00:00GARGANTUAN TUNNEL BORING MACHINES DOROTHY AND BETTY ARE BACK AT WORK.
00:07They're making way for Sydney's Metro West Line under Parramatta CBD.
00:13But for six weeks, these giants stood idle.
00:17There were concerns about this section of the tunnel,
00:20which passes close to the foundations of this Telstra building on Church Street.
00:25Sydney Metro says it was aware of the problem before work started
00:30and that tunneling under high-rise buildings is a complex business.
00:34It is a normal part of safely and responsibly excavating tunnels
00:38to review design and construction methodologies during the project
00:42to ensure both the tunnel and the nearby properties are protected.
00:46Despite the delay, the Premier insists the project will be delivered on time and on budget.
00:52All of that has been built into the contingency
00:55and we've got a lot of faith in the contractors to get it in on time.
00:59Not everyone is convinced.
01:01The government has to be very transparent on exactly what it's doing.
01:04They need to explain what they did, when they did it, why they did it.
01:07And the government needs to come clean on what the time and cost implications are of this.
01:12The 24-kilometer tunnel running from Westmeet to Sydney CBD is 80% complete,
01:18with Dorothy and Betty grinding around the clock on the final stretch to the end of the line,
01:23just a few kilometers this way.
01:25The $25 billion project is due to be completed in 2032.
01:30Class of lucrative federal genius has developed up 상
01:46and lived through the whole relationship.
01:49The national challenge is almost halfway through and they are becoming completely conflicted.
