"È come un miracolo": l'emozionante reintroduzione del gipeto in Bulgaria

A mezzo secolo dalla sua estinzione, la Bulgaria ha celebrato la reintroduzione di uno dei rapaci più rari in Europa: il gipeto. Si tratta di un passaggio fondamentale per ricollegarne le popolazioni in Europa e negli altri continenti.

00:00The species went extinct like more than half a century ago, so that's why we put all our forces to bring these species back.
00:11I'm Andriana Oditeva and I'm breeding program coordinator in the Green Balkans Wildlife Rehabilitation and Breeding Center.
00:20Are there vultures in Bulgaria?
00:22In Bulgaria we have four species, bearded vulture, cinereus vulture, Egyptian vulture and griffon.
00:28But bearded vulture, it's the first three birds that we have. Before that they were totally extinct.
00:33Why are they important?
00:35They are scavengers. They usually eat dead animals, so they help people by cleaning the dead carcasses from the wild.
00:42Are they dangerous?
00:43No, they are not dangerous because it's not in their nature to kill, to prey. They will not attack people.
00:51Who is their main predator?
00:52Human. People are the biggest enemy of vultures.
00:57Poisoning, poaching, also habitat destruction, lack of food.
01:02Who poisons them?
01:04Mostly stock breeders from the local villages, but they are not setting poisons against vultures, but against wolves, jackals.
01:12So their target is not to kill vultures, but other predators.
01:16Are the populations increasing?
01:18Generally speaking, I can say that in Europe they are increasing.
01:21Thanks to European Life Plus program, they are funding most of their introduction projects.
01:27We started like 30 years ago and now we have good results in Bulgaria, so it's a long process.
01:32And we'll get to work together.
01:33And I'm also working with the police clear through the
01:35investigation, and we're very successful.
01:38I'm also working with the police clear through the process.
01:40I'm working with the police clear through the process of belonging, he is a black and white
01:41carcass, and I am on the radio right to the church.
01:42We're not working with the police.
01:43We are not working with the employees.
01:44We are working with the police clear through the process of Somexigtball Oli,
01:45which is a small part of thelighidness that's the network and the department that
01:47members are connected to the City of Colorado.
01:48We're gonna go to work together and it's done with the whole process.
01:49We are working with different places.
