They might be the lowest ranked team, but Rhian Wilkinson and her Welsh side are hoping to turn a few heads in Switzerland for Euro 2025. They’ve just departed for a warm weather training camp in Portugal, waved off by hundreds of excited Welsh fans; but how far can they make it?

00:03Brianne Wilkinson and her Welsh side are heading on their quest for European glory
00:08in their first ever major tournament
00:10and hundreds of fans came to see them off and wish them well
00:13Cardiff Airport was bustling with young football fans on Sunday
00:17all hoping to get a glimpse of their favourite stars
00:19with players and manager all signing autographs and taking pictures
00:23as they departed for Portugal for a week or so's warm weather training camp
00:26before they fly out to Switzerland for their first game of the tournament
00:29in Luzerne against the Netherlands
00:31Wales are the lowest ranked team at Euro 2025
00:34and that won't be helped in the slightest by their so-called group of death
00:38with world number 10 France, world number 11 ranked Netherlands
00:42and reigning Euro winners and old foes England
00:45all in group D with us
00:47While plenty of fans will say that just making the tournament itself
00:51is enough of an achievement
00:52the players and manager have their sights set higher
00:55and want to go out there and compete against the best in the world
00:58and hopefully make it into the knockouts
01:00from there who knows what could happen next
01:03The squad is brimming with experience with four players of over 100 caps
01:08including the icon Jess Fishlock
01:10and Harrod James, Hayley Ladd and Sophie Ingle
01:12who hasn't played a minute of football this season through injury
01:15but is reaching fitness and could feature heavily
01:17The tournament is almost a free hit for Wales
01:20there's no expectation to go too far
01:22but plenty of opportunities to surprise
01:25and if they make it to the semis
01:26pubs will be able to stay open later
01:28so there's an extra incentive back home
01:30All of Wales will be behind the team
01:33and all of Wales will be hoping for more Welsh magic on the European stage
01:37because we all know what happens when an underrated Welsh side
01:40get their chance at glory
