00:00Hey, MirPad, are you ready to make this video?
00:03Yes.
00:13Welcome back to another TechConnect.
00:15As you can see, Luke is back.
00:18Yay for Luke!
00:20It's not just me.
00:21So that means it's going to be a great video.
00:23Not only is it going to be a great video because Luke's here,
00:26but we're also looking at a brand new product that I think is actually quite cool.
00:30It is the MirPad.
00:32Hang with us and let's check out why I think this is the cat's meow.
00:39All right, Luke, we have done devices with similar feature sets before, right?
00:44Near, magnification, distance, all that good stuff.
00:47Yeah.
00:48But I think the MirPad, well, I don't think, the MirPad is super unique,
00:52not only in its design,
00:53but I think some of the features you're going to highlight today as well.
00:56Yeah, the design is basically like having a television on a little stand.
01:00It's super lightweight and it's very compact and it's easy to carry around with you.
01:06Now, it doesn't have a carry handle, which is a little bit strange
01:09because I think a carry handle will be really nice for it.
01:11But other than that, it's a very unique design,
01:14as I'm sure you are seeing in the B-roll right now, if Jonathan has done his job.
01:17And we're basically talking a little stand and then a neck and then the screen
01:22and there is a distance camera to the right side.
01:25And, Corey, here's an interesting little design feature.
01:27There is a suction cup on the back, which you don't have to have on,
01:32but the suction cup, the idea is it suctions it to the table that you're on
01:36so that it doesn't accidentally tip forward.
01:38Sure, and it's not permanent then, so it allows you to quickly move it around.
01:42Do you recall the size of the screen on this device?
01:46It's 16 inches.
01:48Yeah, so comparing to other sort of luggables or portables,
01:52it's a larger screen, but I think, I don't know, the way the design is,
01:56it doesn't appear to be like a big device.
02:00No, not at all. No, it's very, very compact.
02:02Now, those of you who've seen the Cloverbook Pro video that we did in the past,
02:05this is very similar in terms of the feature set,
02:08although it does have a couple of its own things going on as well.
02:12So, just a quick review of the controls.
02:14The controls are on the base,
02:16and we have a number of tactile controls that we can use.
02:19As Corey said, we have close-up magnification,
02:22we have distance magnification,
02:24we have OCR, including full-page OCR,
02:27and the screen has the ability to rotate,
02:30which is really kind of cool,
02:31so we can do either portrait or landscape view.
02:34And, in addition, we can also use the touchscreen
02:38to operate some touchscreen controls,
02:41and, and here's where it gets clever, Corey,
02:43we can control our Android phone by connecting it to the device,
02:48and then, basically, the device's 16-inch screen
02:51will become your Android phone,
02:52and you'll be able to use the device's touchscreen
02:55to control your Android phone.
02:56Now, if you have an Apple phone like Corey over here,
02:59if you're one of those paupers
03:01who is still using Apple for some strange reason,
03:04Yeah, I'd like you to empty your pockets right now,
03:06because I'm pretty sure you have an iPhone in your pocket as well.
03:08Must do.
03:09But you can still connect your iPhone to this device,
03:13but you won't be able to control your iPhone
03:15from the mirror pad's screen.
03:17And if I'm not mistaken,
03:19so that is its true purpose, right,
03:20is to plug in a cell phone,
03:22and, like you said, from an Android,
03:23be able to control it,
03:24but it really is just an HDMI input,
03:26so you could plug in a Amazon Fire TV
03:31or anything you'd want
03:33and be able to get it on this display, too.
03:36Yeah, I know a lot of people benefit
03:38from sitting close to a smaller television
03:40rather than sitting far away from a larger one,
03:43and so you could really have this on a table
03:44directly in front of you,
03:46plug in your Fire Stick or your Roku
03:48or whatever you might be using,
03:49and actually use the mirror pad as your television.
03:52So, a lot of potential great uses, Corey.
03:54Yes.
03:55I would love, though, for you to show me
03:57how to do near magnification.
04:00That's unfortunate,
04:01because I would love for you to show me,
04:03but since you asked first,
04:04I guess I will give it a try.
04:06So, let's go ahead and jump in
04:07and check out how near magnification works.
04:12All right, so the bread and butter
04:14of any electronic magnifier is, Corey?
04:17Its ability to fold up
04:19and put it away when you're not using it.
04:21That is not true.
04:22Oh, the bread and butter feature
04:24is magnification, of course,
04:25and we're going to start
04:26with close-up magnification.
04:28Now, the camera is located on the right side,
04:30so we do have a distance camera,
04:32which is kind of a tubular affair
04:34that's connected to the right side of the screen,
04:36and underneath, on the underside of that camera,
04:40is a camera that faces downward
04:41for our near distance,
04:43and so we would be placing our documents
04:45kind of to the right side of the device,
04:47and we would be then seeing them on the screen,
04:51and we would be able to move
04:52the document left and right.
04:53Now, what they've done is they have a base
04:55which kind of tapers toward the table,
04:58and so you can slide your documents
05:01kind of over the base
05:02as you're moving it around to read it.
05:05So, pretty good design there.
05:07We have magnification controls on the left side.
05:09The bottom left control will allow us to zoom in.
05:12We can rotate that control to zoom in,
05:15and the picture remains nice and sharp
05:17because, of course, it is high definition
05:19because this is 2025 and not 1995.
05:22So, we can zoom in and out,
05:23good range of magnification.
05:25Just above the magnification control,
05:26we have our color selection,
05:28and we can rotate the dial
05:30to flip between our favorite color modes.
05:32Now, you can actually set custom color modes
05:34in the settings,
05:35and so you can set up whatever colors
05:37you want to be available
05:38when you press that button.
05:40If we press in the middle of the color button,
05:43that is going to freeze the image,
05:44and so now, even if I take my document away,
05:47the image is still on the screen,
05:49so we've essentially taken a picture.
05:51Now, this one hasn't saved
05:52because I just pressed in the middle,
05:54but if I had held in the middle
05:56of that color button,
05:57it would have saved the image,
05:58and so we do have internal memory,
06:00but we can also save to an external device as well,
06:02whether that be an SD card or a USB drive.
06:05In this case, I didn't save the image,
06:07and if I just press in the middle
06:08of the color button again,
06:09it's going to take me back
06:10to my live view once again.
06:13Now, one of the really cool features
06:15of this device is live panning.
06:18Quick quiz, Corey.
06:19Yes.
06:19Did we or did we not have access
06:21to live panning with the Cloverbook Pro?
06:24Well, I don't believe I was there
06:26when you made the Cloverbook Pro video.
06:28I know that you've watched it religiously
06:29since it was published.
06:30I did watch it last night,
06:31but I keep falling asleep
06:33within about 20 seconds.
06:34But yes, we did not have access
06:38sometimes to live panning.
06:41I would.
06:43Corey was hedging his bets there.
06:44Let's take a look at this joystick
06:46because we can do live panning
06:47with the Cloverbook Pro.
06:49We can't pan the entire width of a document,
06:52so it is a fairly limited range
06:53of movement there,
06:55but it does help us.
06:56We don't have to move the document
06:58perhaps as much as we would do otherwise.
06:59We did have access to live panning
07:01with the Cloverbook Pro.
07:02Exactly.
07:03You have passed the test.
07:04Way to go, Luke.
07:05Good job.
07:06So we also have access
07:08to live panning here.
07:09And if you are a keen fan of the channel,
07:12which hopefully you are,
07:13you will have seen the Explore 12 video,
07:15which I did recently.
07:16Corey was not there
07:17because he apparently
07:19isn't able to attend videos anymore.
07:21I was at a funeral.
07:22Thank you very much.
07:23Wow.
07:23Okay.
07:24I take it back.
07:25But the Explore 12
07:26also had this live panning feature.
07:28So the general idea
07:29is we zoom in on a document
07:31and we are in the live mode.
07:32So you were looking
07:33at a live image from the camera.
07:35However, even in the live mode,
07:36we can pan the image
07:37left, right, up, and down
07:39without having to move
07:40the document physically.
07:41And so in the case
07:42of the MirrorPad Pro here,
07:44we have a joystick,
07:45which is a orange circular thing
07:48in the center
07:49of the controls on the base.
07:50And we can move that
07:51to the left and to the right
07:53and up and down.
07:55And that will allow us
07:56to pan around
07:56without moving the document.
07:57So potentially we could
07:58read a page of text
07:59without having to physically
08:01move the page
08:02even when we are zoomed in.
08:04So a really nice feature.
08:05It works seamlessly
08:06and we will get kind of
08:08an indicator when we reach
08:09the extent of the panning
08:11on either side.
08:12So we know that we can't pan
08:13anymore in that direction.
08:15So I'm a big fan of that feature.
08:17It's very cool indeed.
08:18And yeah,
08:20that's really the basics.
08:21Now we do have access
08:23to a few more controls
08:24and I will just take
08:26a look at those quickly.
08:27So there is a home button
08:29on the base here,
08:30which will bring up
08:31some basic controls
08:32which have to be operated
08:33with the touch screen.
08:34So they're displayed
08:34at the top of the screen.
08:36And so from left to right here,
08:38we have the ability
08:39to turn on and off
08:40the device's own LED lighting.
08:42So if we're looking
08:43at a self-lighted object
08:44such as a smartphone
08:45or a tablet,
08:46we can turn off
08:47the LED lights of the device
08:48because we won't need those.
08:50We can adjust screen brightness.
08:52And so we have a good range
08:54of screen brightness
08:55that we can adjust in between
08:56to set the screen
08:58exactly how we'd like it.
08:59We also have a battery indicator
09:01and that gives me
09:02a good prompt to mention
09:03that this does have
09:04a built-in internal battery
09:05and so you do not have
09:06to be connected to power
09:07in order to use this device.
09:08We also have contrast adjustment,
09:11which is especially useful
09:12if you are looking
09:13into the distance
09:14at an electronic screen
09:16as we will see
09:16in the next section.
09:17A bit of foreshadowing there, Corey.
09:19Oh, a little bit.
09:19In the next section, yep.
09:20And then our final control here
09:23is for the color saturation.
09:25So if the colors
09:26are not quite looking,
09:27you know, right,
09:27they're too washed out
09:28or they're too bright,
09:29we can adjust saturation.
09:31So easy access
09:32to some really nice,
09:33you know, features there
09:34to make sure
09:35we can get the image
09:36exactly how we want it.
09:38Now, there is some more
09:40cool features to look at here
09:42and I think it's about time
09:43that we did that.
09:44But before we do,
09:45I believe that Corey
09:46has a presentation
09:47that he would like to give me
09:49apparently on how to make
09:50some good YouTube videos.
09:52Yes, I do think
09:53you'd benefit from that.
09:54There you go.
09:54So let's go ahead
09:56and check out the presentation
09:57and see if it's worth anything.
10:02Welcome to the first annual
10:04How to Make an Amazing
10:05YouTube Video Seminar.
10:08Probably will actually be
10:09the only one we did
10:10because Luke,
10:11you are our only attendee.
10:13Hello.
10:14By the way,
10:14I was forced to come.
10:16But you weren't
10:18in our last video
10:19and did Jonathan and I,
10:21we figured out everything
10:23that we need to do
10:24to make a great video.
10:25So I want you to enjoy
10:27our last video
10:28on smart thermostats.
10:30I'm not sure
10:30this presentation
10:31is going to be super useful.
10:33But anyway,
10:33we're stuck here
10:34and luckily,
10:35I have my mirror pad with me
10:37and the mirror pad
10:37can do distance viewing.
10:39So I'm going to be able
10:39to zoom in on the presentation
10:41and even zoom in
10:42on Corey's face
10:43if I really want to.
10:44Now, this is achieved
10:45using the distance camera
10:47to the right side
10:48of the device
10:48and this camera
10:49is the same as the one
10:50on the CloverBook Pro.
10:51So if you haven't seen
10:52that video,
10:53then go check it out.
10:54But it's the same
10:56in terms of its articulations.
10:57We can rotate it
10:59at the top
11:00to get some left
11:01to right movement.
11:02We can tilt it
11:03to the left
11:04and the right
11:05to get some angle
11:06and we can also
11:07tilt it backwards
11:08and forwards
11:09so we can look up
11:11and down with the camera.
11:12So with these
11:12different articulations,
11:13we can really position it
11:14exactly where we want.
11:16Corey, where should I be
11:17focusing in
11:18for this presentation?
11:19So Corey is very usefully
11:20pointing to the screen.
11:21I'm going to use
11:22my magnification control
11:23and we will zoom up here
11:25and see what we can see.
11:27All right.
11:29Let's start the video.
11:31Play.
11:35That's amazing voice technology
11:36you've got going on there.
11:39Okay.
11:40So apparently
11:40this is how to make
11:42the perfect YouTube video
11:43and here we see
11:45this video
11:46which was released
11:46a few weeks ago
11:47and it looks pretty good.
11:49Now,
11:50if the colors
11:51weren't looking quite right,
11:52we do have some adjustment
11:54in terms of the contrast
11:55and if we are looking
11:56at a video screen
11:57like this
11:58and we might need
11:58to play about with those.
12:00So by pressing
12:00the home control
12:02which is second in
12:03from the right side,
12:05we can bring up
12:05some options
12:06and the fourth option
12:08along is for the contrast.
12:09If I hit that,
12:10it will allow me
12:11to adjust the contrast
12:12and that will change
12:13the colors
12:13on what I'm looking at here.
12:15So we can go ahead
12:16and use the touch screen
12:18to change the slider
12:19to get the colors
12:20looking as good
12:21as they are able to.
12:23And there we go.
12:24We have got that set
12:25and it's looking very nice.
12:26However,
12:27I just realized,
12:28Corey,
12:28this is a very important
12:30presentation
12:30and of course,
12:32I need to take notes
12:33because, you know,
12:34if I can't take notes,
12:35how am I going to remember
12:36all this information
12:37that Corey is just
12:38throwing down
12:39and expecting me
12:40to pick up like this?
12:41So luckily,
12:42we can go into
12:42a split screen mode
12:43and that will facilitate
12:45me being able
12:46to take notes.
12:47If I press the button
12:48to the far right again,
12:49that will put me
12:50into the split screen mode.
12:51And now,
12:52on the left side
12:53of the screen,
12:53I have the distance camera view
12:55but on the right side
12:56of the screen,
12:57I have the close-up view
12:58and now,
12:59once I get my pen,
13:00I'm going to be able
13:01to make some notes
13:02here on the right side
13:03and I can even adjust
13:04magnification independently
13:06for these two sides
13:07and so,
13:08the side which is
13:09currently focused
13:10will have an orange
13:11square around it.
13:12So at the moment,
13:13that would be
13:13the distance camera.
13:14If I use my magnification control,
13:16it's going to allow me
13:17to zoom out
13:17and zoom in on that side
13:19but if I want to zoom out
13:20and zoom in
13:21on the close-up side,
13:23I can just tap
13:24on the right side
13:24of the screen
13:25which is showing me
13:26the close-up camera view
13:27and now,
13:28I can rotate
13:28that magnification control
13:29and I can go ahead
13:31and set that to the level
13:32that I need for writing.
13:33We can even change colors
13:35independently per side
13:36and so,
13:36if I want to the right side
13:37a different color scheme
13:39to the left side,
13:40I can do that as well
13:41and it's the same
13:42with the other settings
13:43that we have as well.
13:44So,
13:44we're able to do those
13:45independently per side.
13:47Extremely neat feature.
13:48I like it a lot.
13:49It's very useful
13:50and with the larger screen
13:51of the mirror pad
13:53compared to the Cloverbook,
13:55that's even more practical
13:56for doing a split screen
13:58like this.
13:59Now,
13:59there is one more thing
14:00that I'd like to highlight
14:01with this
14:01which is kind of cool
14:02and that would be
14:03rotating the screen.
14:05So,
14:05I'm going to grab the screen
14:06and we're going to rotate it here.
14:07This would now be
14:08in portrait mode
14:09and with the portrait mode
14:11of the screen,
14:12I am still seeing
14:13at the moment
14:13because we're in
14:14the split screen view,
14:15I'm still seeing
14:15the two views,
14:17the distance camera.
14:19Give us a wave,
14:19Corey there,
14:20thank you.
14:21There he is,
14:21the man,
14:22the legend.
14:23And on the bottom,
14:24I have the close-up.
14:25So,
14:25now,
14:25rather than these being
14:26side-by-side
14:27like they were before,
14:28they are top and bottom
14:30and I can still go ahead
14:31and tap on the top
14:32and the bottom
14:33as required
14:34to change the settings
14:36for the close-up
14:37or the distance.
14:38Now,
14:38we can do OCR
14:39in the distance as well
14:41and we'll be looking
14:42at how to do OCR
14:43in a little bit further
14:44along in the video.
14:45But just bear in mind
14:45that you are able
14:46to select the distance camera
14:48and do optical character recognition
14:50and have any text
14:52which is in the distance
14:52read aloud to you.
14:54So,
14:54all in all,
14:55it's a really solid feature set
14:57for distance magnification.
14:59Stop!
15:02And so,
15:03we have seen
15:04that we can do
15:05distance view
15:06with the camera
15:06on the right side
15:07of the device,
15:08but we can also do
15:09self-view
15:09because the camera
15:10will rotate enough
15:11for us to be able
15:12to point it
15:12at our own noggins.
15:14And so,
15:15I'm going to go ahead
15:15and rotate the camera
15:16to point toward me
15:17and use the view
15:19switching button
15:20on the base here.
15:21And now,
15:22when it goes
15:22into the view
15:24from the camera,
15:25it's going to be
15:26in the self-view now.
15:27So,
15:27it's looking directly
15:28at me.
15:29It knows
15:29it's not trying
15:30to look into
15:30the far distance.
15:31Instead,
15:32it's looking
15:32at something closer
15:33in front of it.
15:34I have to say,
15:34looking at myself
15:35up close like this
15:36is kind of scary.
15:37So,
15:37let's try and not
15:38look at this
15:39for too long.
15:39Now,
15:40at the moment,
15:40it looks a little bit
15:41on the dark side.
15:42So,
15:42I'm going to go ahead
15:43and open up the settings
15:44by pressing the home button.
15:46And I'm going to adjust
15:47the contrast here.
15:48And that's really
15:49brightening things up
15:50and it looks
15:51a little bit nicer.
15:52Now,
15:52we can adjust
15:52the magnification level
15:54as well.
15:55We can freeze the image
15:57as we've seen,
15:58you know,
15:58in the reading mode.
15:59I caught myself
15:59in a great pose there.
16:02And with the image frozen,
16:03we could,
16:04you know,
16:04magnify that image
16:05and then pan around
16:06the image
16:07and so on and so forth.
16:08We could save it
16:09if we wanted to.
16:10And all of those
16:11good things
16:12that we can do.
16:13So,
16:14yeah,
16:14really nice
16:15and quality
16:15of the camera
16:16is decent.
16:17And,
16:18you know,
16:18if we need to check
16:19that we have shaved properly
16:20or done our makeup
16:21or whatever it might be,
16:22then this is going to be
16:23a nice way of doing that.
16:26Luke,
16:27one of my favorite features
16:28in any device,
16:29doesn't matter what it is,
16:31even in my toaster at home,
16:32is OCR,
16:34optical character recognition.
16:36Please tell,
16:36well,
16:37you did tell me
16:37in the distance section
16:38that there was OCR,
16:40but please show me
16:40how to use it.
16:41Quick question,
16:42though.
16:42How does the OCR
16:43on the toaster work?
16:44I put it in
16:45and it says,
16:45your toast appears
16:46to be brown.
16:47Pop out your toast now.
16:49That's actually
16:49kind of handy.
16:50Yeah.
16:50I like it.
16:51You can set it
16:52for different levels
16:52of brownness.
16:53Yeah,
16:53actually,
16:54a toaster does that already,
16:55but continue.
16:58Anyway,
16:58so we do have OCR.
17:00Now we have OCR
17:01for kind of whatever's
17:03on the screen currently
17:04and we also have
17:04the full page OCR option
17:06as well.
17:06We'll start off
17:07with the standard,
17:08just whatever is
17:08on the screen OCR.
17:10And so in order to do this,
17:11we actually press
17:12the power button
17:13just once.
17:13You don't want
17:14to hold it down
17:14because that will
17:15turn the device off,
17:16which I found out myself.
17:18So we'll just press
17:19the power button
17:19and it will bring up
17:21some on-screen buttons.
17:22I'm going to press
17:23the letter T
17:23in a speech bubble
17:24on the screen
17:25and that will take
17:25a picture of the text
17:27which the near camera
17:28is looking at.
17:30And now it's
17:30reading it to us.
17:35And I'll go ahead
17:36and pause it right there.
17:38So the OCR,
17:39I mean,
17:40it kind of does
17:40what you expect,
17:41but there is a couple
17:42of neat features.
17:43So by default,
17:44we will be looking
17:45at the picture
17:45that we took
17:46and it will be
17:47highlighting the area
17:49that it's currently reading.
17:50So that is kind of nice.
17:52However,
17:53if we want to see
17:54the words that it's reading
17:55in a high contrast
17:56computer font,
17:57we can go ahead
17:58and press the home button
17:59on the base of the device
18:00to bring up the controls again.
18:01And I'm going to hit
18:02the letter P
18:03on the screen
18:04and that will flip me
18:05into this high contrast
18:07computer font.
18:08So as it's reading now,
18:10it's going to be
18:14displaying the words
18:16in a high contrast font
18:17on the screen.
18:21And I'll go ahead
18:22and stop it there.
18:24So that's pretty neat.
18:25It's a nice way
18:26for us to see the words.
18:27Now, of course,
18:27we can increase
18:28the size of those words
18:29using the magnification controls
18:31and we can change
18:33the color of those words
18:34as well
18:34using our color
18:36switching controls.
18:37So all the stuff
18:38that you would really
18:39expect there.
18:40I'm going to go ahead
18:41and flip back
18:42to the image
18:43of the actual document
18:44and I want to show you
18:45this segmenting mode
18:47or the segmenting feature
18:49which will basically
18:50split the text up
18:52into segments
18:53and we can then
18:54navigate those segments
18:55using the touch screen.
18:56So in this case,
18:57it's kind of brought up
18:59these different segments
18:59on the screen
19:00which are represented
19:01by these boxes
19:02and this will allow me
19:03to jump around the page
19:04reading different areas
19:06of the page
19:06just by touching
19:07on the segment
19:08that I want to read.
19:09So for example,
19:10if I want to read
19:10the second segment here,
19:13I can go ahead
19:13and bring up the controls
19:15and press the forward button
19:17and that will flip me
19:19to the second segment.
19:21I'll hit play
19:21to read that.
19:22Open, setting, specification.
19:24And now I'm going to flip
19:25back to the previous segment
19:26by using the back button
19:28on the screen.
19:28Precaution.
19:30Quick start.
19:31Basic operation.
19:33Image operation.
19:35And I'll stop it there.
19:35So if your page is split up
19:37into different areas,
19:38let's say you're reading
19:38a magazine page
19:39and there are various
19:40different areas represented
19:41on the page,
19:42different areas of text,
19:44then you can flip
19:44in between those different areas
19:46and just listen to
19:47the particular area of text
19:48that you're interested in.
19:49Very nice feature.
19:50I like it.
19:51It makes it very convenient
19:52for reading.
19:53However, if you don't want that,
19:54you can go ahead
19:55and turn it off
19:55by pressing the button
19:56on the far right
19:57of the screen
19:58which will turn off
19:59the segmentation
20:00and now it's just going
20:01to kind of look
20:01like a regular document
20:03without those segments.
20:05Now we do have controls
20:06for voice speed
20:07that is represented
20:08by a slider
20:09on the screen.
20:10Operation.
20:11Display switching.
20:12OCRTTS.
20:13Optional.
20:13Screen mirror.
20:14Open.
20:14And so on and so forth.
20:15And we have volume controls
20:17to the right of the screen.
20:19So that's basically it.
20:20But before we end
20:21this segment,
20:21let's take a look
20:22at how to do
20:22a full page
20:23at the moment
20:24that was just
20:24whatever the camera
20:25was seeing at the time
20:27but we can do
20:28a full 8.5 by 11.
20:30So in order to do that
20:31I'm going to go ahead
20:31and get out of here.
20:33I will bring up
20:33the controls
20:34and hit the back button
20:35on the left side.
20:36And it's a bit weird
20:38to go into the full page.
20:39So what we have to do,
20:41we have to go
20:41into the device's menu.
20:43We do that
20:44by holding down
20:44the home button.
20:45That's going to bring up
20:46a menu on the screen.
20:48And on the bottom left
20:50of that menu
20:50we have something
20:51that says A4 full page.
20:53This is what we need
20:54to press to go
20:55into our full page OCR mode.
20:56So I'm going to go ahead
20:57and hit that.
21:00And now we are seeing
21:01an 8.5 by 11 area
21:03on the screen
21:04and we can position
21:05our document
21:06within that 8.5 by 11 area
21:09or A4
21:09as we would call that
21:10in England.
21:11And once we have
21:12our document positioned
21:13then it's going to be
21:14the same thing.
21:15We can press
21:16the power button
21:17to bring up
21:18the controls
21:19for text to speech.
21:20We can hit
21:21the text to speech button.
21:22It's going to take
21:22a picture of the document
21:23and now it's captured
21:25the entire
21:268.5 by 11
21:27and now we can have
21:28the entire document
21:30read aloud to us.
21:31So very nice.
21:32If you want full page
21:33it's not too much
21:34of a hassle to do that
21:35and the quality
21:36of the OCR
21:37seems to be decent.
21:39Corey,
21:39are you satisfied?
21:40I am.
21:40It's much better
21:41than my toaster.
21:42Yeah?
21:42Oh, poor toaster.
21:44Hey, Mr. Mirror Pack,
21:45can you make toast?
21:47Ha!
21:47Didn't think so.
21:48So with the
21:52close-up reading
21:53we've already seen
21:54that it works nicely
21:55when the screen
21:56is horizontal
21:57but one of the features
21:58of the Mirror Pad
21:59is the ability
22:00to rotate the screen
22:01so it's vertical.
22:02So this sounds
22:03kind of cool
22:04in the sense
22:04that if we rotate
22:05the screen
22:06and we're doing
22:06close-up viewing
22:07you would hope
22:08that maybe
22:09the image would rotate
22:11and we would be able
22:12to, for example,
22:13read columns nicely
22:14because we would have
22:15this long screen
22:16now to read
22:17the column on
22:18but it doesn't
22:18quite work like that.
22:19At the moment
22:20I'm in the close-up view
22:21and everything is
22:22as you would expect
22:23but if I rotate
22:24the screen here
22:25then it does not
22:27make the entire image
22:28now fit to the
22:30vertical aspect
22:31of the screen.
22:32In fact,
22:33the image is still
22:34horizontal
22:34and it's just
22:35in this little window
22:36in the middle
22:37of the screen now
22:38and so it doesn't
22:39really benefit us
22:40to rotate the screen
22:41when we're doing
22:42a close-up viewing.
22:43Now, if we switch
22:44to the distance camera
22:46the distance view
22:48actually does fill
22:49the entire screen
22:50whether it is
22:51vertical
22:52or whether it is
22:53horizontal
22:54and we will be
22:55taking a look
22:56at the distance view
22:56a bit more
22:57in the next section
22:58but yeah,
22:59it's just kind of
23:00strange to me
23:00how that doesn't
23:01work for the close-up view
23:02a little bit of a shame
23:04as well
23:04because if it worked
23:05for the close-up view
23:05it would be fantastic
23:06for reading columns
23:08on that kind of
23:09portrait
23:09on that longer
23:11vertical screen
23:12but anyway
23:13this is where
23:14we are right now
23:14so just something
23:15to be aware of
23:16so as we have
23:20mentioned already
23:21one of the unique
23:22features of this device
23:23is the ability
23:23to connect your phone
23:25and see it
23:26on the screen
23:26and if you have
23:28a Android phone
23:29you can actually
23:29manipulate the phone
23:30you can control
23:31the phone
23:32from the screen
23:33of the mirror pad
23:34which is kind of crazy
23:35so the first step
23:36is to download
23:37the mirror play app
23:38which we already
23:39have installed
23:39on this Android device
23:41and then you can
23:41connect your device
23:42to the mirror pad
23:44via an included
23:45USB-C cable
23:47if you have
23:48an iPhone
23:49they actually have
23:50a USB-C to lightning
23:51cable that's also included
23:52so at the moment
23:54I am seeing
23:55the Android phone
23:56displayed on the screen
23:58of the mirror pad
23:59but it's just kind of
24:01in the middle
24:01of the screen
24:02the mirror pad screen
24:03at the moment
24:04is in its horizontal formation
24:05and so the phone screen
24:07isn't particularly large
24:08however
24:08this is where
24:10rotating the mirror pad
24:11screen really comes in useful
24:12I am going to go ahead
24:13and rotate
24:14and now my phone screen
24:16is taking up
24:17the entirety
24:18of this 16 inch
24:21mirror pad screen
24:22so I basically got
24:24a giant phone
24:25in front of me
24:26at this point
24:26and I should be able
24:27to control
24:28this Android phone
24:29from the screen
24:31of the mirror pad
24:31so let's give it a try
24:33I am going to try
24:33and hit the home button
24:35which is at the bottom
24:36center
24:36and we will see
24:36if it takes us back
24:37to our home screen
24:38and it did
24:39alright
24:40so now we can
24:41have some fun
24:41let's find out
24:42what the weather is
24:43in Milwaukee
24:44at the moment
24:44I am going to go ahead
24:45and touch
24:45on the weather app
24:46at the top
24:47and here we have
24:49the weather
24:50being displayed
24:51in this large
24:5216 inch screen
24:53this is really
24:54kind of cool
24:55and you know
24:57it is very unique
24:58I have not seen
24:59anything like this
25:00so a super nice way
25:01to control your phone
25:02especially if you struggle
25:03with the smaller screen
25:04of the phone
25:05now you have got
25:05a 16 inch smartphone
25:07just ready to be used
25:08now Corey and I
25:09saw this device
25:10at the CSUN conference
25:11and you may have
25:12seen that video
25:13when we saw this
25:14device earlier this year
25:15at the CSUN conference
25:16and at the time
25:17it was a little bit laggy
25:19when it came to
25:20controlling the phone
25:21via the screen
25:22of the mirror pad
25:22but now I have to say
25:24it seems a lot more
25:25responsive
25:25and so I do think
25:26that this is perfectly usable
25:28and a great way
25:29to do things
25:30now one thing
25:31we can check here
25:32is how about
25:33if we want to watch
25:34a video
25:34from the phone
25:35but watch it
25:36on the mirror pad
25:37well we should be able
25:37to do that
25:38I'm going to go ahead
25:39and open the YouTube
25:39app here
25:40from the phone
25:41and the sound
25:45is coming through
25:47the mirror pad
25:48and that's why
25:48I wanted to show here
25:49so the video
25:50is playing
25:51on the mirror pad
25:52and the sound
25:53of the video
25:53is coming out
25:54of the mirror pad
25:54speakers
25:55and we have
25:55volume control
25:56on the screen
25:57we can use
25:57to adjust
25:58the volume
25:58now one of the
25:59really mind-blowing
26:01features of
26:02doing this connection
26:03with your phone
26:03is using
26:04a picture in picture
26:05mode whereby
26:06we can see
26:07not only
26:07what is on
26:09the phone screen
26:09but we can also
26:10see through
26:11the distance camera
26:12at the same time
26:13in order to do this
26:14we can go ahead
26:14and press the button
26:16on the far right
26:17of the base
26:17which will switch us
26:18between the different
26:19views of the magnifier
26:20and that's going
26:21to bring up
26:22a window
26:23which is displaying
26:24whatever the distance
26:25camera is looking at
26:26and we can reposition
26:28this window
26:28just by dragging it
26:29using our finger
26:30because this is
26:31on the touch screen
26:32and we can even
26:33resize it again
26:34just by dragging it
26:35with our fingers
26:36so we can go ahead
26:37and position
26:37that distance view
26:39wherever we might
26:40want it
26:40and now we have
26:41access not only
26:42to the phone screen
26:43but also to
26:43the visuals
26:44from the distance
26:45camera
26:45so if you struggle
26:46with your phone
26:47because it's too small
26:47the mirror pad
26:48might be the answer
26:49for you
26:49all right Luke
26:52I think you've done
26:53a wonderful job
26:54showing all of
26:56the features
26:56of the mirror pad
26:57wait so does that
26:58mean that I passed
26:59your Seminole
27:00yes you sure did
27:01and it only cost
27:02you $2,000
27:03worth every penny
27:05exactly
27:05everybody passes
27:06when they pay $2,000
27:07so you know
27:09we've looked at devices
27:10in the past
27:11similar to this
27:11even the Explore 12
27:13to a certain degree
27:14had a similar feature set
27:17but I don't think
27:18anyone has the same
27:20design as the mirror pad
27:22and I don't think
27:23anybody is doing
27:24the unique feature
27:25of connecting
27:26your Android phone
27:28and getting
27:28touchscreen access
27:29to it
27:30so I think
27:31those are really
27:32two features
27:33that do make it
27:34stand out
27:34from its competitors
27:36Khoi like I said
27:37to you just before
27:38we started shooting
27:38this segment
27:39it's just cute
27:40yeah
27:40it really is
27:41the design is just cute
27:43it's a real nice
27:44compact
27:44and modern
27:46modern
27:46kind of a modern
27:47yeah
27:47yeah and it's got
27:48everything that you want
27:49it's got full page OCR
27:50it's got distance
27:51it's got near
27:52it's got phone
27:53connectivity
27:54it's got HDMI input
27:56you know
27:57it's like
27:57what else could you
27:58possibly want
27:58and good quality
27:59yes
28:00good build quality
28:01the image is good
28:03obviously we've only
28:04had it for a short bit
28:06but
28:06I don't think that
28:08you know
28:09I think the quality
28:10is going to be just fine
28:11I have to say
28:12even though it's very
28:13similar feature wise
28:14to the Clover book
28:15I just
28:16I much prefer this
28:17design
28:18yeah
28:18yeah
28:19it's responsive
28:20it's nice
28:21it's sleek
28:21yeah
28:22yeah
28:23so
