Dublin (Ireland), June 24, 2025(ANI): Speaking in Dublin, Ireland, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri reflected on India's past approach to terrorism. He criticised earlier strategies, calling the pre-Modi era a "theatre of the absurd" for responding to terror with talks and short-term retaliation.
He said “We in India, because of the nature of our peaceful society, we always expect that there will be a change of heart among the perpetrators. We allowed that to happen for decades. Whenever anything happened, there was anger, disappointment, but at the end of the day, we allowed a situation to develop where we thought better sense would prevail and after the horrific consequences of people dying, we went back to business and talks... I have previously described the pre-Modi era of dealing with this as the theatre of the absurd... You cannot respond to terror with talks and short-term retaliation..."
