Highlights of the 3rd race of the 3rd round of the 2025 BTCC (British Touring Car Championship) from Snetterton on 25th May 2025.  Round 9 Starts - 13:56

00:00So many great stories so far today at Snedderton with victories for Dan Kamish and Dan Rowbottom.

00:06What lies in store in this reverse grid race which sets off with a fascinating line-up of a front row of Mikey Doble and Chris Smiley.

00:14Two drivers in terrific form, Mikey Doble in particular, with a great chance of taking this breakthrough win this season.

00:21Dan Lloyd and Tom Chilton make up the second row and then it's Morgan and Rowbottom and then the real hard charging championship pace setters.

00:29We've got Ash Sutton alongside Charles Rainford, race winners so far this season.

00:35We've got Jake Hill right there in the mix alongside Aaron Taylor-Smith, Ronan Pearson and James Dolan, Daryl DeLeon and Aidan Moffat, Stephen Jelly and Ryan Bensley.

00:46And then look at the back, Dan Kamish, Dexter Patterson and right at the back we have the hard charging Tom Ingram alongside Gordon Shedden remarkably.

00:57But expect some fireworks from Tom Ingram.

01:01Right, round nine of the QuickFit British Touring Car Championship.

01:04The grid is just about assembled.

01:06Let's go down to Louise.

01:08Thank you, Steve.

01:09We've actually got a bit of a gap at the front of the grid here, still waiting for some of the front runners to come along.

01:15And obviously more of a gap where Chris Smiley's car is due to be.

01:18I had a quick word with the guys on the team and an electrical issue is the problem.

01:24Oh, sorry, I'm just getting the flag from Dan Lloyd's team.

01:27I'm absolutely standing in his grid position.

01:30So let's let Dan pull into position.

01:33And then I can see just behind him Mikey Doble, who I 100% want to have a word with, on pole position.

01:40Oops.

01:41That wasn't supposed to happen.

01:44So the guys will come in and pick that up.

01:47It's a little bit fraught out here, I think it's fair to say.

01:50So I tell you what, I think Paul's got a driver with him.

01:53So let's go down to the back of the grid and then I'll grapple well with Mikey Doble in a minute.

01:58Yeah, that's a bit harsh, not right at the back of the grid.

02:01Aidan Moffat's here.

02:02Aidan, I get a bit nervous when I'm going to interview you because you're smirking already.

02:05But tell you what, you haven't had the best of luck, have you?

02:08What was that technical infringement all about before?

02:11I don't know if you could tell, but we were over boosting in race one.

02:15So obviously the sheer speed of us, it must have been obvious, no?

02:20Is that how they caught you?

02:22Yeah, but just, you know, it's just the way the rules are.

02:25The rules are the rules and it's not West Surrey's fault.

02:29It's just one of them.

02:30Not every car, even though it's every BMW, will have the same map because the sensors are all slightly different.

02:38And it was just very slightly over boosting.

02:40Not enough to give you much of a performance gain, but the rules are the rules.

02:45So, yeah, we've done all that hard work from the hard tyre.

02:48Had to fight, defend, get a bit of a sweat on for nothing.

02:52So I wish they gave me the disqualification halfway through.

02:55I could have got a rest, but I had to do the whole race for nothing.

02:58Lovely answer, mate.

03:01You've got the soft tyre on, haven't you, now?

03:02So what are you expecting?

03:04There's about five or six people in front of you with the hard tyres.

03:07Quite a big delta that we've spoken about.

03:09Top ten is on.

03:10What do you reckon?

03:11You've got some quick kids behind you as well, though, to be fair.

03:13I just want to go home.

03:16Yeah, I think it's been a very difficult day.

03:19Race two, trying to come through the grid, we got picked up a bit of damage.

03:23We've got a slightly shorter set of gear in the car.

03:25We'd like it a bit longer.

03:26It's making life difficult a bit, but it's not there to fit.

03:31But that's a different story.

03:32So it is difficult, you know.

03:35We'll get our elbows out.

03:36We'll give it a shot.

03:37It'll be nice to try and get some points from a pretty disappointing Sunday

03:41when, you know, the car's not had great pace.

03:44But I feel like myself with Colin Tuckington's helping me out, as you know.

03:48And I feel like the driving's actually been okay, which sounds crazy,

03:51coming from the BMW performance at Brands Hatch to this.

03:55So it's hard to say what we'll do, but we'll definitely give it a roll.

04:36Under the radar at the minute, but one of the super-fast front-wheel drive drivers.

04:40I go on about you a lot, mate.

04:41You're a proper peddler.

04:43You've got to have some good luck soon, haven't you?

04:45Yeah, I think we've been missing something a little bit up to now.

04:49Made some good progress yesterday.

04:51And I think the tyre strategy we went for has put us back a little bit in race two and obviously to now.

04:58But, yeah, we're on the right tyre to be on for this race, so it's going to be full attack.

05:03Enjoying yourself, mate, because you're used to Clios, you're used to Historics.

05:06We've had a pedal together, haven't we, in older cars.

05:09But this is good fun, isn't it?

05:10Race Touring Cars is where people like you should be.

05:13Yeah, it's proper.

05:14I mean, the race in everything I've done so far has been good.

05:17Obviously, I love driving cars.

05:19That's what it's all about.

05:19But, yeah, it's just a different arena completely.

05:23I absolutely love it.

05:24And, you know, a huge credit to all the team behind the scenes that make it possible.

05:28But, yeah, hopefully now we'll get some results to make it all worthwhile.

05:34Lou, who have you got?

05:35Well, I am at the front of the grid with Mikey Doble.

05:38And I think at the moment we've just seen a shot there of Mikey Doble's tyre.

05:42And that really is the ace up its sleeve because I think some people, and to be fair, I was one of them, slightly questioning the decision to run on the hard tyre in race one when you were so far up the grid.

05:52But you now have the soft on and you're even further up the grid.

05:56You are in a very, very good position.

05:58Sorry.

05:59Are you talking to the team?

06:00Yeah?

06:00Did you hear me?

06:02Yeah.

06:03So my plan was to obviously get the hard out of the way early but still get a good finish because I know that a lot of people use the hard in race one.

06:11And my plan was to get me exactly where I am here.

06:13So if I can do the job from here, then it's the mission complete.

06:17But just to get here in the first place and to strategise the day to give me this opportunity now, whatever happens, happens.

06:25We've seen that you've got the pace in the car.

06:28But boy, you almost went horribly wrong in race two, didn't it?

06:32With that little trip across the grass, that was a really good save.

06:35Yeah, it was traumatic.

06:36It was a bruising race two, but I needed to fight hard to stay in that position so I could guarantee myself a chance of a reverse grid.

06:44And here we are.

06:45How tough do you think it's likely to be from here, bearing in mind that you've still got some reasonably hard charging cars behind you?

06:54Yeah, it's still going to be easy.

06:55It never is.

06:55But we have got some hard shod cars just behind me.

06:59So the goal will be to try and get a gap early and then just try and manage it from there.

07:06I hope it goes well.

07:07Right, I think I've got time.

07:08And you can see that gap on the grid still where Smiley should be.

07:12Let's just dive in and grab a quick word with Dan Lloyd.

07:15So, Dan, obviously, you're having to carry the hopes of the team with you with the problem with Chris.

07:21What do you reckon from here?

07:23It's going to be tough on the harder tyre, isn't it?

07:25Yeah, obviously a big shame for Chris.

07:27I think they've had to replace a crank sensor at the last minute.

07:30But, yeah, it's going to be tough on the hard tyre.

07:32But there's a few hards behind me.

07:36So it's going to be a little bit of damage limitation.

07:38But we've made some big improvements to the car.

07:40So I'm still going to be pushing.

07:41A couple of independent wins already as well.

07:43Another one potentially on the cards here.

07:46Well, he's going to be quick on the softs in front.

07:49But, you know, if I can come away with another strong points finish today,

07:53it's just a mega turnaround from the first two rounds.

07:55So, yeah, we'll see what we can do.

07:57But I'm really happy.

08:03The climax of the day at Snetterton.

08:09The reverse grid race.

08:10Mikey Doble on pole position.

08:12But a big empty space alongside where Chris Smiley should be.

08:15Round nine of the quick fit British Touring Car Championship.

08:18Tim Harvey and David Addison can explain everything.

08:22First talking point, Chris Smiley, sadly not on the grid.

08:26Team frantically trying to get the work done so he can join in at the back from the pit lane.

08:30But it's a cruel sport, this, isn't it?

08:32The team has gone so well during the day.

08:34And here on a front row start, a crank sensor change within minutes of the green lights.

08:39Yeah, and it's not an easy thing to access either.

08:42So they're doing their best.

08:44Hopefully they can get him out.

08:45But what disappointment.

08:46I mean, cruel fate, isn't it, motorsport?

08:50It hits you at the worst possible time, you know, off the front row.

08:55And OK, he was starting on the hard tyres, but he was certainly looking forward to a good race.

09:00And Chris starting to look a bit more despondent in the car as he can now hear perhaps everybody else accelerating away on the green flag lamp.

09:08He's still got a couple of minutes of work, so he'll be joining, could join in from the pits after everybody has left the grid when the race begins.

09:14But he's going to go from second to 25th, potentially.

09:17And he's not had a chance to cross his tyres on the out lap before, mate, or have the warm-up lap.

09:23And he's on the hard, so, I mean, even if he gets out, it's all against him, isn't he?

09:27But you never know, could have a safety car, could be a restart, it could be all sorts of things out.

09:32This is true.

09:33Nicholas Hamilton accelerates off the grid.

09:34Nick having had a day for the Power of Monkey Brewing Co. with Essidoc Cupra Leon, which has given him a 19th and a 23rd over the two races.

09:46And he will start this race from 22nd on the grid.

09:51At the very back, you see Gordon Shedden.

09:53Now, he was excluded from race two.

09:55Same thing happened to him that happened to Aidan Moffat in race one, over-boosting.

09:59Must be a Scottish thing, but he's gone to the back of the grid.

10:01So, there's another driver who's had a day to forget.

10:03Oh, not hard.

10:04With the accident in the first race and then over-boosting, it's really...

10:10I don't think Gordon's had one good race so far this year, has he?

10:14The one that he's really enjoyed, anyway.

10:16So, the return to the BTCC hasn't been favourable to him so far.

10:20So, the field weaving its way down towards turn four.

10:23Mikey Doble then on pole position.

10:26So, now, as we get to the end of the day, we kind of understand the decision at the start of the day

10:30and why he was on the hard tyre earlier on.

10:32Yeah, but, you know, that, I mean, okay, it worked out.

10:35But there's no guarantee that he was going to get that reverse grid

10:38or be in that position to do it.

10:40But, certainly, the reverse strategy worked out fine for him.

10:44He drove exemplary race in race one, finishing ninth, the first car on hards

10:48and then made progress in race two.

10:50So, yes, it has worked.

10:52Let's have a look at the grid then,

10:54based on that result of race two and the reverse grid draw.

10:57Mikey Doble on pole position.

10:58Chris Smiley should be alongside, but we'll start from the pits if he starts at all.

11:02Dan Lloyd then, third, but he's on the hard tyre.

11:05Tom Chilton is on the soft.

11:06Remember, he won race three at Donington.

11:08Adam Morgan and Dan Robotson then, both on the harder tyre, are on the third row.

11:12You've got Josh Cook next with Sam Osborne for company.

11:16Next up, Charles Rainford.

11:18Ash Sutton is alongside him.

11:20One and two wins they have.

11:22Jake Hill on row six, race winner this year.

11:24Then Aaron Taylor-Smith, the head of Ronan Pearson and James Dawlin.

11:29Daryl Deleon, a race winner as well.

11:30Starts 15th and 16th is Aidan Moffat.

11:33Stephen Jelley and newcomer Ryan Bensley on the ninth row ahead of Dan Camish.

11:37Now a race winner this year.

11:38Dexter Patterson alongside him.

11:40Then you've got Max Hall, who's been in the walls a bit,

11:42with Nicholas Hamilton alongside him.

11:44Nick Halstead comes next.

11:46He's on the hard tyre like Nicholas Hamilton.

11:47Tom Ingram then, really one to watch on the softs

11:50and with maximum boost available, Gordon Shedden likewise at the rear of the grid.

11:55And that's a very sorry sight.

11:57Chris Smiley's car still in its garage rather than on the pit apron.

12:00And the fact that there are people with heads under the bonnet,

12:04that there are people with arms in the cockpit,

12:07in the back of the car and Chris shaking his head.

12:09I'm starting to think that that is not going out.

12:12The Swindon Powertrain team trying to get the car fired up,

12:15but it's not for doing it.

12:17No, it doesn't look good, does it?

12:19What a shame.

12:20What a shame.

12:22And the Hyundai's have been so good today, so quick, all of them,

12:25whether it's the Team Virtu cars or the restart racing ones,

12:28all been very quick.

12:30That's a quick reminder of who's got what boost then.

12:32So six laps for Mikey Doble,

12:33five should they be relevant for Chris Smiley,

12:35four for Dan Lloyd, three for Tom Chilton,

12:37two for Adam Morgan,

12:38one for Dan Rowbottom,

12:39and seven for Josh Cook,

12:41everybody else eight,

12:43and that's the maximum available in this 12-lap race,

12:47our final race of the day.

12:49And the softer tyre, as we know, is the faster.

12:51Most people have saved it to the end of the day.

12:54We know that race three is always lively,

12:56held onto your hats,

12:57because this promises to be even better than normal.

12:58It is, because you've got a jumbled-up grid,

13:00you've got a jumbled-up, soft-and-hard compound tyres

13:03mixed up within the grid.

13:05You've got the three top championship guys

13:07all starting with a full allocation of eight laps of boost

13:10and soft tyres.

13:12This is going to be a good hold-on-to-your-hats-for-sure race.

13:16And, of course, Mikey Doble sitting on pole position,

13:19and this time on a pole position,

13:21he's done just the one warming-up lap.

13:23The Silverstone double haunts him still

13:25when he did a second warming-up lap,

13:26and he didn't need to.

13:27But he's never had a race win.

13:28He came close, remember, at Alton Park last year.

13:30He lost the lead to Jake Hill at his lot of chicane,

13:33which was, what, one, two, three,

13:34four corners from home on the last lap.

13:35He desperately wants a race win, and this could be it.

13:38This could be a really good chance.

13:39If there's some kerfuffle behind him,

13:41he's definitely got the pace to get this job done.

13:43No question about it.

13:44We're almost good to go, then.

13:45The last car slotting into place is that of Gordon Shedden.

13:48The medical car, Abbey Eaton at the wheel of it,

13:50slots in behind there.

13:51The green flag is shown at the back,

13:53that's the indication that the lights will now be turned to red.

13:56Drivers look towards them.

13:58Round nine of the Quick Fit British Touring Car Championship.

14:01David Snetterton, he's got a good start by Mikey Doble,

14:03good start by Dan Lloyd as well,

14:05as they accelerate away from the line,

14:06down towards Riches for the first time.

14:08And it is Mikey Doble who has the lead then into turn one.

14:12And Morgan up the inside, Tom Chilton on the outside,

14:14he's going to be one to watch.

14:15Josh Cook is in the mix as well.

14:17But look, Doble's already checked out.

14:18Oh, there's a bit of kerfuffle at the back,

14:21but everyone stays on.

14:23But great start by Mikey Doble.

14:26That's always, we say, 80% of the race done.

14:29Maybe the Touring Car has less than,

14:31it's more like 70, but that's a great start.

14:33And Dan Lloyd also off with him.

14:36But Dan Lloyd is on the hards.

14:37He is indeed.

14:38But then, look, everybody else is trying to be third, aren't they?

14:40Because you've got Adam Morgan,

14:41and then three wide behind,

14:43Sutton on the inside,

14:44Cook on the middle line.

14:46And you've got a BMW on the outside,

14:48which is Charles Rainford's car.

14:49They break for Angostini.

14:50Sutton nips up the inside.

14:51Ash Sutton's going really nicely here.

14:53Tenth on the grid, remember?

14:55And already he's up into the top four

14:56as Josh Cook gets a bit physical with Charles Rainford.

14:59Take that, new boy, says Cookie.

15:01Yeah, well, I mean,

15:02Sutton's first laps have been absolutely fantastic.

15:05In each of the races,

15:06he's made really quick progress.

15:08And you say, tenth up to fourth.

15:11So the race leaders then come on to Bentley Straight.

15:13Big, big off Stephen Jelly into the barriers.

15:16So Stephen Jelly gets spat out of the pack.

15:20And he's had another rotten day as well.

15:22That may be an interruption to the race

15:24if he can't get it off the grass there.

15:26So Mikey Dober leads down to the S's.

15:28Dan Lloyd is second.

15:29Adam Morgan is third.

15:30And it's Sutton and Cook fourth.

15:32Just Sutton rubs ahead.

15:34But then Cook got the inside line

15:35for the second part of the S's.

15:36It goes through.

15:37And here comes Charles Rainford

15:38looking at the BMW up the inside.

15:40Safety car called.

15:41Safety car deployed.

15:42Yeah, so they have to immediately fall into place.

15:47Some will have seen it.

15:49Osborne have just nipped through there as well.

15:52Charles Rainford is being hung out to dry

15:53by the three Napa cars.

15:56So they're going to have to slow down.

15:58They're going to have to hold station

15:59as they come now then up towards the line.

16:02It's only our fourth appearance

16:06of a safety car all season.

16:08And we're up to round nine.

16:09So the safety car is on track.

16:12And Mikey Dober, race leader,

16:15then having worked hard on that first lap

16:17to build a gap,

16:18now sees it disappear

16:19because everybody can slot up behind him.

16:21Yeah, and of course we have

16:22the new restart procedure now

16:23after the safety car

16:25where the cars don't accelerate

16:26until after the final corner.

16:29Stephen Jelliot out of the car.

16:31Maybe a little winded.

16:32That was a bit of a thump, wasn't it?

16:33Here we see the start once again.

16:35And an absolute great start.

16:38Just got the revs and the clutch

16:39right from Mikey Dober.

16:41So we're watching Sutton.

16:44Watch Sutton in the black and yellow car.

16:47He's on the inside there.

16:49I'm just trying to work out

16:49how he gets from 10th

16:51all the way to 4th.

16:52Oh, there was the touching,

16:54the first corner bunching.

16:58Charles Rainford to you.

17:01Not a great start by Josh Cook.

17:03That makes it all a bit crowded

17:05going up to the first corner.

17:06Rowbottom is on the outside ahead of us.

17:08Look, Rainford into the back of Cook.

17:09Cook gets a little bit sideways.

17:10Yeah, but holds it.

17:12That's OK.

17:13That's not...

17:14That's just first corner bunching.

17:17But...

17:18Now, this is where it gets a bit naughty

17:20down the inside.

17:21Oh, and into the back of Morgan as well.

17:24That really was a bit aggressive, wasn't it?

17:26He may get called up to the bus for that one.

17:30This is on board with Nicholas Hamilton

17:31from further back.

17:33He's got Matt Hall just in front of him.

17:35It's a good launch.

17:36But, wow, comes steaming through his Ingram.

17:38Where did he get that launch from?

17:40Well, Ingram was up to 13th at the end of the first lap

17:43from 25th on the grid.

17:44How about that?

17:45Wow, that was incredible.

17:46That was like he was in a rear-wheel drive car

17:49of a few years ago.

17:50He shot forward, didn't he?

17:51And this is Dan Kamesh's view as well, going up to the first corner.

18:00See the BMWs ahead.

18:03Aidan Moffat is the one that takes to the weeds.

18:05Aaron Taylor-Smith right in front of us.

18:06And eventually Kamesh finds a gap on the inside there.

18:08Steven Gelli ahead.

18:10Yeah, Kamesh actually did the right thing and backed out of that.

18:13The road got blocked even though he had the momentum.

18:15The road was blocked in front of him.

18:17And rather than run into the car, he backed out of it,

18:20which was the right thing to do.

18:21But didn't manage to take advantage of that kerfuffle.

18:26And here comes Ingram, who started at the back.

18:29He's going to go all the way around the outside here of Gelli.

18:33Well, we know a fired-up Ingram is always worth watching.

18:35Remember Donington last year, for example.

18:37So Kamesh on the back of Gelli.

18:39We're about two corners away from Steven Gelli's dramas.

18:42Yes, he's on the inside going into Agostini though.

18:45Yeah, there's Daryl De Leon alongside him.

18:49So Gelli's about to turn into the corner.

18:51There's De Leon at the inside.

18:54And Ingram on the inside.

18:55Yeah, Daryl De Leon was with Gelli.

18:57Yeah, Daryl De Leon just turned Gelli a little bit

19:01and then Ingram caught the front of it,

19:03which pitched him off.

19:04But certainly wasn't Ingram's fault

19:06and certainly wasn't Gelli's fault.

19:08We understand that Chris Smiley's travails now.

19:10A high-pressure fuel pump.

19:12So he is effectively out of the race.

19:18And Charles Rainford then got into the top six.

19:21That's Chris Smiley, oh so frustrated.

19:23All they can do now is just treat this as a bit of a test, isn't it?

19:28Yeah, still behind the safety car

19:30while they remove Stephen Gelli's car

19:32from the outside of Ongi's corner.

19:37Hopefully it won't be too long

19:38and we can enjoy the racing.

19:40Are they going to lift it?

19:42Or are they going to tow it?

19:43I think they're going to lift it

19:44so we'll be a little while yet behind the safety car.

19:47So there, Charles Rainford,

20:01who is six behind the safety car.

20:07while he's busy warming up the tyres.

20:10That was a fairly physical start to the race, wasn't it?

20:14Of course, you're telling me, yeah.

20:16I mean, I've enjoyed this touring car racing.

20:18I'm still learning so much.

20:19But, gosh, as we go past,

20:21I hope Gelli's all right.

20:22That looks a bit nasty.

20:24Yeah, so enjoying it.

20:26Yeah, really enjoying it.

20:28Especially always a pleasure talking to you,

20:29especially in the middle of the race.

20:30So that's great.

20:31Well, ninth you started, sixth you are.

20:33So you had your elbows out

20:34and it was always going to be busy

20:36with that mix of drivers on the hard

20:38and the soft tyre, wasn't it?

20:40That's it.

20:42So there's still a couple in front of us.

20:44So we'll see what we can do.

20:45But at the moment,

20:46I'm exactly where I want to be.

21:35and careful with the car.

21:38You wouldn't drive like that

21:42You'd be losing your radiators

21:43left, right and centre.

22:23in the recovery operation of that.

22:25Yeah, a wheel hanging off with

22:26or completely off with the drive shaft

22:28still attached to it.

22:29Front wheel drive, obviously, these cars.

22:30But the marshals have lifted it.

22:34It couldn't obviously be towed with a wheel off

22:35so they've done the right thing there.

22:38Stephen Jally back in touring cars

22:40after a year in Carrera Cup GB last season

22:42and he must be thinking

22:43what have I done to deserve this

22:45because there's either bad luck or no luck.

22:47Yeah, yeah, exactly.

22:48But that's, as so often is said

22:50when you're in that sort of mid-pack

22:52so often on the first or second lap

22:55the bunching can spit you out

22:57because everyone's pushing, everyone's shoving.

23:00Tom Ingram, well, there's a little bit

23:02of a witness mark on the left front corner

23:04to prove that he was coming through.

23:05I think he got slightly tangled up, didn't he,

23:07in the Jally de Lyon contretemps.

23:09But Tom Ingram started 24th

23:14He had a great first lap, fantastic first lap.

23:17We'd love to watch the onboard of that

23:18throughout.

23:19But yeah, that damage,

23:21hopefully that damage won't affect the performance.

23:23That was, as you say,

23:24when Jally got turned across the front of him

23:26and then he hit Jally

23:27when he was trying to go to the inside.

23:30But hopefully it won't affect the performance

23:32because it's lovely to watch an Ingram

23:34or a Sutton on one of these charges, isn't it?

23:36And, of course, for Tom Ingram,

23:38with everybody now for the restart bunched up,

23:40he's able to strike and gain more ground

23:42on the restart.

23:43Yeah, good point.

23:43And with the new restart rules,

23:45it means they are much closer together.

23:47The lead car can't drop back

23:49once the safety car lights are out

23:51and pick his moment to go.

23:53And by doing so, stretch the pack out.

23:55They have to literally follow each other

53:29thanks very much indeed Louise quick confirmation of how the championship stands as we leave Sneddon let's not forget that the main championship challenges Ash Sutton and Tom Ingram also had a pretty good day Ingram fighting his way back into fourth Sutton still has that championship lead top three Sutton Ingram and Hill quick word we've heard from Paul O'Neill Tim Harvey if you're going to win your first race you do it in that kind of style

53:54well you know and that's absolutely he will remember that race forever you know his verse it wasn't gifted to him he had the right strategy for the day we questioned at the start but he had the right strategy and and to win a race like that under pressure from a champion closing on you and it was the champion made that little mistake gave him the breathing space he drove beautifully and I'm so pleased for him as the whole paddock is and he also made the point that in a previous season Jake Hiller put him under similar kind of pressure when victory beckoned that must have been

54:24in his mind quite significantly well you know as a driver unfortunately you do think of all the things that can go wrong and he will have thought about that but he held it together and held it to the end didn't make a single mistake and matched on the boost Ash Sutton so that there was no way Ash could get through

54:42In championship terms Ash Sutton reasonably satisfied with the day's work

54:46I think probably ecstatic and the Tom Ingram problem has made him a little bit more ecstatic in the second race but obviously he's looked in his mirrors and he's like where's he come from

54:56so you've got to say Tom Ingram has had a stellar third race I thought it was absolutely fantastic but yeah Ash has been great I still can't believe Tom Ingram hasn't won a race yet this year crazy to think that isn't it

55:07yeah picked up 19 places Tom Ingram it was a terrific it was like one of those touring car races from years by where you steam through the field but

55:16the first laps were the key for both Ash Sutton and for Tom Ingram in that last row their first laps were just incredible I think he made 10 or 12 places absolutely fantastic but

55:27when you see that's when you see the class of a champion when they carve through the field like that in basically equal machinery

55:33yeah quick thought on Thruxton where we're heading next tyres a different kind of issue there

55:38always hard tyres at Thruxton no alternative no option just hard tyres for all three races

55:44it's Josh Cook's homeland and he's just come off a good result hasn't he so let's see what he can do

55:49and he needs a good result or two doesn't he

55:51yeah he does I think that he will be right up there I don't know whether the car's quick enough to win but Josh can make the difference at Thruxton
