Prime Minister Narendra Modi targeted the RJD over the recent controversy involving alleged disrespect to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar's portrait by Lalu Prasad Yadav. He asserted that the people of Bihar would never forgive those who insulted the architect of the Constitution. Addressing the state's sizeable Dalit population, Modi said, "RJD insulted Babasaheb Ambedkar, and Bihar will never forgive them."

03:17It has called for a lot of criticism of the R.J.D. by the opposition parties.

03:27Even the Prime Minister calling for criticism of Lalu Prasad Yadav saying that he and his party as well as the Congress

03:36do not respect Baba Sahab Mbedkar and are acting against the interests of Dalits and Mahadalits.

03:42Remember with the Bihar election on the annual Bihar election will be later this year.

03:49And politics is getting hotter in Bihar.

03:55You can see the Prime Minister speaking in Siwan in Bihar raising the issue against Lalu Prasad Yadav.

04:07Rohit, Prime Minister Modi taking this as a pole plank,

04:12taking this opportunity to attack the R.J.D. as well as the Congress.

04:17But that video, that photo has also been criticized extensively in Bihar.

04:23What is happening on the ground?

04:27Well, see, it's a huge, huge issue to which the BJP has latched on to

04:33of Lalu Prasad allegedly insulting Baba Sahab Bhim Rao Mbedkar and the pictures of his on his birthday.

04:40And for the last one week, we are seeing that the BJP has upped the ante on Lalu,

04:45demanding apology from him.

04:47And posters are also across Patna and several parts of Bihar have come up demanding apology from Lalu.

04:52But Ajis Svi Adav has made it very clear that Lalu Prasad has not insulted Ambedkar in any sense

04:59and that there was no question of Lalu apologizing.

05:03But very much on expected lines, Anisha,

05:06we were expecting that the Prime Minister would be making a reference to that entire controversy

05:11and that he did also when he raised the issue of how Lalu Prasad insulted Ambedkar,

05:18though he did not take Lalu's name directly,

05:20but called that R.J.D.

05:21And now, raising this issue,

05:26the Prime Minister made it very clear

05:29and tried to build a narrative that R.J.D. was anti-Dalit,

05:33R.J.D. was anti-OBC and R.J.D. was anti-EBC.

05:37This is the narrative that the Prime Minister tried to build

05:40and this he was doing in order to ensure that the BJP reaches out to the Dalit voters in the state

05:47so that they could benefit in the upcoming Assembly election.

05:51So, very much on expected lines, as I was saying,

05:53that this issue was raised by Prime Minister Modi during his speech in Sivan

05:57and he hit out at Lalu Prasad for insulting Ambedkar,

06:02who is considered as a god among the Dalit community.
