00:00stars often fade away after a supernova or some other mysterious cosmic event occurs however
00:08experts say that what is often called a guest star will be appearing in the night sky soon and you
00:13don't want to miss it guest stars are stellar objects that will light up the sky briefly
00:18where there was previously no star the first one documented was seen on july 4 1054 by chinese
00:24astronomers that one lasted for 23 days and could even be seen during daytime astronomers recently
00:29detected a nova in the star system t corona borealis and later this year they predict it will cause one
00:35of the brightly shining phenomena nova similar to their supernova cousins are stellar explosions
00:40however they involve much lower mass stars they occur when hydrogen from a dying red dwarf accretes
00:45around its binary white dwarf counterparts when the hydrogen gets to a certain temperature it ignites
00:50causing a nova experts say we should expect the guest star to be visible sometime in the second
00:55half of 2024 though they're not sure 100 when they say it will not be nearly as impressive as the 1054
01:01first sighting of one of these events but for a few hours at least it will be the brightest star in the
01:06corona borealis constellation
