voice.
11:14No, just a small bladder.
11:15And, uh, unfortunately, it looks like we're going to be here for a while.
11:18So, unless you like it messy, now might be a good time to start arranging some restaurants.
11:28So, why Doogie Houser?
11:45I mean, there's so many cool TV doctors you could pick.
11:49Dr. Houser, Dr. Shepard, Dr. Phil...
11:51Shut up.
11:55Anything?
11:56All bad news.
11:58ESU can't get eyes or ears inside.
12:00Bank cameras are disabled, and the walls are too thick to drill from outside.
12:03So, what if ESU storms the bank?
12:05They'll be going in blind.
12:08And in your experience, in this scenario, what are the hostages' chances of survival?
12:12Hey, um, I'm sorry about before.
12:30Oh, please, it's...
12:31Well, it's the job.
12:33Yeah.
12:33Actually, I'm a fan.
12:35In Midsummer Night's Dream, you played Titania in Shakespeare in the Park.
12:38That was in the 80s.
12:40How could you possibly remember that?
12:42Oh, you were unforgettable.
12:43If I have to die, I'm glad I'm going with someone who knows my work.
12:49All right.
12:55Who else needs the loo?
12:57I'll go.
12:57Did you learn anything?
13:05Two things.
13:07Firstly, the restrooms here at the bank are quite lovely, excepting for the lack of windows
13:11or any other means of escape.
13:13Second, and more importantly, I was right.
13:17Something odd is going on.
13:19I saw Trapper John in the safe deposit box room.
13:22He'd pull out a box, and he was removing letters and photos.
13:26And he didn't break in either.
13:27He used both keys.
13:28One's my manager's key.
13:29The other one must be the owner's key.
13:32This is a very strange time for Trapper John to get something from his safe deposit box.
13:36I'm assuming the box isn't his.
13:38These guys set off the alarm on purpose.
13:40They wanted this hostage standoff.
13:44I mean, come on, look at these guys.
13:45They're professionals, right?
13:46They know better than to take the bottom bills from the cash drawer.
13:48But why?
13:52Time.
13:54Safe deposit box keys don't have numbers on them, so if it's not his key, he'd have to
13:58try every lock until he got to the right box, and that would take time.
14:01Okay, Mr. Devin.
14:03The box he pulled was on the north wall.
14:06It was four columns over three boxes down.
14:09Well, that would be box 120.
14:14Okay.
14:15We figure out whose box that is, so we can figure out what these people are really up to.
14:19Yeah, well, I don't think they're going to let us use the computer.
14:23Maybe we won't have to.
14:25Mother, the bracelet I gave you for your birthday?
14:27Oh, no.
14:28I love this bracelet.
14:30All right.
14:32Captain, it's him.
14:37Remember the strategy.
14:38Yeah.
14:43Hey, how's it going?
14:45So far so good.
14:47Yeah, and how are the hostages?
14:49Pretty concerned about the pregnant bank teller, Simone?
14:52It's kind of a stressful situation.
14:53Might want to get her out of there.
14:55No, no, no, Kate.
14:56You've got to give before you can receive.
15:00Okay, what would you like?
15:03A bus with tenant windows.
15:05It'll take me, my partners, and my hostages to Teterboro Airport.
15:08There you're going to have a plane waiting to take us to the foreign country of my choosing.
15:12May you do that?
15:13I give it to the knocked-up bank teller.
15:15Once we land in paradise, I release the rest of the hostages.
15:18And Kate, you got three hours.
15:23Hey, Monfils, find me a bus with tenant windows and get it over here.
15:25Wait a minute.
15:26You're actually giving him what he wants?
15:28Of course not.
15:28The only way that guy's leaving the building is either in handcuffs or a body bag.
15:32But if it comes to it, I can use that bus to lure the robbers out, have snipers take them out.
15:36What the?
15:42You see that?
15:44Yeah.
15:52That's Morse code.
15:58Stop, Richard.
16:03Clear.
16:06Uh, S-D-B-1-2-0 over and over again.
16:12What do you think it means?
16:12Some of the initials, a code, same day bank.
16:17Save.
16:17Save.
16:18Wait, wait.
16:19Save, um, could be, uh, safe.
16:21Safe.
16:22S-D-B-Safe deposit box.
16:25Safe deposit box 120.
16:27That's it.
16:28Really?
16:28What would a safe deposit box have to do with anything?
16:30I don't know, but if Castle went to the trouble of sending that message, it means something.
16:33Why do you know it's him?
16:35Trust me.
16:35That's him.
16:37Safe deposit box number 120.
16:39Belongs to a married couple, Agnes and Gideon Fields.
16:41Anything special about the box?
16:42No, just that bank record show they both access a monthly.
16:46I'll get my team to check it out.
16:48Richard.
16:49Be innocent.
16:51Be innocent.
16:53You're indicating.
16:54See, even a layman can spot an uninspired performance, huh?
17:03Yes, Mother.
17:04Hey, when I was coming back, I got a glimpse inside their duffel bag.
17:21There were white bricks with wires and timers attached to it.
17:25I think it could be C4.
17:28C4?
17:28Are you sure?
17:29Yeah.
17:30They're going to blow us a lot.
17:31Calm down.
17:32Just calm down.
17:33How am I supposed to calm down?
17:34I've got a family to think about.
17:35You all have families.
17:36Now calm down.
17:39What's your name?
17:41Sal.
17:42Sal Martino.
17:43Okay.
17:45You got a wife, Sal?
17:46Kids?
17:47Yeah.
17:47I have a son.
17:49What's his name?
17:52Connor.
17:53I bet the only thing you can think about is seeing him again.
17:56Am I right?
17:57You have no idea.
17:59Good.
18:00So you just keep thinking on that.
18:03You think about how you're going to see Connor again real soon.
18:06Because I'm going to figure out a way to get us all out of here.
18:08I promise.
18:12I need some air.
18:14Dave, why is there no air in this place?
18:16What the hell is going on?
18:17Come on here.
18:18I thought this was about a safe deposit box.
18:20Why would they need C4?
18:21Maybe I don't want anyone to know what they stole from that box.
18:24And the C4 is to make sure that no one ever does.
18:32Agnes and Gideon Fields, open up, please.
18:34This is the NYPD.
18:35It doesn't make any sense.
18:35What could this old couple's safety deposit box have to do with what's going on in that bank?
18:40Maybe everything.
18:41The bank said that Agnes and Gideon were accessing their box once a month, right?
18:45I just got a text from the precinct.
18:46Gideon Fields died four years ago, so whoever's accessing that box wasn't him.
18:52Agnes, this is NYPD.
18:54Open up, please.
18:56The radio's on.
18:57Whoa, whoa, whoa.
18:58We can't go in there.
18:58We don't have a warrant.
18:59We don't have probable cause.
19:00Bro, Castle's life depends on this.
19:03Did you just hear that?
19:04I think I just heard someone yell out.
19:06Help, police.
19:07Help, police.
19:08There it is again.
19:10Agnes!
19:11Agnes!
19:22Yeah.
19:22It's Agnes.
19:25What the hell's going on?
19:26Looks like the owner of our safety deposit box has been dead maybe a week.
19:36Look at your marks on her neck indicate strangulation.
19:39What'd you find at the crime scene?
19:40Place is trashed.
19:42Killer was looking for something.
19:43There's a broken keychain necklace on the body.
19:46There's no key.
19:47Okay, that might have been where she kept the key for the safe deposit box.
19:50I don't get it.
19:51This is a little old retired librarian.
19:53What could possibly be in her safe deposit box?
19:55It would be worth doing all this.
19:56Nazi gold, cold fusion, map to Atlantis.
20:00Hey, Castle Jr., could you maybe start thinking like a cop, please?
20:03I am.
20:04Are you?
20:05It had to have been something huge that was worth killing her over, right?
20:08Hey, super cop.
20:11Check it out.
20:13What is it?
20:14It's a bug.
20:15It's not from a spy shop either.
20:16This looks professional.
20:18Listen, I need you to dig up everything you can on Agnes Fields.
20:20I gotta go.
20:24They're here, aren't they?
20:25My dad and Kramer are in there.
20:26I know they were coming to this bank.
20:27And now no one's answering their phones.
20:28My dad always takes my calls and you're here.
20:30Listen, everything is gonna be fine, okay?
20:33But they are inside that bank.
20:38What is it?
20:40I need to get over to those windows to get a message to Beckett about the C4.
20:44Oh, God.
20:45Richard, please.
20:46It is too dangerous.
20:48We are hostages.
20:49Behave accordingly.
20:50Please.
20:57Richard.
20:58Uh, Dr. Quinn.
21:00What's your problem?
21:03It's just where I come from, Dr. Quinn, we don't make pregnant women sit on hard floors.
21:08Is it hard if I get some cushions from the sofa for her?
21:13Make it fast, pretty boy.
21:15Thanks.
21:16Oh, I'm going to shoot.
21:27Oh, don't shoot, don't shoot, don't shoot, don't shoot.
21:33Don't, don't shoot.
21:41Don't shoot, don't shoot.
21:46He's having a seizure.
21:47Sal.
21:49Easy.
21:52Great.
21:53Epilepsy.
21:54This guy needs help.
21:55Then help him.
21:57Hey, look, Dr. Quinn, the man just had a grand mal seizure.
22:00So unless you really are a medicine woman, he needs a hospital now.
22:05Get Rappel John.
22:06Move!
22:08Perfect.
22:09A fake doctor calls in another fake doctor for a consult.
22:14What am I supposed to do?
22:15Nothing. We're doing everything we can.
22:18I don't understand. They're all I've got.
22:19Do you hear me? They're all I've got.
22:21Alexis, listen to me. I promise you, they're going to be okay.
22:26They'd better.
22:28Beckett! Incoming call.
22:31Okay, I've got to go. Stay with her.
22:42Hey, it's Ash. I'll hand you back.
22:45Ash, I know you're busy, but I need you.
22:48My dad, he's...
22:49You've got to call me back right away as soon as you get this.
22:53I really need you.
22:55Beckett.
22:56Look, Kate, one of the hostages had an epileptic fit and passed down.
23:00I normally...
23:00I wouldn't care, but it's starting to upset the other hostages,
23:02and I don't want anyone trying to be a hero.
23:04So, here's the deal.
23:05You're going to send in one paramedic to get him
23:07in exchange for this generosity.
23:09You're going to have my bus right outside in 20.
23:12That's not enough time.
23:13But it's for me.
23:14Take this guy now and get my bus outside in 20,
23:17or I'll start popping hostages.
23:19How soon till we get that bus?
23:2335 minutes.
23:25You're going to have to ask more time.
23:26He's not going to go for it.
23:28And then we're going to storm the bank.
23:29We can't storm the bank.
23:30We don't know where anybody is in there.
23:32If we go in there, hostages are just going to get killed.
23:35Listen, if we were going to save any of them,
23:36we have no other choice.
23:38Maybe we do.
23:39We could use this sick hostage to our advantage.
23:43Instead of sending in a paramedic,
23:44we send in a cop with tactical training.
23:46That cop gets intel for when SWAT goes in to breach the bank.
23:50I'm guessing you have a cop in mind.
24:05Search her.
24:17She's clear.
24:18Make it quick.
24:20How's he doing?
24:29Not good.
24:31His name is Sal Martino.
24:33He has epilepsy.
24:34I think the seizure was brought on by stress.
24:37Hey, Sal.
24:38Hey, buddy.
24:39How you doing?
24:41Sal, listen to me.
24:42I want you to know that there are people out there
24:44that care about you, so just keep breathing.
24:45I promise you, I'm going to get you out of here.
24:50You're cool.
24:53Hey.
24:55Don't talk about it.
24:56Be about it.
24:57And you help get him on that gurney.
25:00Now!
25:01Sal, you ready?
25:02Let me get you off the count.
25:03Three.
25:03One, two, three.
25:05Easy, buddy.
25:05Easy, buddy.
25:06Easy, buddy.
25:07Okay?
25:08Oh.
25:08All right.
25:14All right.
25:20All right.
25:28your dad's okay

25:52Ash my father
25:55can you hear me
25:56no you can't call me later
25:58Ash I can't hear
26:00there's C4 in the bank
26:04I didn't see Andy but if Castle says it's in there
26:07it's in there
26:07that means the breach is out of the question
26:09I'm not going to send my boys into a bomb fight
26:10we're going to have to take these guys out on the bus
26:13that bus is still 20 minutes out
26:15his deadline's in 5
26:16he's going to start killing hostages
26:18we have to buy more time
26:20where's my bus
26:24the bus is on its way
26:26it'll be there in 20 minutes
26:27the hostages will be dead too
26:29no nobody needs to die
26:31okay it's coming
26:33it's just it's stuck in traffic
26:34we have rules Kate
26:36I said I wouldn't kill anyone
26:37you said you'd get me a bus
26:38I lived up to my end of the deal
26:39and I'm going to live up to mine
26:41it just
26:41I warned you not to jerk me around
26:43I was clear about the consequences
26:45do I have to prove how serious I am
26:46is that it
26:47okay I think we both just need to take a deep breath
26:49and we can talk about
26:50I'm done talking
26:51what was that
26:54a warning shot Kate
26:56the next one's for the kill
26:58don't you touch him
26:59you son of a bitch
27:00hold her back
27:01keep that hand
27:01I'm going to make pretty red stains out of your boyfriend Kate
27:05I got my gun to his throat
27:06and I'm going to paint a Jackson Pollock with his insides
27:08you need to calm down
27:09listen to me jackass
27:10I do not control traffic
27:11so you're going to have to give me 20 minutes
27:13now you've got one minute Kate
27:14no
27:14I've got 20
27:17do you hear me
27:1920
27:20because if you pull that trigger
27:23I will walk through those doors
27:25and personally put a bullet through your skull
27:27okay Kate
27:39you got 20 more minutes
27:41well that's one way to negotiate
27:44your girlfriend is a hellcat
27:48yeah well she's not my girlfriend
27:51is she too much woman for you?
27:53yeah
27:54so why are you guys robbing this bank?
27:58Sutton's law
27:58when asked why he robbed banks
28:00Willie Sutton famously replied
28:02because that's where the money is
28:03except Willie Sutton never said that
28:10it was a reporter
28:12who made up that quote
28:13you see writers
28:13were really good at
28:15altering reality to fit the narrative
28:17and the story I see you guys spitting here
28:20it's really not about stealing money
28:22what's that so?
28:24you and your crew don't wear gloves
28:26obviously
28:27you're not worried about fingerprints
28:29which means you're not in the system
28:30and those accents
28:31you're marks
28:33which means you're too smart to get on that bus
28:36so
28:37what was in that box
28:38why the C4
28:40and what are you really
28:41gonna do with us?
28:46oh I like you
28:47that's why I'm gonna kill you last
28:49Rapper John

28:56all right
28:59everybody on your feet
29:00let's go
29:01up up up up
29:01what are you gonna do?
29:05you're clever
29:05sure you'll figure it out
29:08we still got 18 minutes
29:14I want everybody in position
29:15SWAT can rendezvous with the bus here
29:17on 49th
29:18they can load there
29:18I want snipers here
29:20here and here
29:20get Roman on the horn
29:22why didn't they ask me for something?
29:24what?
29:26sir
29:27he gave me 20 minutes
29:29and he didn't ask for anything in return
29:31if he wanted to maintain control
29:33he would have asked for something
29:35I mean this is all way too easy
29:37take the win detective
29:38no sir
29:39something is going on
29:40we're just not asking the right questions
29:42I mean
29:42why would he bring C4
29:44to a bank robbery?
29:45what does Agnes Field murder
29:46have to do with any of this?
29:49captain
29:49I've got Sergeant Roman
29:50yeah Roman
29:53mother
30:00I find him no longer satisfied
30:03with the customer service
30:04at this establishment
30:04I think we should take
30:05our business elsewhere
30:06I'm so sorry
30:09forgive me for dragging him
30:11into this
30:11it's okay
30:11it's okay
30:12I love you mother
30:15I've got you kiddo
30:18did you find anything on Agnes?
30:21we've gone over phone and financials
30:23and talked to friends and neighbors
30:24nothing sticks out
30:25what about Agnes' safety deposit box?
30:28somebody was pretending to be her dead husband
30:30and accessed it monthly
30:32any leads?
30:33nothing so far
30:34relatives?
30:35uh
30:35Agnes really didn't have any relatives left
30:37her husband's dead
30:39her daughter and grandson
30:40died in a boating accident
30:42over a year ago
30:42only surviving relative
30:43is a former son-in-law
30:44Ron Brandt
30:45we left a message
30:46we haven't heard back yet
30:46look
30:47we don't have time
30:48to wait for a return phone call
30:50so find
30:50castle
31:16castle
31:19castle
31:21castle
31:21thank you
31:22they're here
31:31I told you
31:33huh?
31:34oh my god
31:35here we go
31:42ready?
31:43okay
31:43how are you?
31:46he's not the only one here
31:51you know
31:52I'm so
31:55I'm so sorry
31:58Martha
31:58excuse me
32:00how you doing?
32:01all right
32:02you're getting
32:02curious
32:03nobody accounted for
32:05we're all here
32:06we're all okay
32:07sir what happened to the robbers?
32:08they're dead
32:09they blew themselves up
32:10what?
32:11apparently the C4 was part of the exit strategy
32:14they blasted a hole straight through the bottom of the vault
32:17and opened a ceiling on an abandoned subway station below
32:19smart plan if they didn't screw it up
32:21they must have triggered the explosion before they took cover and they killed themselves
32:25oh
32:26it's not possible
32:27it's not possible
32:27C4 it's a very stable explosive
32:29it wouldn't go off accidentally
32:30and these guys were not
32:31time store bandits
32:33they were trained
32:33they were military precision
32:34they wouldn't set off an explosion prematurely
32:36really?
32:38I got an assortment of body parts
32:39that tells me they did
32:40let's get out of here
33:10is everybody okay?
33:33yeah
33:33they're fine
33:34they just need a minute
33:35we heard all the suspects are dead
33:36you guys
33:38none of this makes any sense
33:39an old lady is killed for a safe deposit box key
33:41which her dead husband accesses every month
33:43and then this
33:44there's something that we're missing
33:46what were you saying about Agnes Field's last surviving relative?
33:51former son-in-law
33:51Ron Brandt
33:53left a message
33:53but he does a lot of business overseas
33:55he may not even be in the country
33:56he's listed at a penthouse on the Upper East Side
33:59so we can go check out
34:00wait that's
34:00that's the son-in-law
34:02yeah
34:02why?
34:03this was one of the hostages
34:05he was having a seizure and
34:06oh god
34:09this is Detective Kate Beckett NYPD
34:14I'm checking in on a patient
34:16that came in from a bank robbery
34:17his name is Sal Martino
34:18what?
34:23he did?
34:26he checked himself out against medical advice
34:29he's gone
34:29it was him
34:30he orchestrated this whole thing
34:32it turns out Ron Brandt runs a company that supplies military contractors with special operational forces from around the world
34:38okay so he uses his military connections to hire that team of mercenaries in the bank
34:43and to avoid loose ends
34:44Ron rigged the C4 to blow early
34:46talk about cold-blooded
34:47and he did all of this just for the contents of Agnes' safety deposit box?
34:51Kessel, you said that there were photos and letters in there, right?
34:54yeah
34:54Trapper John must have given them to Ron when he was being escorted back from the restroom
34:58because right after that he faked a seashore and was let go
35:00but why?
35:01I mean, what was so special about his former mother-in-law's safety deposit box?
35:05former mother-in-law?
35:06yeah
35:06Ron was married to Agnes' daughter, Tanya
35:09both her and his son, Connor, were killed in a boating accident about a year ago
35:12no, no, Ron spoke about Connor
35:14and he did not speak about him like he was dead
35:16Connor is still alive
35:17I don't know what to tell you, Kessel says right here, Connor's dead
35:19I'm not so sure about that
35:21it turns out that neither his wife, Tanya, nor Connor's body was ever recovered
35:24why would the wife fake their deaths?
35:26domestic abuse
35:27however, Ron had the connections and the wealth to avoid prosecution
35:31so the system failed her
35:33she and Connor couldn't escape Ron's abuse
35:36so she faked their deaths and disappeared
35:37yeah, but to disappear she had to walk away from her former life
35:40so her ties was everything and everyone she ever knew
35:42except she couldn't, especially with her mom, Agnes
35:44which is what the safety deposit box was for
35:47it's a means of communication
35:48it's like a Cold War drop box in some John Le Carre novel
35:52only Tanya wouldn't be able to risk making the drops
35:55so who would make the drops for her?
35:57our mystery man who was posing as Agnes' dead husband
36:01he was Tanya's middle man
36:02okay, so Tanya sends the photos and the letters to the middle man
36:05the middle man puts them in the safety deposit box for Agnes
36:08the box serves as a mailbox
36:09only it's better than a mailbox because it's locked up inside a bank
36:12Ron must have suspected that they faked their deaths
36:14and that's when he bugged Agnes' home
36:16and when Ron found out about the box, he killed Agnes for the key
36:18right, and with the clock ticking
36:20he hired that crew to stage the bank robbery to get to the box with that key
36:23you know those photos and letters will say exactly where his wife and son are hiding
36:26he's on his way there now, and we know what he's gonna do once he gets there
36:30he's gonna kidnap his son and kill his wife
36:32identifying the middle man is the only way we're gonna be able to find Tanya and Connor
36:43so what do we know?
36:44he passed for Agnes' late husband
36:46and it'd have to be someone that Ron wouldn't suspect
36:49that rules out friends, neighbors, and co-workers
36:51but it was probably a person that they trusted
36:52middle man could have been paid
36:54maybe we can track their payments
36:55you know they were probably smart enough to pay in cash
36:58which is untraceable
37:00unless if paying by check wouldn't have thrown up any red flags
37:03in a time of Connor and Tanya's supposed deaths
37:07she was making monthly tithe checks to St. Abigail's Church
37:10and who better fits this profile than a priest?
37:12and I know which one we should speak to first
37:14the priest who officiated their funeral
37:17Father Sean McCaskey
37:19Father McCaskey, I'm Detective Kate Beckett
37:22this is Richard Castle
37:23we need to know where Tanya and Connor Brandt are hiding
37:25I don't know what you're talking about
37:27Tanya and Connor have been dead for over a year
37:31Father, you don't understand
37:33Agnes Fields has been murdered
37:34Ron Brandt has the contents of a safe deposit box
37:37he's on his way to them now
37:38what?
37:40how could this happen?
37:42that box was there to protect them
37:45it didn't, Father, but we can
37:47we need to know their address
37:48of course
37:4914 Cascadillo Street, Ithaca
37:52Ithaca, that's only four hours away
37:54Ron could already be there by now
37:55thanks
37:56yes
37:56honey
38:03I'm home
38:04stay back
38:11I will kill you
38:13now, Tanya

38:46no, no, no, no
38:46please don't take him
38:48no, no, no, no
38:48please
38:49why would I kill you?
38:57I want you to live a long, long life
38:59with the knowledge that you're never gonna see Connor again
39:02now it's my turn to disappear
39:04but unlike you, I know how to hide
39:06I think real hard about your next move
39:16what?
39:23okay
39:23thanks
39:24they found them
39:28Tanya's gonna need a few stitches
39:30but Connor's okay
39:31come on, let's go pick them up
39:32Ithaca?

39:38as a hostage
