The story follows Zhang Wuji's efforts to rescue the masters of the Six Major Sects who are trapped in the Wanan Pagoda after being poisoned. He also grapples with Zhao Min's attempts to sway him to the Yuan Dynasty's side and the machinations of Zhou Zhiruo, who has mastered the Nine Yin White Bone Claw.
