Evasive Motorsports is back at the legendary Pikes Peak International Hill Climb—this time with a bold new EV contender: the 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N! After previously racing a Tesla Model 3 in 2022, the California-based tuning shop has swapped it out for Hyundai’s high-performance electric crossover, ready to take on the mountain in under 10 minutes.

In this video, we take a deep dive into how Evasive stripped down, tuned up, and transformed the Ioniq 5 N into a race-ready beast. From carbon fiber aero by Voltex to Moton coilovers, Krontec air jacks, Titan 7 wheels, and Endless brake fluid—the upgrades are serious. Plus, meet the driver Rob Walker, who knows this car inside out thanks to countless laps at Buttonwillow Raceway.

🚗 Will the Ioniq 5 N outperform the Tesla?
🏁 Can Evasive break the 10-minute barrier again?
⚡ How does this EV stack up in one of the world’s toughest races?

00:00For quick tire changes, a set of Krontek Air Jacks lift the car off the ground without the
00:05Nita pump jack, and reduces the risk of accidental damage in using it.
00:10Also underneath the Hyundai are custom Moton coilovers built in a very short time frame
00:15with legendary suspension tuner Mike Kojima designing the entire setup.
00:20They're joined by a set of EVS tuning anti-roll bars.
00:23The IONIQ 5N is protected by an Imer Engineering 6-point roll cage,
00:27and driver Rob Walker sits in a Sparco QRDC carbon fiber seat.
00:33Finally, the 5N and its new body parts are wrapped in the N-Division livery scheme,
00:38ready to tackle the legendary mountain.
00:40There is a bit of serendipity in the driver choice.
00:44Walker was in the process of shopping for a new, high-performance EV to have as a daily driver
00:49and was already looking at a Hyundai IONIQ 5N as a potential purchase.
00:53After a call from Evasive Motorsports co-owner, Mike Chom, Walker purchased one and has been
01:00slinging it around the equally legendary Buttonwillow Raceway and taking advantage of
01:04Hyundai's access to the Tesla supercharger network that has a set of chargers not that
01:08far away from the racetrack.
01:10Thanks to this purchase and constant seat time, Walker therefore has more than a passing familiarity
01:16with the 2025 IONIQ 5 North Pikes Peak International Hill Climb racer he'll be wheeling in the EV
01:22class this year.
01:24If you want to see how Walker, Evasive, and Hyundai perform, the 2025 Pikes Peak International
01:30Hill Climb will take place on June 22, 2025.
01:35There's a lot to love when it comes to Hyundai and its motorsports programs.
01:39They practice what they preach in their end-division vehicles, like the 2025 Hyundai IONIQ 5N, by
01:46taking them racing and applying that knowledge to their road cars.
01:50This year, the IONIQ 5N is headed to the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, in an effort
01:55headed by a well-known tuning shop from Southern California, Evasive Motorsports.
02:01The stripped down, caged up, and kid-out 5N that Evasive is building for the race to the
02:06clouds as the outfits follow up to a 2022 Tesla Model 3 it's raced up Pikes Peak previously.
02:12The idea for 2025 is the same as 2022 when Evasive ran the Tesla Model 3, break the 10-minute
02:19barrier.
02:21Luckily, the playbook for the Hyundai is largely the same as for the Model 3, starting with the
02:26diet.
02:27The IONIQ 5N loses its entire interior, as well as its stock doors and tailgate, which
02:33are replaced by carbon fiber pieces.
02:36Next up, it gains a set of lightweight forged wheels from Titan 7 with their TP10 in 19-by-11-inch
02:42fitment that were wrapped in Yokohama Advan A005 race slicks.
02:48EVS Tuning, Evasive Motorsports Tuner Parts brand, adds a set of aero discs to help make sure
02:53the wheels are as slick as the 5N is through the ever-thinning air while going up the 14,115-foot
03:00summit.
03:00Behind those aero discs are a set of counterspace garage brake pads clamping down on the 5N's
03:07disc brake setup with endless brake fluid providing the hydraulic pressure.
03:11All told, the Evasive Motorsports team cuts 500 pounds from the IONIQ 5N's original 4,851-pound
03:19curb weight.
03:20As a bonus, the new wheels stick out so far beyond the stock fenders, it forced Evasive
03:26to fit a sweet body kit to contain them.
03:30With a close relationship with prominent aerodynamics builder Voltex, Evasive sent in a 3D model of
03:36the 5N, and Voltex went to work on creating a new front lip and splitter, side skirts, fender
03:42flares, new underbody aero, and a rear wing awl from carbon fiber.
