00:00Hi, I'm Randi Sinoceros. I'm the writer and producer on this film.

00:03My name is Faustina Ortiz, and I am co-directing.

00:06I'm Angelica Sova, and I'm a co-director.

00:08Hi, my name is Mary Wenner. This is my acting practicum.

00:11And this is You Gave Me Flowers.

00:13You Gave Me Flowers, we wanted to focus on the theme of love,

00:18which is common in a lot of stories, but specifically,

00:22the modern culture's concept of love, and then the Christian concept of love.

00:27I think it's a really important story to be told because it focuses on the idea of selfless love

00:31and just how important that is for everyone.

00:34You Gave Me Flowers is a story about two best friends, Rowan and Carter.

00:38Rowan is a young teenage boy who kind of goes by the seat of his pants

00:44and really makes decisions based on, like, passions and emotions.

00:48He suffers from Hanahaki disease, which is unrequited love,

00:51and it causes flowers to grow in your lungs until you ultimately suffocate and die.

00:55Unless you get your love required or you let it go.

00:58So they have to make Olivia fall for Rowan before he dies.

01:01Imagine Clueless meets My Best Friend's Wedding.

01:04Part of the idea, I think, was exploring when we're young.

01:08We think we know what love is, especially when we're in high school,

01:11and everything feels like a life-or-death situation, especially when emotions are involved.

01:16So it plays with that idea of having a crush on someone and thinking that this is going to kill you.

01:23And by introducing this fictional disease that had taken root in internet culture,

01:29it really does, like, physically raise the stakes of being in love with someone or being in love with someone.

01:37It's going to be really, really beautiful and really excited to kind of see this story come to life.
