00:03On her 47th birthday, Emma dropped a raw confession that has fans talking opening up about stepping back as her husband's battle with dementia takes a toll.

00:11Emma Hemming-Willis is celebrating her birthday by reflecting on the love and support she has in her life.

00:17Emma 47 took to her Instagram stories Wednesday to mark the occasion while also sharing a touching card she received from her mother that reminded her to take a pause.

00:26It was just the thing the author and wife of legendary actor, Bruce Willis, said she needed.

00:32I love this birthday card from my mom.

00:35On the inside she also reminded me to take a pause.

00:38I needed this today.

00:39Emma wrote alongside a photo of the card, which on the front read,

00:42Make a wish, dream big, eat cake, laugh loudly, smile often.

00:47This week has been a big one for the Willis family, with just a day prior,

00:51Emma taking to social media to celebrate a significant win for the frontotemporal dementia, or FTD community.

00:58Per the National Institute on 8,

01:00FTD is a rare form of dementia that primarily affects the frontal and temporal lobes of the brain,

01:05which are crucial for behavior, language, and movement.

01:08Sharing the news with her followers,

01:10Emma announced that the New York legislature had passed a bill to create the first-ever FTD registry in the United States.

01:17This is a big moment for the FTD community, she wrote.

01:20If signed into law, this registry would finally give us the data we need to better understand FTD,

01:26and how we can support families with smarter care and stronger research.

01:30Fans of Bruce, 70, and his family will recall that the die-hard actor was diagnosed with FTD back in 2022,

01:38with his family announcing that he was battling the disorder a year later.

01:41They've been candid about both his struggles and his wins ever since,

01:45sharing family photos and health updates on Bruce's behalf.

01:48The Willis family also marked Father's Day Sunday,

01:51which was particularly poignant for Emma given Bruce's battle with FTD.

01:55Happy Father's Day to all the dads living with disability or disease,

01:58showing up in the ways they can, and to the children who show up for them.

02:02What Bruce teaches our girls goes far beyond words.

02:05Resilience, unconditional love, and the quiet strength in simply being present.

02:10Emma wrote in her tribute to the father of five, with whom she shares daughters Mabel, 13, and Evelyn.

02:18Eleven Bruce is also a dad, two daughters Ruma, 36, Scout, 33, and Tallulah, 31, whom he shares with ex-wife Demi Moore.

02:28She continued, love deepens.

02:30It adapts.

02:31It stays.

02:33Even when everything else changes.

02:34But to be fair to myself, these symbolic days stir up a lot.

02:38I am profoundly sad today.

02:40I wish, with every cell in my body, that things could be different for him, and lighter for our family.

02:49And while that might sound dismissive, to me, it's not.

02:53It grounds me.

02:54It helps me return to the acceptance of what is, and not fight this every step of the way like I used to.
