00:00Our ministers are there in Washington, D.C. to bring up this tariffs issue with the United States.
00:12This morning I received a message from our Minister of Meeting and Finance, Second Finance Minister,
00:24that the meetings with the Secretary of Commerce, U.S. state representatives have been excellent,
00:33and we always emphasize the need not only to secure what is fair for Malaysia,
00:42but we always present the case for ASEAN.
00:47And I have urged my colleagues within ASEAN to do likewise.
00:52We present a bilateral position but at the same time emphasize the need for ASEAN to remain a very cohesive and effective bloc.
01:01The imposition of unilateral tariffs in the United States is, of course, admittedly a significant challenge to our nation and the region
01:15as we are deeply plugged into global supply chains. Some may not appreciate the predicament we are facing.
01:25Sixty percent of our semiconductor E&E products from Malaysia are exported to the United States. Sixty percent.
01:34Sixty percent. So you can imagine the concern, not only of government, but Malaysians generally,
01:41about the need to secure a fair resolution to this issue.
01:49And I must emphasize that the ASEAN consensus reached both by the Finance Ministers and the Trade Ministers earlier,
02:04and the Foreign Ministers culminating in the final communique by ASEAN leaders.
02:14We emphasize the point that the international trade must be governed by transparent rules and legal predictability,
02:25not by unilateralism or coercive economic measures.
02:30Disruption in trade and supply chain will leave detrimental effects on businesses and hamper economic growth,
02:40further impacting efforts toward ensuring the socioeconomic well-being of the people.
02:47That said, Malaysia will continue to engage constructively with the United States, China and the European Union,
02:54India and others in advancing our national and regional interests.
03:00And let there be no doubt, Malaysia's strategy of active non-alignment is a deliberate and principled framework,
03:11designed to maximize strategic flexibility, preserve decision-making autonomy and engage all partners on our terms.
03:30And here's the final question,
03:32however,
03:33I'mCu distributional echo says,
03:34I'm going to competitor to the state.
03:36So,
03:37ários with us from Pap suf use,
