00:07The UK is making bold immigration reforms that will reshape the experience of international
00:13students and skilled migrants. With changes to the graduate route, visa rules and language
00:20requirements, the focus is now on ensuring quality, integrity and skill alignment.
00:26These updates bring both challenges and opportunities for future applicants.
00:34Full version of this video update is available on our website, link in the description below.
00:47In this video, we unpack the UK's post-study work visa being cut to just 18 months,
01:02the rise in studying costs, stricter English language requirements and tighter student sponsorship rules.
01:08Watch till the end to learn how these changes will affect your study plans
01:14and what you should do now to stay ahead.
01:24Let's begin with post-study work visa duration cut to 18 months.
01:29The UK graduate route will now allow international graduates to stay for 18 months instead of the
01:36previous 24. PhD graduates retain their three-year post-study stay. Introduced in July 2021, this visa
01:46aimed to let graduates work or seek employment after completing eligible courses.
01:54Next, we move on to rise in cost of studying in the UK.
01:59The government plans to impose a levy on universities earning income from international students.
02:05This revenue will be reinvested into UK domestic skills training, making studying in the UK potentially
02:12more expensive for overseas students. Then we'll cover stricter English language requirements.
02:22English proficiency standards are rising. Skilled worker applicants will now need to meet a B2
02:28CEFR level independent user, while adult dependents must meet a new A1 level basic user,
02:34with future plans to increase this bar.
02:39Followed by tighter student sponsorship rules.
02:43Educational institutions are now required to meet stricter compliance standards, including maintaining a visa
02:49refusal rate below 10%, ensuring that at least 95% of enrolled international students commence their courses,
02:56up from the previous 90%, and achieving a course completion rate of 90%, up from 85%.
03:05Performance ratings, red, amber, green, will determine public trust and licensing strength.
03:10And finally, we wrap up with the conclusion.
03:17These reforms aim to reinforce the UK's immigration integrity, while ensuring only genuine, skilled
03:24individuals benefit. While the road may be more demanding, students and professionals committed to
03:29meeting these higher standards still have a bright future in the UK.
