00:02Eddington is a story about a small town in New Mexico.
00:07This is the summer of 2020.
00:08COVID is in full effect.
00:10But, you know, Ari's version, reading the script,
00:13I was like, you son of a bitch.
00:15The guy that put me through Hereditary and Midsommar,
00:18I was in heaven.
00:19It was one of those experiences
00:20I knew I wanted to be a part of it immediately.
00:22I think he's the greatest director of our generation.
00:25I love his writing so much,
00:27and Ari has a deep talent for turning things on their head.
00:31He's the funniest guy I know,
00:33makes adjustments spontaneously on set.
00:35So I just was like,
00:36well, I just want to keep working with him.
00:37And then Pedro showed up,
00:39and there was this whole new energy.
00:41They're your street, Sheriff.
00:43They're your streets to keep safe,
00:44and where is your man's?
00:45Joaquin is the sheriff.
00:47I'm the current mayor,
00:48and I'm running for re-election.
00:49We're watching these two men compete,
00:51exacerbated by lockdown.
00:53Six feet.
00:57I wanted to make a really good film about the Southwest.
01:03I'm from New Mexico.
01:04My family still lives there.
01:05The Western is a very interesting genre to me.
01:08It's very much about the heroic myth of America,
01:11but it's also contending with the ugly truth of America.
01:15Every character is living in a different reality,
01:18and they all distrust each other completely.
01:20The powder cat just explodes into something that's so surprising.
01:24People are gonna be looking here now.
01:26It's one of those that you don't want an escape.
01:28You want to allow it to grip you
01:30and take you on the roller coaster.
01:31It really will.
01:32You felt dangerous to me in all the right ways.
01:35People will want to go into the theater
01:37and see in its full glory.
01:39It is one of the most fun things I've shot.
01:41Woohoo!
01:47Woohoo!
01:49Woohoo!
