Speedway: Sheffield's Chris Holder on last heat victory over King's Lynn
Transcript
00:00So Chris, you were captain for the Tigers tonight. How did it go do you feel?
00:04Yeah, it was a really good tight meeting all the way through which we kind of
00:08knew because the way the Kingston team sort of lines up they got some strength
00:12at the bottom and then yeah we started off really good and then obviously the
00:16gates changed around a little bit and they come back pretty strong there in
00:18the middle and then really pushed us towards the end and then the two sort of
00:22heat 13 and 15 the sort of important races we managed to you know get the job
00:26done with the you know maximum score in both so that just got us over the line.
00:29That heat 13, now you were at the back early on on the first lap, you managed to get through.
00:36Can you tell us a little bit about your manoeuvre there on the first lap?
00:38Yeah, so I gave four and four was obviously at the end of the night it's you
00:44don't really have too much hope there so I knew it was going to be a bit sort of
00:47I didn't think I was ever going to get across from the start so I just
00:50tried to go with Niels and we sort of tangled a little bit and then he went
00:54straight for the outside which is obviously the thing to do and I made a
00:57sort of call to cut back and as I did Richard lifted and I was like oh where's
01:02he going and then I managed to sort of make a decision and go and luckily just
01:06sort of scrape through the middle of them and then I knew once me and Jack got
01:10out into the front it would have been difficult for one of them to pass so that
01:13was just had that real bit of hard work in the beginning and then we can go.
01:17Was it a good shot for team riding tonight because there seems to be a lot of it going on?
01:21Yes, it all depends really you know what if you're in first and second for sure you can
01:26help each other when he's battling you know to try and stay in there with the
01:30lead pack it's difficult but when we can I think you know me and Jack obviously
01:35know each other inside out so it's quite easy to ride with him and if your
01:39partner's there you can try and do something so it worked out good.
01:42Did you feel any pressure going into Heat 15? Of course we we didn't want to lose
01:47our record here at home with the winnings so there's a bit of pressure on them we
01:50didn't have the we was hoping our plan was really to just one of us win what
01:55thought would have been Jack and then do a super heat and then get another chance
01:58of the gate choices because one and three would have as was the gates to have
02:02but it just worked too I made a good start Jack made a good start and it all
02:08worked out. How difficult is it to race against Jankovec at
02:11seven times? Yeah it's tricky every as every time I seem to look over the fence
02:16and look it was like he was out there so they definitely got his money worth
02:19tonight but yeah it's like I mentioned before it's like putting Jack in every
02:24in seven races it's it's the way their team's built which is credit to them
02:28they've gone they got strength in every heat there's no real sort of weaker
02:32guys all of them are as good as each other and then yeah obviously yeah and
02:35getting the extra rides definitely boosts their team. Do you feel that some Tigers
02:39have missed Mr. Pickering? Oh definitely yeah but for sure it's um we never
02:44like to see anyone injured obviously Wolfie in the beginning and we sort of
02:47not we're moving on from that and then yeah Picco is obviously he's pretty he's
02:52pretty dangerous around our track here so I'd imagine the away teams coming here
02:57and knowing he's not here would be like a plus for them but I'm not sure what we
03:01got from his rides but yeah definitely a big hole in the team when he's not
03:04around
