00:00What, me worry? What, me worry?
00:06I started reading Mad at a very early age,
00:09which explains why right now I read on a third grade level.
00:15I mean, Mad Magazine is the only magazine that I ever read cover to cover.
00:19I never did my homework.
00:21When I read Mad Magazine, I remember reading things and just in my mind going,
00:25Whoa, whoa.
00:26Mad Magazine was the first place that really mocked people.
00:31I'd never seen that kind of humor before, that kind of irreverent comedy.
00:35And it really changed something in my brain.
00:37They weren't afraid of anyone.
00:39Mad went after everyone.
00:42It inspired a lot of people to want to make comedy.
00:46Mad was a textbook for us.
00:48How to make fun of things.
00:50Mad is not good.
00:52Our readers are not smart.
00:53Mad is cheap.
00:55The quality is poor.
00:56It's stupid.
00:57That's our brand.
00:59Most parents didn't approve.
01:01They thought it was corrupting their minds.
01:03And in a way it was, in a good way.
