00:00My name is Amal Abdi Mohamed, the younger sister of Mahad Abdi Mohamed.
00:06I stand before you with a heart that will never be whole again.
00:10My beloved brother is gone and we still don't know why.
00:14He didn't pass away in a peaceful way.
00:17He didn't go in a way that made sense.
00:19Someone knows what happened to him and yet we are here with no answer,
00:23no justice and just a family torn apart,
00:26trying to navigate through the pain.
00:30My brother wasn't just a name in the news story, he was everything to us.
00:35He was taken from us through gun violence.
00:38A bullet didn't just take its life, it tore through our family and it tore through our hearts.
00:44I'm here today not just to honour my brother but to plead with you.
00:49So if you know anything at all, please come forward.
00:52You might think what you saw or heard doesn't matter
00:56but it might be the key of giving us answers
00:58and it might be the thing that finally lets our family take a breath.
01:03To stay silent is to be complicit.
01:07To stay silent is to let a grieving mother suffer in confusion.
01:11To stay silent is to let a little boy grow up not knowing what happened to his father.
01:16So if you know something and you haven't come forward, please think about that.
01:20Think about a family that cannot begin to heal because the truth is still hiding in the shadows.
01:26We're not asking for a miracle, we're asking for humanity, for decency, for the truth.
01:34My brother deserved better and my brother deserved justice
01:38because he was a good man and he was deeply loved and he truly mattered.
01:43Help us make sure his story doesn't end in silence.
01:48Please come forward, give us answers, please give us his son peace,
01:53allow our mother to finally rest and let our family grieve with the truth and not just mysteries.
