A mum-of-two whose hotel room was raided on holiday in Spain has issued a warning to other tourists to “keep your wits about you.” Becca Farley, 27, was staying at Magical Tropical Splash in Benidorm with her partner, six-year-old son and 11-year-old daughter when she caught strangers in her room. The family, from Hampshire, had paid £2,500 for their week-long stay. On the last night, with signs around the hotel warning of a power cut, Becca went to the room to charge their phones before the flight home.
00:00The hotel is having an entire power cut tonight. Nothing works. We were on the 15th floor. The lifts are shut down.
00:06I read the sign that there was going to be a power cut and I was like, right, we're flying home tomorrow.
00:09I need to make sure the phones are charged because we're not going to be able to charge them overnight and we've got to be out of the room by 10.
00:14So I'd come upstairs to put everyone's phones on charge. The power cut started at midnight.
00:19Everyone was downstairs. We'd gone for dinner. That's fine. Everyone was downstairs waiting for the entertainment.
00:24I'd come up to put the phones on charge. I'd got in the lift. There was a little old lady also in the lift.
00:29And then as the lift was about to shut, these two teenagers came in, like quickly darted into the lift.
00:35The lift's open. These two teenagers step out. They've turned left and walked into my room.
00:40And I've walked around the corner and seen the door was three quarters of the way open with something propped against the door to keep the door open.
00:48So instantly, and they just walked straight in. Instead, I thought, oh shit, I've obviously got off of the wrong floor.
00:52Looked up. No, it's my floor. Looked at the room number on the side. No, my room number.
00:56I've glanced in the door and seen there was a teenage girl and a teenage boy start shouting at me in Spanish.
01:03I'm just swearing at them and I'm like, this is my f***ing room.
01:06What the f*** have they gone into a pure adrenaline mode?
01:09It's getting, honestly, it's getting shit out of me.
01:12They've then, they were shouting at me in Spanish and then they've run out, like literally darted.
01:16I've walked in the room as they've gone out, darted out, grabbed what was ever holding the door open and I've sat in the doors and slammed behind them.
01:25And then within like two minutes, there's this bang, bang, bang, bang, bang on the door.
01:29And they're at the door. Bang, bang, bang, bang. And they're pacing.
01:31And I'm like, what do I do? I can't bring anybody because I've got everyone's phones.
01:34I can't go out the door because they're outside waiting.
01:38I don't know what's going on. I don't know why they're in the room. I don't know how the f*** they got in my room.
01:42We wear wristbands and only your wristband will open the door and use the lifts.
01:46So we've all got wristbands on. No one's lost a wristband.
01:49They don't have the room number on anyway. So no matter how they've got in,
01:52obviously they've come up in the lift with me.
01:55But the door was already open.
01:58So someone has opened the door at some point, wedged it.
02:01And then these teenagers have come up and not knowing that this was my room and I was in the lift with them.
02:09Had I not been in that lift coming up to put my phones on charge, everything would have been gone.
02:14Our passports in here, cameras, watches, money.
02:18I mean, I don't even know what their intention was.
02:19So anyway, I ended up speaking to security and the management and they put a whole security team out to look for them.
02:25But they couldn't access it. There is no CCTV upstairs on the floors apparently.
02:29It's only in the lift and at the bottom of the stairwell.
02:32You can review this CCTV in the morning, which I've had a look around.
02:37I've never seen them. We've been here a week. I've not seen them at all before now.
02:42Don't know if they were wearing wristbands if they were actually from this hotel.
02:45And there's no way they were working on their own because someone had my door wretched open.
02:49The management have been great, but in the same breath, we've then got this f***ing power cut.
02:52But as far as it seems, nothing's been taken, but obviously they were only in this room a few seconds.
02:56I didn't go outside and I was talking to another family and lo and behold, another family's had stuff actually gone from their room.
03:02They thought it was cleaners, but clearly not.
03:08They've actually gone to the police station and reported stuff missing.
03:10So get me on this f***ing plane home ASAP rookie.
