00:04Editorial Thursday, June 19, 2025, a common front against traffic chaos.
00:10Any measure aimed at easing the chaotic traffic in Greater Santo Domingo deserves the support of the public.
00:16The strategies announced by the National Institute of Transit and Land Transportation, INTRAN,
00:23are necessary steps to restore order and fluidity to our roads.
00:27They include, among others, synchronizing traffic lights, regulating parking, and staggering work hours.
00:36These initiatives, which will begin to be implemented starting Monday,
00:39respond to the cries of millions of citizens stuck daily in traffic jams that waste time, energy, and health.
00:45The chaos on the streets is not only a mobility issue, but also a quality-of-life issue.
00:52But for these measures to work, it is vital that we all do our part.
00:57Drivers, in particular, are called upon to respect the rules and act with greater civic awareness.
01:04Public institutions must also adjust their schedules and coordinate their services efficiently.
01:09It is equally important that authorities enforce the rules without hesitation.
01:13Inertia and lack of oversight have so far been great allies of disorder.
01:18Therefore, constant monitoring, the deployment of officers, and the use of new technologies such as surveillance cameras must operate firmly.
01:30Traffic is a problem that cannot be solved with public works alone, but with culture, discipline, and shared responsibility.
01:37These measures can make a difference if we all decide to comply with them.
