00:00Today we're diving into the Quinn Ewers situation. The Texas quarterback who declared for the NFL
00:05draft turned down an $8 million NIL deal and went a lot later than everyone expected. Ewers left
00:11Texas after leading them to the college football playoff and chose to skip his final year of
00:15eligibility. He reportedly turned down a massive NIL deal to transfer, choosing instead to bet on
00:20himself in the draft. That bet didn't quite pay off. The Miami Dolphins selected Ewers with the
00:25231st overall pick late in the 7th round. At that draft slot, he's projected to earn about $4.3
00:31million over 4 years. That's well below what he could have earned staying in school.
00:36Now, here's where it gets interesting. According to Mike Florio at Pro Football Talk,
00:40there could be a legal case to challenge the NCAA rule that blocks players from returning to school
00:45after declaring for the draft. But Ewers won't be the one to test that. He's moving forward with his
00:50pro career. And honestly, Miami may not be a bad spot. Tua Tagovailoa has missed time in most
00:55of his NFL seasons, and Ewers could end up competing with Zach Wilson for that backup role.
01:00So, what do you think? Should Ewers have stayed another year and taken the NIL money,
01:04or was he right to take the leap now? Let us know in the comments below.
